Well done on the free money. Love that you're putting money towards a big holiday. I'm not surprised reduced hours are calling your name - they are calling mine too but I can't answer yet.

I am now on holiday 🎉 not away until next week but my work phone is OFF!

Had a lovely day out with a friend on Wednesday to a gorgeous beach and went swimming outside for the first time this year, boy it was cold!

I’m actually talking myself out of retirement at 60 though and thinking I may leave it a few years although with even further reduced hours, we shall see how things go.  Do you think you will be able to reduce your hours soon SH?

Good news is that I only have one more year and my NI contributions will be there for full pension (was opted out by previous employer).

    Hi Skint

Your photos are lovely as ever.

I think I have met the NI contributions requirement for full SP (as long as they don't move the goal posts again). It's more that I have a huge to me mortgage so if there is no stock market growth or loss I should hit mortgage neutral by age 62 - if I can continue contributing at the same rate. I am hoping that it will be sooner (closer to 60) if my investments increase. And if I got VR - not currently on the table - I'd get a decent lump sum which would help offset the income loss. Currently I'd like to leave where I work now no later than 60 as it's not exactly an uplifting environment - but the £ is decent. If I was going to stay longer - I could reduce my pension input and drop a day a week. I'd struggle to reduce down more than that though and I'm not convinced I'd gain enough for it to be worth working longer to get to mortgage neutral.

Lots to think about SH but at least your decisions and actions have made your mortgage neutral date a bit closer.

Pay day so all pots replenished! Mortgage won’t come off till Monday.

First day back to work and it’s a late start and early finish so not too bad, might go for a walk as the sun is shining for once.
