How did your xmas dinner go?

:o I made beef with yorkshire puds, stuffing, roast potatoes and brocoli and carrots. I tenderly cooked the beef and potatoes to perfection and the y puds turned out great. Has I was serving up remembered I forgot to cook the veg doh!!!!!! So we had our christmas meal without any veg lol

We're having ours towards 3.00; the lamb's out resting, just put the spuds in. The rest will go on a bit later.

  • um .... it didn't yet, will prob eat around 5.30/6.00. OH in kitchen putting bits together now, only we forgot to buy frozen parsnips. Only paying lip service to one of the advised 5 a day, it'll be frozen peas again then! Please don't mention sprouts .

Just finished eating ours. Made lamb on the bone (had advice from Old Style Board to cook it) Broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, peas, parsnips, roast potato and gravy. Really chuffed with it even my 3yr old and 4yr old eat it this year.:j

That's how I felt after spending hours slaving over the stove
  • The turkey crown is in the oven as I write, the potatoes are peeled. Otherwise I'm cheating with packet stuffings, frozen parsnips and pigs in blankets, though other veges will be fresh and gravy from scratch. There's only us 2, so why make alot of work?!

Homemade sherry trifle to follow. MMMMMMMMm!

OH is in charge and just back from the pub

Think we're eating around 5-5.30pm. Turkey cooking nicely, potatoes, carrots, parsnips all prepared, have frozen brussels as we like the taste better. Thought we'd lost the Christmas pudding but found it now..................lol Microwave one so that won't take long. Think we're having salmon and something for starters..........not sure yet. I'm keeping out of the way...............lol
Oh, and mustn't forget to remind him about the bread sauce...........he hates the stuff.................I love it.
Then got two bags of pressies to open.........bits and pieces my mates always get me and OH has kept his two pressies from me till after dinner.

  • actually, I didnt stress this year, bought most stuff ready prepared, threw it in the oven, threw together home made gravy & it was the best dinner I've ever made. Even my OH commented!
Truly....it was lush AND stress free.
Actually, I made 4 dinners......2 are in the fridge for tomorrow.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Stupid me managed to flick the oven switch OFF! half way through cooking and not even notice.

I got the Turkey out thinking it was cooked. I thought I would give it a nice long rest whilst I got the rest under way. It was not till i went to cook the veg I realised my error!!! I was so stressed. I carved my raw Turkey Crown and put it back in the oven covered with foil.

We ended up just having the veg as I still was not sure it was cooked, what a waste! The bits I did pick at were so tough.

Good job I got it yesterday from Mr T reduced to £5.
