I lost 95% of my sense of smell after a wicked bout of flu in about 1994. I also now can't abide the taste of coriander leaves (although coriander seeds are ok).
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?
  • I used to work in a place that had a woody/herby/smoky smell, specific to a couple of areas. Everyone but me was convinced it was haunted. However, we had a member of staff who would tend horses before coming on shift, then get changed for work, leaving her coat on an office chair. The smell was often outside that door or in a room on the same side of the building. I always reckoned it was the smell of hay on her stable clothes, but not associated with her because she changed out of them for work.

When she left, so did the smell.

That wouldn't account for your experiences, of course, I just like telling the story. :)

The house we now live in smelled of rose perfume in a particular cupboard for years after the previous family left.
My spare room has been smelling like my mums house because I brought her shopping trolley home and that's where I keep it. It reminds me of home every time I go in there and I will be sad when it wears off

  • Sounds horrible, I hope it eases soon.
Im not sure what's causing it but it's painful . It doesn't hurt if my arm is supported though 🤷‍♀️I walked around yesterday with my hand in my pocket and that relieved it

  • First of my 7 days off  today and I've had a nice day 😊 I got chatting  to  the painter and decorator who is doing next door up and he invited me in to see how it looks now. He has just painted the whole thing white and it looks like a completely different house. He's done such a good job of it. They are having carpets laid tomorrow then it will be finished.
The landlord was there when I got back from meeting my friend and he said he's got another tenant now as the last one fell through because it was more than she wanted to pay ( £1,300 a month 😳) he told me she works at the school up the road then later I got a message from the neighbour a couple of doors up and he was told she is a single mum with four children which he was worried about. I said well I've been here as a single mum and you haven't had any problems with me but it was the amount of children he was worried about 🙄I will reserve judgement until the poor woman has actually moved in 😀 They also have a man coming tomorrow to clear the gutters and he said he could do mine as well so I'm having that done tomorrow.

I met my friend for coffee and we had a good catch up because we haven't seen each other for a  couple of weeks. When I got home I was feeling very energetic so had a good cleaning session . All the floors have been hoovered and mopped and I did a load of washing.

I walked along the river to go and meet my friend so that was a good 30 minute walk . The weather here today had been lovely, we had blue skies and sunshine all day . This evening when the sun was going  down everything looked pink, it was really pretty.

My shoulder  was still playing up this morning so I took all my painkillers and it wasn't too bad all day but it's throbbing again now just in time for bed 😡I'm going to dose myself up and cover it in deep heat spray and that should solve it. I think it's coming from my neck because it hurts if I move my head to look up or to the right. I'm just going to keep going with the painkillers and basically ignore it 😀 I've got too much to do to be incapacitated this week so my shoulder will just have to man up 💪🏋️‍♀️

Second day off and I had to get up early which was a bit of a shock. I went to DD1s to be there for the washing machine man and the problem was a colour catcher sheet blocking the pump 🙄he advised not to use them. I popped into town on my way home to pick up some toiletries and a bit of shopping then came home.

The man was here doing my gutters  when I got back, they look lovely and clean now and I have paid him so that's all sorted. I did my ironing and ran the hoover round this afternoon but nothing else needs doing.

I got a letter from my housing society with my new rent amount so my budget has been updated. It's gone up by £15 a month so less of an increase than last year and it's still very cheap. I just need my council tax and my water bill now so I can see how much I'm going to be paying out. I'm hoping the water will go down a bit because I didn't decrease it when DD1 moved out and I've been here on my own for a year in March. I have not been wasteful with water but I also haven't been stingy as I want to be able to not worry about how much I'm using if it went down by the same amount that the rent has gone up that would be great 😀

I also had an email from PRA saying they have transferred my debt to PRA Holdings and nothing will change. I waiting for them to contact me about a payment plan and thought that was it. The good news was the balance they have is less than the balance I had by £185 so I've paid off more than I thought so I've updated my signature accordingly. I just need to work out how much to pay them now. My smallest debt is £359 and I'm so tempted to pay it off but that would have to come from my lump sum so I'm not sure it's a good idea. I just want it all gone though but I don't want to make any rash decisions either
