  • Was lucky this year, ended up with 2 xmas dinners for £0.

Always go to my bfs parents for dinner as i am from Australia and have no family here. My bfs Dads work gets a xmas hamper and my bf managed to get a job at the company this year, so hence 2 xmas dinners.

My bfs Dad got a turkey and my bf chose to get pork. So we've had xmas dinner with them and then we have a leg of pork and all the veg at our house. Thinking of cooking it tomorrow.

I've never seen a work give so much for a xmas hamper, meat, veg, chocolates, cheese, crackers, mince pies, xmas pudding, dates, cranberry sauce, custard, stuffing, bacon, sausages, pork pie, fruit. Everything you want and need to xmas, so have been very very lucky.

Dinner now eaten and even washing ups done.

Starter..............smoked salmon with salad............lad we look after turned nose up - 'don't like fish' he says

Turkey and all the veg.....................went down a treat -enjoyed by all.

Christmas pudding didn't get to the microwave............I was too full really and our lad once again says 'don't like xmas pudding or mince pies.'

Suggested cracker biscuits and cheese (he normally eats us our of house and home with cheese) but that fell on stony ground. So, still got christmas pudding intact and mince pies so far untouched untill I attack them later on.

Suspect our lad's appetite was more fixed on arrival of girlfriend and his PS2...........lol

I went to asda ready to get the fresh veg yesterday morning, only to get this lot

    6 leeks 5p
    ready made roast potatoes 20p
    chopped root veg 5p
    carrot and swede mix 5p
    broccolli 10p

got sprouts and carrot battons the other day for 10p each.

bought the beef a few weeks ago as I found a large joint reduced from 9 pound to 3 pound, cut it in half and froze both as only OH eats meat. only thing I bought full price was my turkey.

everything cooked beautifully, and it tasted even better knowing it was such a bargain.

this year me and my bf were cooking for our parents who haven't met before.

we live in a little flat and my poor lovely bf has been sick all night and day and my parents decided not to come so they didn't pick it up and pass it on to relatives including baby.

so it was me cooking for me and bf's mum, otherwise would have been beans on toast for her. whilst poor bf was sick.

i have a cat sharpener that meows when pencil goes up its bottom.
  • "Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, peas, parsnips!" :oGreenpixey you put me to shame and Riq "I ate a brussel sprout" :T , so did I once and that was one too many:rotfl: . Not an experience to be repeated methinks. At least you gave it a go, did you enjoy it?
  • I love brussel sprouts. Honestly. We had a tree of them and they were sweet and fresh and lovely.
