AMAZON DELIVERY DRIVER CAME INTO MY HOME!

Can someone please help. Yesterday I had a parcel delivered by Amazon. The driver came into my back garden, ignited the sign saying to leave parcels on the chair behind him, opened my first back door, entered my porch, opened my second back door, CAME INTO MY HOUSE, AND INTO MY KITCHEN and left the parcel on the floor!

my wife was home alone and was and is terrified!

amazon are a joke. I was speaking to them yesterday and they received an email today saying someone will “reach out” but no one has and then had an email saying they tried to reach out!

replied to this email and they then sent me THE SAME EMAIL just from a different person. They are just ignoring this and I want to take it further!

any ideas on how I can get someone to sort this???

It's not Amazon, it's the courier (Royal Mail, DPD etc).

You should be telling them where you want parcels left, a safe place.

Why didn't the person in the house answer the door? Why are you leaving notes in the back garden?

I used to open people's doors all the time to deliver a parcel back in the 80s. If you just knock and wait, it could cost you 2 minutes per customer, with 150+ parcels per day, that is a lot of time waiting at the door.
If you don't want that to happen, lock your door?
The porch would have been fine, perhaps it was a high-value parcel?
I have seen this type of post before, so it happens regularly, lock your door.

For what it's worth*, I understand your confusion OP and why your wife was terrified!  We don't lock our doors during the day if someone's home, unless they're in bed or going to be in the bathroom for a long time, and we certainly don't expect delivery drivers to open any door to the actual house.

The sign, eh, I can see them ignoring it especially if the weather's bad or they just want to make sure it doesn't go walkies.  But leaving it in the porch really ought to have been the furthest they went.

    Did they knock at all?

*I can't help, I'm just confused why everyone else seems to think it's either your fault or something to be expected.

I'd be annoyed if this happened to me and don't agree with comments on here blaming you for having your doors unlocked. You had a sign telling them where to leave the parcel and why the driver thought it was ok to try, and then open, 2 doors and walk right into your house I don't know. If it was Amazon Logistics then maybe try finding an email address for Amazon and put a complaint in writing. Most Amazon parcels by logistics are just left on front doorsteps.

Amazon are getting increasingly poor on customer service. They're moving more to a fully automated service.

The best you'll get out of this is a full refund rather than any knowledge that it won't happen again.

I'm assuming this was an Amazon delivery driver and not another courier?

Somewhere you will have received a "how was my delivery" email. You need to give one stars all round and add a note to that. Knowing Amazon that will actually go on the driver's record. You also should have something on the order details to register a problem with delivery. You can try and do the same there.

Then you can try contacting customer services via Live Chat.

You can occasionally get somewhere emailing managingdirector@amazon.co.uk but that's a bit hit and miss in my experience.

What tends to happen is that Amazon drivers are told to either hand it to a person or photograph it inside the property. Evri are just told to deliver so they'd drop it anywhere. Clearly we don't know for certain this was Amazon Logistics but it does sound more like something they'd do than any other couriers.

It seems quite considerate of the delivery man to pop the parcel inside so it's safe and not going to be damaged by rain.  It is far better than throwing it over the fence or leaving parcels in the first place they come across.  OP, I think your wife is being a bit melodramatic over a parcel being delivered.  Looking back on it, it may have been a surprise but was it really terrifying?
