Just caught up. You are an inspiration on the power of manifesting your visions.

I was just looking at my vision board which has my vision of how the new build barn on the land would look and realised that the inside of my house almost looks like my vision for the inside of that barn.    (I'm not sure planning permission would ever be granted for what I want but I'm keeping it on my board for now).
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Not only have the school sprung a ski trip on us right before Christmas but also a year 10 trip with limited spaces, first come first served trip that will cost £200. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I could never afford to send DS1 on ski trips but thankfully with his job he's learned to ski, and sail as well as a few other things I could never afford to have ever done with him. However I felt bad as all his friends used to go on the trips and he missed them all. I always said I'd try to send DD and DS2 if I could and if they wanted to go .... But jeez two expensive trips right before Xmas?

I paid the ski deposit £150 😳...but I don't think I have the money for the residential as well if they need it before the end of the year. However DD and DS1 both went on end of  primary school residential trips and DS2 just happened to leave school in a lockdown so never had the chance. So I feel like I have to send him on this to have made it fair. Does this make sense?
Anyway I'm now lumbered with trying to find the money for it. I will register interest and you never know he may not be offered a place anyway. I don't understand why they offer limited places it should be available to all rather than first come first served and we should be given longer to apply for it/ pay for it. Only those with lots of spare money each month or big pots already filled (not me!) would be able to afford this with no thought as to where the money is coming from.
    Rant over.
Thank God DD doesn't want to go on the ski trip too. 😳🤣

Fridays are literally my worst day at work. They're just awful. The students I work with and the lessons. Two hours left after lunch..I will officially be dreading every Fri from now on though. These few hours this morning have dragged big time. Teacher has no clue nor a single care.

I also woke up with dizzy spells again and sickness. Actually technically I went to bed not feeling very well and feeling nauseous. Thought It was just something I'd eaten but I'm now thinking it may be the bug going round.

Started moving some money around already so it's not just sat in my bank staring at me. Need to do some more later but need to work out what's going where.

DP is off down south tomorrow to see his mum as it's her birthday. He's going to surprise her which is nice as she's been having a rough time with her health lately..I'm staying at home with the kids and have ordered Mr S for Tomorrow and will catch up on washing etc.

Ha I love how these manifestations have a whole energy of their own and will manifest in ways we don't expect 👏🏼😁

  • I have managed to still spend £110 on my online shop  even though we have lots of dinners in already. That was fruit, veg, bread, tea, snacks, lunches and some toiletries and that was about it! YIKES! I got 5% cashback but still....way too much. It is definitely the having to order GF & normal on lots of stuff. It's like having two separate shops in one. Once it arrives and I see what is substituted etc I will add up monthly grocery spends for Nov. But already know it is huge and totally too much ....
And tonight we are having a takeaway. Payday treat. And I deserve it!

  • Hope you are feeling better and your Xmas actually sounds quite relaxing !!

Keep on With the YNAB it’s worth it ;) the YNAB Hannah videos are short and to the point in various topics so worth a few mins
    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

  • Enjoy the takeaway, I was tempted after a hard day, but did jacket potatoes instead.  I'd be in a smug glow but I had wine and chocolate pistachios instead.

I've resisted one all month and finally cracked. It was good though and worth item cost a small fortune though for four of us.
Enjoy the wine and pistachios ☺️

  • Morning all,
DP has disappeared to his mum & dad's house until tomorrow. I would have gone but it would have been too much rushing about before and after to get everything clean/ bought for Monday and school/work again and it's a 6/7 hour round trip I didn't fancy. So instead I am in pjs, the shopping has been ordered for this afternoon and I have a movie on, the heating on and a cuppa.

Just sorting through some transfers and moving some money about so it's in the right accounts.
There is currently £489.05/1300 in the SBF- the amount I need for this is approx as we owe 1500 at 0% but each month that total has been coming down so I think by the time I have £1300 it will be enough to pay it off. I cannot wait to see that gone because every time I see it it reminds me we need new carpet here but we're still paying off the old house's carpet that we aren't even using any more
There is £2561.91 in the EF. I want £3k for my first goal.
I've put across to the yearly subscription accounts, paying in some money for YNAB, Prime, car insurance next year.

I still don't know what a full month's pay will look like for DP (or me in fact) but this will be his first month's full pay so we should know by Monday. I have gone with worst case scenario for my budget and hoping we should have a bit more than the figures I have used.

So here it is (for month December- I am going to do a proper SOA when we have both our full wages, xmas is over and I can start afresh next year on all pots and school trips etc):

    House

    Mortgage:     660
    Water:           51
    Gas/Elec:      120
    Internet:         37
    Insurances:    50
    Car:               271.50
    Council Tax:  168
    Mobiles:         21
    contact lenses: 38
    =1416.50

    Savings pots for next year
    Car:                50
    YNAB/Prime: 15
    =65

    Other savings:
    MOP 60
    EF   100
Xmas 300 (had to double this because I had borrowed from it recently and it's lacking)
    =460

    DEBT
    Personal loan (carpet): 93
SBF (to pay off carpet): 400
Car loan should probably be down here too but I added into household bills....
    CC is paid off
    =493

    Other spends for the month:
    Groceries 600
Pocket Money for all of us 450 (200 each adult, 25 each child)
    Dining out: 60
Tickets for events next year on klarna: 163
Household maintenance/DIY/ Items needed: 200 (I will add to this if we have any more wages due on top of what I have budgeted for DP).
    Clothing: 30
    hosting site (DPs bills) 25
    =1528

    TOTAL= £3962.50

We should still have £100 or so left over but I wanted to leave that out of the budget as a buffer (may already be spent anyway because of my overspend this week on final Mr S shop of the month).

No doubt by January's budget I will have played with the numbers more and things might be once again split differently  and any extra pay from me will probably then go towards DS's ski trip and if he gets a place also the residential trip..... Not making much headway into paying down the mortgage here am I. But at least I have a small OP going over I suppose. Once the carpet is paid and the EF is at £3k I might start splitting that money to more OPs at that point.

Also I need a new mobile phone. Mine was DS1's old one anyway and I have had it maybe 3 years now so it's about 6 years old. I am having trouble charging it and when I finally get it charged it drops at a normal rate from 100% battery to 50% and then 50% will go down within minutes sometimes to dead. I am worried I won't be able to charge it at all soon enough and all my details etc will be stuck on a phone I can't access. So I think most of my pocket money will be gone this month on buying a replacement

Right off to finish my film and do some bits before shopping is due!
