Me again!
DGD2 slept for longer than expected earlier so I also managed to clean all the downstairs windowsills and stuff on them and s&sd downstairs loo.Spend less now, work less later.10 -
Thanks for the new thread @Natty68
It's been a strange weekend.
I had lovely DGD unexpectedly for a few hours Sat am. We had a great time so not much was done that day apart from general swish and swipes and some lunch, dinner and scone making. (Surplus scones frozen for later use)
Sunday, I woke up feeling awful so most of the day was spent schlepping in the armchair and doing not a lot apart from bingeing the Mr Bates vs... on ITVx. My, what a miscarriage of justice indeed! I really feel for those innocent post office managers and staff - I was particularly (spoiler alert!) flabbergasted by the PO's attempt to get the PI judge to recuse himself because the PO felt he was biased because he swayed towards the defendants' testimonies!!!!!
Did manage to cook a roast dinner, but didn't have the energy to wash up after.
This morning I woke up feeling much better so did a couple of WM and TD cycles (successfully) whilst trying to wash up but failing because the DW and kitchen sink wouldn't drain and the water kept flowing back into the DW and vice versa into the sink. I spent a couple of hours or so trying to fix it myself. I plunged and plunged, emptied the pea trap, took other things apart, cleaned them, refitted etc. etc. but nothing shifted. I put a shout-out on my local Facebook community page and had someone respond within a v. short time. I was happy with his quote so he came and unblocked the main pipe outlet that went through the wall (after disconnecting all the things that connected to it) with a large wet/dry vacuum cleaner. I now know what to do in future when it gets that bad! But I was grateful for his work. And he charged about a quarter of the price companies like Dyno-rod would charge for an emergency call-out. So a result in my book.
Indoor log store refilled (we've had the odd snow flake or two here this afternoon so felt it prudent to get extra in).
Off to cook dinner. Hope you're all well xxx

@flamingo747 I poured bicarb down the plughole. Then I poured white vinegar down and quickly put the plug in - so the fizz had to go down. Waited a few minutes then poured hot water down. A few proggles with a cotton bud to loosen gunk, more hot water, and voila a free flowing kitchen sink.
Get me being a Flylady with bicarb and white vinegar in the cupboard under the sink 😇
There is something quite satisfying when there's a sudden glunk and gurgle, and the water starts to flow freely.

Hi all
Funny old day, I really did not want to do anything but sadly I don't get paid for sitting on my backside staring into space. The heating has gone on the blink again at work too and it was freezing this afternoon which didn't help my state of mind. Last time I complained about it I got the world's noisiest fan heater which gave me a thumping headache.
I have been to Li@l for essentials but flying has been limited. Going to put the electric blanket on ready for bed. I will start afresh tomorrow.10 -
Hi folks, just catching up on the thread after a busy weekend. We met up with a friend for breakfast on Saturday morning then did about a 2 hour walk around a huge loch. I got in 16,000 steps that day!
Yesterday (Sunday) was a lot of housework and personal / business work. However, the weekend totally wiped me out and I couldn’t really get out of bed this morning because I was so tired and exhausted. I just needed a rest day.
Anyway, here’s what was flying on primarily Sunday:
DONES ✅
Took out compost
Loaded up dishwasher x infinity
Washed a load of clothes and hung them up or TD x 3
Emptied clean dishes from the dish rack
Washed big wok and other pans by hand
Wiped down and cleaned kitchen surfaces including the stove top and back splash
Seasoned & roasted whole chicken for dinner
Repacked and portioned up meat from Saturday’s butcher visit
Wiped down the top of the trash can
Laid out seeds on the concrete for the blackbirds and crows (the poor things can’t manage the fat ball holders/dispensers) — Mr. Jings did this
TO DO 📝
Declutter 10 minutes on the Table of Doom
Meal plan for the week
Make soup

I didn't get enough sleep last night but did a lot of admin after breakfast and then went to Action Heart. It was cold in the gym - I was glad I was wearing a long-sleeved thermal top! Found my programme easy despite the 3-week break, so I'm very pleased. This evening I have celebrated by eating far too many nuts and chocolates (because exercise makes me hungry... )
Stopped off very briefly at Merry Hell on my way home, to drop off some bits at the Air Ambulance CS just inside the main door and buy food for Rosie at the pet supermarket opposite. No non-essential purchases, and no/low-spend January is going well so far
Picked up my goddaughter and her sister from their home and brought them here. They ate a bit of lunch (PB sandwich for one, bacon sandwich for the other - though neither ate the crusts, which annoys me) while we finished up the turkey soup. After lunch I gave them scrap paper, felt-tip pens, biros, pencils, eraser and stapler, and they spent over an hour sitting at the kitchen table, drawing, writing, stapling and cutting. Meanwhile I cooked a bolognese sauce with lots of hidden veg for tea. When their mum K finally arrived, we ate it with pasta. They were very tired by the time they went home, and getting grumpy and niggly. Frankly I was glad to see the back of them.
I felt obliged to go to the Old Wives' meeting this evening, but when I arrived at church there were no lights on, the doors were locked, and 3 members of the group were standing outside in the cold: apparently one of our keyholders had forgotten, there was no sign of the other, and nobody else had turned up. We all turned round and went home, for which I was extremely grateful. Instead of yet another "knit and natter" about nothing in particular, I was able to enjoy the BBC2 quiz and art programmes in a cosy house.
Bedtime now, so I'll wish us all a good night xxx10 -
Spent some of night in WAC but got a bit of knitting done and some of the jigsaw puzzle so.....then overslept and had about 10 mins to wash, dress, eat and set off for zumba. Made it. Snowing a little when I drove home, via the library.
- one load through wm
- some CPD put on computer; must finish it (it is now on 'most critical' list) as I need to renew my assessment certificate soon and will need to send it to the inspectors.
- I'm not sure that I did much more actual flying....more pottering around, but am making progress with jigsaw and knitting. Trying to keep on top of tidying and all Christmas presents are away now.
- rang a friend who'd emailed and texted about us visiting him for a music evening, which we do regularly; I had intended to ring him but it seemed only a few days and he wasn't on a list!! Arranged to visit on Sunday eve.
- checked cinema web site as we'd planned to do a 'meerkat movie' 2 for 1 tomorrow, but oddly the film we planned had disappeared.....it was there when I looked yesterday! However it is on later on Wednesday so provided I get back from uni in time, we can go.
- booked tickets for local theatre for Feb.
- looked for more music to add to my drumming homework.
- went to 2nd zumba. golly it is cold outside but no more snow yet.
Downloaded some books onto Kindle.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -
some admin done inc a bl00dy stupid cancer survey which asked if i have had nausea and diarrhoea (which I have) but didn’t ask if i was on any medication which might have side effects…anyway i posted that, the council tax reduction application with supporting evidence for the aged ps and niece 2’s husband’s birthday card which is excellent as his birthday is not until the 13th so it should get there even if there are delays.
WUALTD, DW and WM both primed. Washing line dried today. Been to out swimming cancer.
Have started next knitting project as i want daylight and to focus to check where i am on other project. This was something i could do while watching TV. It’s Irish moss stitch so another first. Printed marmalade labels but not stuck them on yet.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

@soappie you should have rung Flyladies' very own plumber extraordinaire @roundtuit She would have sorted you out without a doubt. This morning I took a bag of rubbish and a bag of recycling down and then came back up with a parcel that had arrived. I then wrote a couple of Christmas thank you cards (a bit late but never mind), including this one, which I think is really lovely https://www.art-angels.co.uk/product/flycatchers-in-snow I then posted them and walked to the end of the road to get a slice of bacon for A. I also called in at the cheese and wine shop and bought a bag of the lovely crisps they sell there and to the greengrocer for a chicory and the corner shop for a paper. On the way back a few snowflakes appeared and just after I got back it came down more heavily, but soon stopped. I made lunch and washed up, then put a load of towels on to wash. After that A was complaining that his feet were cold so I suggested he tried the new alpaca socks that I have bought him as they are supposed to be extremely warm. I helped him put them on and he seemed to be very pleased with them. I then returned a call to my brother, made A a cup of tea and me a coffee and then rang my friend in Manchester whose father is in hospital (4 months now). He is well enough to come home but there is an ongoing saga about how he should be fed at home via his recently fitted feeding tube and how the training for my friend and the carers should be carried out and who does it and where. They saved his life, which is fantastic and we are very grateful, but unfortunately his subsequent treatment and issues relating to his discharge have been a textbook example of how unjoined-up the NHS can be.I started the TD (just finished), made supper, washed up, did the night time eye routine and now I just want to read for a few minutes and then go to bed.
