    I've entered the twilight zone.

The design was perfect.  This looks like something you'd be buried in!
Mmm, On reflection, I can only agree!!

Our daughter struggled to fit in a bath for the children in one of her bathrooms, but solved it by using a sort of corner bath, but she had a "free end" at the end away from the corner, so could use what I would  call a "curvy" bath.  It has a shower over and a curved screen,  but is  surprisingly spacious, and offers good shower space.

I think the OP needs to go with the shorter bath, but could go wider.   I would agree that any wall between the shower and the bath does need to be a decent  thickness.

I think what his plumber suggested sounds sensible.

That layout is sooo much better than what I'd anticipated from the earlier trying to squeeze things in. It doesn't look remotely cramped, and you got everything in there with no issues at all. And it's very smart indeed. Great result

Looks great, though I'd have tiled the whole wide of the wall behind the bath :)

I can see how that may have looked better, sadly this was the offcut from the shower screen, so only had this option.

Price on high quality shower boards was quite an eye opener!

Good morning all, it’s been a while!!

    Finally all done.

we ended up with the 1200x900 offset shower
    a 1700x800 bath
    additional radiator as per suggeations
    illuminated mirror cabinet
    kardnean oak Lvt
    Multipanel Marble effect shower panels
    ink 001 paint

May not be to everyone’s tastes, however, I feel that we got as much on as possible without feeling cramped!!

Thanks for all your input - it really helped!!

@Fromdownwest Thanks for the update and pics, I had been following this to see the end result :)

Glad to see that you didn't have to compromise on the size of your bath, and well done for using an offcut of the shower tiling next to the bath!

Also, it's really interesting to see that you went with a layout very similar to the very first one you showed us in your first post :)
