It just makes sense to keep doors locked, there's always the chance of opportunist thieves. If you leave your car unlocked, then you can't be surprised if someone tries the handle and robs it.4 -
pfpf said:very quickly turned in to "victim blaming".A victim of what?If you think you're a victim because someone left a parcel, a parcel that you ordered, in your house, then pop along to the police station and see what they say.'Officer, I've been a victim of a crime''What crime, madam?''Someone delivered a parcel I ordered to my house.'6

It's a really sensible thing to do and the OP should take that away and change their routine.
I know people who have been the victim (real victim, that is) of opportunist burglars who check doors and if they are open, take what might be in the hall - including handbags.

I’m guessing the delivery driver got confused by the instructions? If the instructions were simply to leave it behind the chair as stated in the OP, they presumably either didn’t see the garden furniture (I presume this is what they meant by chair although not a description I would use) or realise that this was the chair being referred to (and so left it by the kitchen chair instead?Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j1

does "situation blaming" make people feel better? someone ignored a note on door. opened 2 doors, only needed to open 1. if door one had been locked what would have happened to parcel as driver clearly wasn't seeing/reading the instructions. rhetorical, he'd have left if by the back door anyway.1

OP For this delivery what's the instructions selected under the "what to do when your parcel doesn't fit in the letterbox?"0

We all want our parcels delivered as cheaply as possible. We don’t want to pay for a Rolls Royce service. So, we get what we pay for.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

This very same thing happened to me a week ago. Amazon entered my property without my permission and left a parcel there. It wasn't even for my address!
