@beanielou I completely agree! I was usually downstairs so couldn't hear what was being said although I could tell friend was on the phone a couple of times.
@KajiKita @pennywisepoundstupid it was utterly exhaustingthese are the sorts of dramas I deal with day in and day out at college though in my day job so said all the right things. I think. I also said same as you @daisy_1571 that I had been feeling super sorry for her and was less so now. I understand she comes from a traumatising household with all I have been told but I felt she could have stuck up for her friend (DD) especially as we were hosting her all week! I have also said same about just make some excuses and let the friendship naturally peter off... it seems friend has struggled to make connections since moving to Scotland and I can see why now if she is putting ex BF above friends.

I am sat typing this in the new extension. Had my dinner, plate perched on my lap, french doors wide open, garden chairs in the new room to sit on
it's much quieter back here and it is also lovely to look out on the garden rather than the driveway
Irony not lost on me that I am sat in an expensive extension eating my go-to poor dish of rice and beans and a couple of sausages chopped up into it
The plaster has almost dried thanks to it being warm today. Just the ceiling needs plastering now.
DP is out with DD on a driving lesson, she seems relaxed and back to her usual self today. I could see she was stressed all week but I hadn't realised how much. She has her theory booked for next week! Hopefully that will go okay too. She is loving driving her new car so I hope she learns quickly and then she can be out with either DP or me - I am not confident to teach her after DS1. He was a nightmare with me and I refused to teach DD> until she can handle the car and already drive okay. DP is more chilled than me. I struggle to drive the new car still too so probably not best I try to get involved, it's getting easier but I keep revving it up trying to find the biting point. Going from a 1.2 to a 2.0 S line is a trick I haven't learned yet. DP seems to be able to adapt to any *clicks fingers* just like that. I keep looking for 6th gear too and nearly putting it in reverse
I have spent the day pulling out plants I had planted. I g00gle reverse image searched these huge things growing and they are definitely not what I had planned in that place. And yet they are what I planted. So I am wondering if the seeds were in the wrong packet ? Could that be possible? The garden looks much better now, these weeds had got to 6-7ft 😬🤔 and were absolutely smothering some of the other things growing. I left two in the wildflower patch but the rest has all come out so my courgettes, runner beans and other things can have a chance to spread out now. I have corn growing and can see the silks sticking out so assuming the corn is growing. I was told by someone I didn't have enough to grow any but I had four plants and planted them in rows of 2x2 and they seem to be doing fine. I have a load of gherkins I have picked. Not sure what to do with them I have only ever eaten pickled gherkins...will have a little search on what to do with these. Have lots of them! Cucumbers are coming daily too and so is the tomatoes now, only a few of those each day but still I am pleased lol. I also cut the grass and it's helped hoover up all the odd bits of rubble and stone from the building works. I will rake it over too to help and then lay some seed when the builders are completely finished. It looks much better already though. It's been a nice quiet day with not much achieved but I didn't really care.
I did do a mini shop earlier the friend in all her excitement of doing lots of washes had used all my washing liquid up! there was at least 20 washes left in that before she came 🤣😭. Also picked up new chopping boards and some other small bits for the new kitchen. They've all been put with the other new kitchen bits I have been saving in the garage. The kitchen as it stands is almost bare. We have emptied out lots of cupboards for electrician and plumbing to be sorted so I thought it best to leave all the new bits in a box until new kitchen starts going in -in hopefully less than three weeks!
I have shuffled some money about and I will be okay for August even after having broken into the aug budget already 😏👀😭. Summer hols for kids come every year. AND yet........every year I am equally surprised as I was last year that they cost so damned much 😑🤔🙈😂. My eldest DS started school 22 years ago........that's 22 summers to have realised this. Why am I only realising now I need to save a tonne of money for these 6 weeks. Hmmmm.
Right off to do a bit more gardening as it has cooled nicely.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. just caught up, wishing you a restorative few days, but, my goodness that poor girl. No parent to model or even tell her what is acceptable and what is not. I feel so sad for her. I know I cannot fix the world but sometimes i wish I could.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -

I've only just realised how late it is! I've literally only just stopped for the day. We ended up going to bed super late yesterday. DD watched a movie with DP and I and then we ended up having a bit of a karaoke session until gone midnight 🤣. I had a few G&TS and then struggled to sleep well so by the time I got up today it was nearly 10am.
Feeling a bit delicate today 😣 and DP has bought a massive bloody drill thing and is smashing up concrete floors with it 🫨🤕
However I got the chimney breast plastered. It isn't perfect but I think it will be ok. I also collected a small rattan/ bamboo dining set 2 chairs that tuck nicely under the matching table. £20. Bit of a faff collecting it as we have an awkward shaped car- I had to go back with DD for half of it and put the roof down to fit it in. Thankfully not too far to go. Once we have a proper dining set I will delegate that to our garden furniture I think.
DS was ignoring my messages. I messaged ex. He ignored them too. DD rang him and he went on a moan about having to work really hard and how he has a proper job to do. DD got offended as she thought it was a dig at her not having a proper job, which she does. 🤦🏻♀️ Anyway long story short DS is not coming home until Mon. This has been delayed twice already so I'm not holding my breath. The house is in utter disarray anyway so I just wanted to know either way. Our kitchen is without half a floor atm so we are having a takeaway tonight. I'll get a cheap veggie kebab I think as I'm getting fed up of junk food.
Right off to see if DP has finished. It's gone quiet (thank goodness!)MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Had a nice veggie kebab just peppers, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes with a massive salad on it. Off to bed now with a movie on my laptop before an early night.
I will get DS room ready tomorrow now seeing as though he's not home until Mon 🙂.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
