Oh that's awful. I'm glad you were able to catch him and get him indoors, but I think contacting the RSPCA is the right thing to do. Or maybe the Cat's Protection League?
He spent the night in my house last night and has come back tonight out of choice but the other cat won't come anywhere near me . The neighbour on the other side of those who were evicted has been feeding them and she says she is going to phone the cats protection tomorrow and she will take them if they have room

Poor, poor cats. People like that shouldn't be allowed to have pets!😡
I know it makes me so angry. They have known since August that they would be leaving so could have sorted the cats out in that time

Poor cats 😿 So angry about these despicable people 🤬 Thank goodness they have someone like you to protect them but you don’t need the extra stress right now.
I know what you mean I don't know how they could do it I've been listening to one of the cats crying all day but I can't get near it 😢

I help out with a pets lost and found group. We are being notified weekly by people whose neighbours have gone but left their pets behind. It’s heartbreaking,  especially when you see the state of some of these animals. All rescue centres and fosters are full, but they still go above and beyond to help us deal with these abandoned pets.xx
That's the problem we are having. The landlady phoned the RSPCA but they are full so they are coming out and feeding them until they have room but another neighbour is going to try the CPL tomorrow. My daughter is fostering a cat who was abandoned for the RSPCA he is 12 years old and has heart disease 😢he was absolutely traumatised but is now starting to come out of his shell. He still hides if anyone goes to visit and is terrified of noises or sudden movements. God knows what he has been through 😢

People are vile.  I hope the cats find a home soon.

  • This news about the cats has made me so sad - and it's no excuse that when you move you 'cant take your pets with you.

If nothing else can a shelter be out in the garden for the other one  - use straw not hay (straw is for strays hay is for horses) and if possible a snuggle safe heat pad so allow him / her to escape the cold and impending snow. (Yes i volunteer at a rescue too and have 3 shelters in my garden).

Thanks for helping them as much as you can - you are amazing!

I think she said there's an accessible shed with a cat bed in for the cat who won't be caught. I'm sure as a horsewoman she'll know about the difference between straw and hay. :)

It's so sad that one cat won't come in, but it's being fed by another neighbour, perhaps they can catch it. I'm glad though that they aren't being kept by the original owners, who don't sound fit to look after any living thing.

I can't decide just which is worse.  Locking a cat out in this weather or locking it in an "empty" house.  Although at least if they are outside other people can try to take care of them.

I do hope things are sorted out for the poor cats. 😞
And I hope you feel better too OBL.
What you said about the mess - I'd feel sick as well if I had mess like that on the other side of my wall! I do hope the landlord thoroughly vets the next renters!  My friend lets out a house - when her current renters applied she actually searched for the wife's Facebook page and had a look. She said she may have been stalking but it gave her an idea of what the family were like!
