Geriatricmum vs inner voice: A monologue

  • Buyers are still AWOL. Bridging loan is a non starter, so it's back on the market in the hope we can sell it quickly.

The developer is sympathetic and willing to wait for us, how long for I don't know. We're now having to get the house viewing ready.

    This is a disaster.

Our solicitor also said we should complain to the Scottish legal complaints commission regarding the buyers solicitor as they shouldn't have allowed them to back out at this stage, he suspects the buyers don't have a mortgage in place like they said they did when they signed the missives which makes their solicitor liable for something. But this is speculation.

Right now we're going to concentrate on getting the house sold ASAP then think about litigation after we're in the new house.
  • Oh what a nightmare. I'm sorry you are having this problem, and I really hope it gets sorted for you soon. It will all come right in the end, although I can understand that it feels like the end of the world at the moment. You can do this, strong lady!

Thanks KeepOnKnitting :) the buyers have come back after mulling it over the weekend 🙄 and decided to buy the house. So we're back on for Friday 11th exchange day.

We've asked our mortgage adviser to go for a new mortgage application as the rates have gone down so we should save on our monthly repayments, hopefully get that through by Thursday.

I'll be on tenterhooks until we actually exchange, the trust has gone.
  • So glad they saw sense. Fingers crossed for you.

  • Thank you both so much. I'm still going to keep going with my diary as I am not completely debt free, I still have a personal loan to pay off.

Now the CC debts are gone I can focus on that and of course inner voice will still be there telling me not to buy that thing and put it toward the emergency pot or the loan to reduce the term.

Currently battling with inner voice as to whether I should cancel and chuck the CCs or just massively reduce the credit limit and keep one of them to retain some sort of credit history or something.

I'm under no illusions that my spending could spiral again and I don't want the temptation to be there. I need to build a steady financial base for my children's sake.
  • Me "gonna check my credit report my cards should all show a zero balance now and that pesky 'you need to reduce your credit usage' notification should be gone now?!"

I would cancel them if you know your spending could spiral again; take away the temptation
