DP often talk about this and come to the conclusion we're done and then something really bugs us in the house and we start again 😭😂.
You see five years ago I was in a starter home. Ten years ago my ex and I bought it to flip it and move up the ladder because we started a bit too late with three kids for the starter home. Never happened and when DP came along three years after ex and I had separated, I still had three kids in that tiny house. So we had to do that one up to sell. Then covid happened and my dad had seen what we'd done with our house and offered us money to do his house up during lockdown (it was empty and was an old rental) so we did, that was two houses in two years. Then we moved because we desperately needed more space. Then we found out how awful the old area was for kids (and things you don't want them to be around - like drug gangs!) so moved again - by then we had already done that house up so that was house three. Now onto the fourth where we like the area albeit it's a bit of a busy road, but I see me staying here a while, but the house is so depressing as it's not been touched in decades....and I feel very deflated when I think back to the three beautiful houses we've left spattered here and there and I want to recreate it but have honestly lost all mojo for it. 🫠😩 But I keep going because I think I've left behind beautiful houses and I want to live in one of them 🤔🫣. But also can't be bothered doing it up too. It's very hard being me. 🤣MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Right plans for the weekend -
Today.... kitchen.
Tomorrow we have tickets to something I booked months ago when I had the energy to go. 🤔🫣 I will still go...but not sure I'm going to have the energy to party 🎉 🤣 still it will mean we have a day off so all good.
Today's jobs for me are sanding and filling bits on the walls around sockets and coving. Then once dried I will paper or paint over the top (I'm papering some bits and painting other bits).
DP has a few jobs to do still which I can't help with. His tools all died yesterday because of the battery. I suggested buying a new one and his tools are old and the new batteries don't match his tools 🤔 he has so many of these tools we can't possibly replace them all (de walt) so not sure what to do there. Hopefully they're all charged enough today to finish the jobs needed.
Yesterday we got all handles on and worktops in place but we had wrong colour sealant so we need new stuff today to start securing them all together....we are so close to the kitchen being usable...!
I need to go shopping too haven't much food in. Dinner last night was stir fried seitan, cauliflower and broccoli with plain rice and omg it was yum. I had clearly been lacking in veg and plain stuff not smothered in horrible takeaway oils and sauces that give me belly ache. 😂 I would usually moan at such a bland dinner lol. Cannot wait to be able to cook properly again....I'm still using old hob so it will be nice to move over to the new one.
Right off to get started 😀MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I was about to put together a tall cupboard I bought as a dining hatch type thing and Only one box arrived and it's damaged inside 🤦🏻♀️. I didn't realise three boxes were supposed to arrive so I'm on hold now to see what's happened...I think when I sort this out I will take the cardboard to the tip we have SO much of it it will help to massively clear the carport out without that there.
I've already plastered (very lightly skimmed and smoothed) the chimney breast and around one light but can't do the rest as DP is installing the worktops (yay!) so will make myself useful at the dump lol.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. My father also was a rubbish dad. I basically picked the same thing as I'd grown up with 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️. Live and learn (slowly in my case).

I've reached the end of my tether and energy. I'm not going out later for the event I booked. I've been up all night. I cannot get my brain to stop thinking, am exhausted and tearful. Feel on the verge of a mini breakdown to be honest.
DS is ignoring me (make that both of them) I keep going over and over and over things and it's making me ill tbh. I've messaged him and told him I love him and that he can come to me when he's ready.
DP I don't think is even bothered about going out I reminded him of it yesterday and today he's already talking about other things to do today so I've decided I'll just quietly not bother with going out. Bit of a waste of money but I really don't feel like partying or being in a very busy and loud environment.
He's also very quiet if I have a moan or talk about my concerns with DS which isn't helping me at all.
Sorry for being a downer but this is reality. Am burned out.
Also had an email from the extension people they forgot to put the extras on it. So the money needs to come back out for that from savings. At least I have enough so won't need cc. Was hoping to have some left to perhaps have a couple of nights away in sept or Oct but not looking likely.
Not doing very much today am too tired. And although the kitchen looks so nearly there there are a list of jobs to do as long as my arms put together still so not bothered about rushing through it as not really an end in sight atm.

Sorry to hear you are feeling down, I think some of it is because you are exhausted from all of the DIY that has been going on. Sending hugs and to let you know that you are not alone. Maybe you can sell tickets on FB as you can't go / don't fancy going.
Is the kitchen useable now?
I've been starting to look for a few days away in the half term but not managed to find anything we can afford as yet. Like you I need something to look forward to.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

Oh hun … I can feel your exhaustion from here.
Sending a huge, big comforting hug.I’m not surprised you’re burned out - you’ve been pushing yourself so hard for so long. Please, just take time to rest, chill out and eat healthy food. And get out of the house a bit, just somewhere quiet like a park where the DIY is not on top of you x
