58 day old TV bought from Currys went Ping!

I really cannot see what the issue is here. Yes I get that it is mildly annoying that the TV is currently not working, but they have said that they will come out and attempt a repair in less than two weeks from the date that you reported the issue. They have offered to resolve the situation in a reasonable period of time, they are compliant with the law, yet you seem to not like this. What exactly do you feel entitled to that they are not doing?1

Did the fact that it wasn't purchased in the USA cause it to break? No, unless Peterbrough currys has changed country status
Great kudos on irelevancy there.
Non of this has been very helpful, misquoting 'the law' in no way goes to help me or anyone reading this if they are unfortunate enough to be in a similar situation6 -

Nobody has "misquoted 'the law' ".
You've been given a faultlessly accurate explanation of the law. (Unless you want to count a tongue in cheek reference to Eastenders as "misquoting the law" which I wouldn't and I don't think anybody else apart from you would either).
Don't shoot the messenger because you don't like the message.
You've even been told that if it breaks down again you'd be entitled to demand a refund after one failed repair.
Contrary to what you might think, the replies on this thread would be useful to anybody in a similar situation.
And if you still think "it's not right" that the legislation doesn't give you a better remedy, bear in mind that without legislation you'd have no remedy other than the courts saying "caveat emptor". As a consumer you live in relatively privileged times.
If you end up having to take this further with Currys, I suggest you demonstrate a more considered attitude than you do here...11 -
Don't you just love it when someone comes on ask what are the next steps then bitches when the answer isn't what they want to hear.
Let's Be Careful Out There6 -

It still seems that something is not right that only a repair is being offered1 -
I am 'bitching' because of the time frame between purchase, use and failure. It is an unreasonably short amount of time.
I deliberately did not mention the cost at first because I just wanted the facts but instead I get pointless and irrelevant comments that are of no use whatsoever.
Nobody is being entitled nor is anyone expecting a hamper or a hug, just a large useless lump of electronics to be repaired or better, replaced.
Currys customer service is not ideal, some sympathy and basic empathy would have been better than their scripted answers with no responsibility or care to resolve the problem
I came here to see if there was anything further that I could do but that was clearly a mistake - instead it has been !!!!!! taking with very little actual solid advice0 -

The OP flounces off not having had their unreasonable wishes validated.

If they can't fix it in a reasonable time, then they might offer you a new one or a full refund.
If you get offered a full refund, then I suggest buying from somewhere that isn't Currys. Richer Sounds are really good with amazing customer service. (although the same rules would apply with something over 30 days). You can also buy direct from the manufacturer.
Manners are free BTW... so if you responded to Currys as you have done to people on here who have kindly helped you, then it wouldn't surprise me if Currys have deliberately given you a 2 week wait for repair.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)7 -
Sadly, you see a lot of people who ask questions and then really annoyed when they don't get the answer they want to hear.4
