  • I hope things settle. My husband has had dodgy insides for a few days and has just tested positive for Covid. He mentioned that apparently respiratory illness can also affect the guts, but you'd know more about that than we do, via your work. It sounds nasty, whatever it was.

And I hope all the social arrangements work out this time around.
Each time I've had covid it's affected my gut. I lose my appetite and feel sick. DD1 had a dodgy tummy when she tested positive at Christmas. I'm 95%sure that I had covid last week . This would be my fourth time and I'm now recognising the symptoms. I always get an awful headache which takes ages to clear up. I've had a banging head all day today 😟

  • @Cherryfudge when I had covid, I had sickness and diarrhoea as part of it. It's such a weird illness

@Onebrokelady - I did think you might have covid, as it does seem to involve bad headaches & dodgy innards as well as the usual lergy symptoms. Having 4 bouts of it is more than your fair share. We've only had it once, but I know there have been cases amongst Mr F's work team recently, so it is defo not far away.

Cases are going up sadly 😟we have quite a few in the hospital at the moment along with Flu A which is also nasty. I had to do some obs on a flu positive patient yesterday and I did wear all the PPE so I hope I dot pick that up now as well. It's a normal winter at work now to have covid, flu and RSV doing the rounds. I did miss a lot of the RSV as that had its peak when I was on my retirement break and it does tend to effect babies more than older people.

So let's try again. Yesterday I managed to go to work but didn't feel 100% however I had a nice day despite that. I have to say I am enjoying my job a lot more now I'm only doing it two days a week 😀 I am working tomorrow then I have 7 days off because of the way my shifts fall 🎉🎉🎉that's like a weeks AL 😀

I have also decided to not renew my yearly bus pass that I get via work while the government are making the bus company charge £2 per journey. My pass costs me £56 a month but if I pay for my buses as I go at the moment it will amount to £48 a month for all the buses I normally catch. There is a catch to this and that is that I have to walk to town from work to get the bus home but I really need the exercise and figure the lack of a bus pass will be my incentive to walk. It's a 25 minute walk on the flat and then mostly downhill so not even that strenuous . I'm still going to budget £56 for travel then if I'm feeling poorly I have four bus bus journeys to use in an emergency. I'm fed up of paying for a bus pass that I can't always use. I will renew it when the cheap fares stop though because it will be better value.

Today I was supposed to go to my mum and dads but I don't feel great so I'm staying at home . I was also going to go food shopping but I can get by until Thursday with what I have in the house so that's not happening either.

People think of it as a respiratory illness but it's a multi system virus and I don't think there is any part of the body that it doesn't affect. I know that the people that have died from it have died from multi organ failure 😟
I didn't know that - but after my first Covid, although I didn't have it too badly, I was left able to do less. I've never worked out how much of this is because I never go running nowadays, but I definitely felt less fit, couldn't walk as fast as my husband anymore, just generally got more tired. At the time, I felt the virus was still squirreled away in some corner of my system for months after I tested negative. It was as if it found a corner I couldn't reach and lurked there.

DH is now his usual raring-to-go self but I'm prompting him to slow down and he admits he's a bit short of breath (though the pulse oximeter readings are okay).

I can really see the difference that your reduced working week had made for you! I used to work four nights a fortnight so I had a massive gap of ten days between blocks of shifts and I never felt in need of a holiday. :)

I hope you're feeling up to visiting your parents soon, but it's probably wise not to push yourself too much.
