Great idea to get a new wee furry friend.
    Mr M sends you purrs.
Oh thank you 🥰🥰🥰 he's such a beauty! I wish I could have a cat I absolutely love their cuddles 🥰
You could get a Sphynx 😬 or a Siberian.

I filled the room with Billy bookcases from Ikea. You could have a couple of really comfy armchairs or a very small sofa. If you have a chimney and a woodburner even better - otherwise a fake fire. Subdued lighting, dark colours, a couple of spectacular houseplants, and maybe a hidden drinks cabinet (I've always fancied one of those ones in a globe), and then it's a grown-up sanctuary. The extension is for when you have a houseful. The library is a retreat.

Yup, a room is just a room!  We have a tiny quirky room that we use as our 'tens-es' room ie where we go for our ten o clock morning cuppa lol, radio, a book, sun coming through the stained glass, gorgeous.   Not sure what else we would use it for but its perfect for that.  Previous owner did her yoga and meditation in there.

Glad there's some excitement in there.  I can understand the sadness, its grieving a stage of your life thats coming to an end,  I'm sure mothers the land over will understand.   But in every ending there's a new beginning and you'll grab it with both hands in your own time  :)

Youre doing really well, loving all the advice, this place has so many different viewpoints,  life experiences etc that its like a hive mind  :)

Fabulous ideas for rooms. A craft room sounds fun! But a library, that sounds right up your street dfw, floor to ceiling bookcases full of colour coded books 😭😭😭📚📚📚

You could get one of those horrible ‘naked’ cats ?

  • @Bananabreadyum you know it 🤣 I love a colour coded bookcase, it's like a puzzle only I can solve haha.
@dawnybabes those cats scare me 🫠😬 so I think I'll pass. I had a beautiful half main coon cat (I think that is how it's spelled) before I got asthma, when I was little, she was my 9th birthday present 🥰 and she was my other half growing up and well into my twenties. But then I developed really bad asthma (think living conditions made it so bad) and I suddenly overnight became allergic to cats, dogs, rabbits and most other animals. I would absolutely love another cat. But preferably one that doesn't scare the bejeebers out of me like those furless ones (same goes for big dogs too I'm scared of them 🙈🤣).

Siberians are supposed to be low-allergy. Maybe you should test one out?

I'm not fond of those hairless (freaks!! Blue shrieky face needed here lol sorry anyonethat loves them) creatures either !!  Poor wee things, they are meant to have fur!  I know sometimes folks are allergic to other animals but fine with their own but it could be expensive to contemplate that hoping it will happen unless u get a foster.

You'll get one that fits your allergies as you say, fingers xd for it appearing soon

    Your room sounds beautiful!
The empty room we have has a beautiful bay window in it and it got partially painted and DP built some lovely cupboards and shelves built in but we stopped because I think Xmas was happening and we couldn't work around all the furniture squeezed in at the time....but currently it stands empty with only two tiny sofas in, neither much good for lounging on, a couple of plant stands and a small bedside table we use as a lamp stand... thinking of selling what I can, finishing the half decorated room and then putting the rest of my books in there, on  book cases (currently in boxes in DS room) and making it into DP office/ library. I would keep one sofa in it. It has a wood burner in there so he could heat that room in winter whilst DD and I are at work instead of the whole house. And then he's moved downstairs out of a bedroom.

The bedroom he's in is the 'box room' so not much good for anything really but I was thinking it could be perfect for a dressing room? In our room in the loft we don't have space for a wardrobe, so DP made a make shift rail for us but our clothes are constantly spilling out everywhere. 🤔 This could be a really nice room to put all the clothes, bedding and excess of anything else in. 😃

Then we have DS room. I want to keep it for him but then it feels like a shrine and let's be honest, is he going to come home? Probably not which is why I keep getting so upset. He's a young adult now at 16 and likelihood is he won't come back. I'm thinking of using his room for a sofa bed and having it as a spare room and perhaps using it for a double function for something else but I'm leaving this one open to ideas at the moment. I've got two others to work on I guess in the meantime.
I'll see what DP thinks to my ideas of swapping him too. He might not want to 🫣!

@greenbee Ooo are they? And they're not scary hair-less ones? I'll look them up!

Thanks @daisy_1571i was looking for a puppy for a very long time and I happened to visit my dad and he had acquired a little dog since I'd last seen him and I wasn't allergic at all and that's when I realised hypoallergenic dogs were a thing! So I bought the same breed he had in case it was a one off 🤣. They're such lovely little dogs though I would definitely get the same breed again. And I concur on the feeling of those cats 🤣🤣🙈
