As per the title really - I've set it to back up both weekly and/or daily ... but it doesn't.

Moto G31 on Android 12
"Back up to Google Drive - weekly"
Using cellular is 'on'
Include videos is 'off'

Why won't it do as it's told?

Is it only daily/weekly/monthly settings that don't work ?  Can you do a manual back up ?
Any updates pending for Whatsapp or Google Play Services or Google Drive ?
Have you tried turning off cellular to see if it will back up on wifi ?
Have you tried deleting Whatsapp cache ?

Yes - manual B/U works fine

Nope - all up to date

Not tried that - will do
Have you tried deleting Whatsapp cache ?
How would I do that? EDIT - done!

  • If none of that works, how about your battery or power settings for Whatsapp ?  Is the app allowed to Auto Launch, Secondary Launch, Run in Background ?

If I ever have bugs with Whatsapp that I can't get to the bottom of, I run a manual back up, reinstall the app, then back up from Google Drive.

Just had a bit of a rummage but can't seem to find much about those ...
    Battery usage is at 'optimised'
Open by Default - 'open supported links' is ON
    That's all ...

You'll want to let it run unrestricted also another thing you could try don't know of will work with Moto is long press on what's app icon then click I should then give you more options

    Run 'what' unrestricted?
Long press doesn't open anything different

Battery Usage should be unrestricted. If you have it set to optimised then the phone will shut the App Down if you haven't used it for a while.

Tried all of the above to no avail, apart from uninstall/reinstall - is that the only (long winded) option?
  • J_B  It shouldn't be a long winded process, considering the time that you have already spent on it.  I have reinstalled several times and it has only taken a few minutes each time.  It has always fixed whatever problem I had been having, hopefully it will for you too.
