And yes it does on the GF thing I was so annoyed with myself it was a momentary lapse of judgement and checking whilst watching a movie with my DD. I was super annoyed with myself afterwards and didn't feel well either as a result.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I have never aspired to be a super organised personNEVER gonna happen, not interested. I control what I need to in work but in my personal life I like to go with the flow.
But I get the getting to eat well on xmas day...DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Love Pho (we’re all GF in the house plus one shellfish allergy)Sealed pot challenge 822

We stumbled across Pho in our city as it's a new restaurant...we were actually trying to get into another restaurant and they were fully booked (once again foiled by the pre-bookers and I was a let's chance it on the day for whatever we fancy) and pho was just up the road when we got turfed out of our preferred option. We didn't actually want it but we were super hungry by that point and chanced it- we actually preferred it over our first option and sat there all smug in a quiet restaurant with a nice mocktail and buddha type bowl 😆 so we go quite often now when we don't have the kids 🙊 - can't easily afford four of us!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Morning all, meeting up with a friend at lunch now not this morning. She didn't sleep well (is there something in the water as this has been me all week!) so we've pushed it back. I'll drop her at work on the way home as she works in the city so on the way back anyway.
I need to put a wash on this morning and have a quick hoover around. I slept better last night. Don't recommend my method but it worked for me as I was getting pretty desperate and grumpy from two nights of no sleep. I did what my grandad used to do- a shot of something in your tea. I found some hazelnut liqueur which tasted yummy in herbal tea 😆 and then followed it up by the last dregs of it in some ice whilst we watched a little bit of TV. I slept well, finally!
I want to do a bit more embroidery today too I'm getting on well with my second one now. Ooo I may have a pic of my first on my phone I'll add it to this post. Lots of mistakes - it's been an age since I embroidered and I'm glad I started off with sampler type practice ones now 😆
Dinner- who knows? I need to go through the freezer. It needs eating down as it is in need of a defrost after one child who won't 'fess up, left it slightly open for a few hours.
I've had a refund from s'burys this is the third week in a row now that I've had bad fresh produce - the satsumas literally go mushy and mouldy the day they arrive and being organic they're super expensive. Ditto for the lemons. And carrots. So I asked for a refund and that's just arrived back in the bank. £4/5 odd back there ...
Need to start buying some Xmas presents soon really. Have the stocking stuff, although I've actually said to DD if your dad is that unknowledgeable about what goes into a stocking (he is I've always done it), then he can just give me what I paid for your stuff and he can have it...at least then I know they have stuff in there that they both like. So we'll see. If he gives me the money for it it's around £50 👏🏼 if not then no matter means I can just buy less for them anyway as there's quite a few bits in the stocking.
I made another fail on the shopping at the weekend. I was in a rush to change the basket before cut off point and you know at the point where you're nearly at check out and it says- hold on! You've forgotten some favourites! Are you SURE you don't want this...and faves pop up. Well I stuck some ready made pukka pies in that we haven't had in months -- obviously not GF -- once again I was having a divvy moment so I have a spare pie for one dinner. DP suggested scooping out the insides and having it on some toasted ciabatta bread (leftover from our bruschetta I made last night) so I might do that. He will eat the outside of the pie, or DS will, so no waste anyway...
Need to be more mindful when doing the shopping this week!!
Tonight I'm going to make a Buddha bowl inspired by our talk of pho this morning 😆...air fryed tofu, rice, fried and seasoned chickpeas, mango, salad and will see what other bits I can add to it from the fridge/ freezer. Kids love these dinners too. Oh and last night DS2 sent pics of his dinner (aubergine and courgette ratatouille) and starter (bruschetta) to his GF and she wanted the recipe, awww I always hoped a child would be interested in my cooking and appreciate it....was just hoping it would be one of my own. But I will take the win where I can get it 😆😆. She loved my cottage pie too the last time she was here, said it was way better than her mum's one and could she have the recipe to make for them. I said it was vegan and that they probably wouldn't appreciate or approve of it but I gave it to her anyway 😁 that seems to be my signature dish that wins omnivores around in my house without complaint. -- hence why I did it when I heard she was coming! And a win for my fussy DD - she wanted to try bruschetta last night and actually ate all of it. She usually picks apart new foods and won't eat anything she doesn't recognize (and it was all cooked together so I thought that was the first fail) but she ate it all! And said that she liked it!!
