  • We decided on Manchester as Scotland was just too far for such a short trip (takes half the day via train or car!) and then I got lost down the rabbit hole of trip advisor and found lots of galleries and museums and architecture I'd love to see. So the spa idea is on hold now. We've booked a couple of nights in a cheap hotel, and are making a fun itinerary grown up style that the kids would hate (so thankfully they're not coming)... we've also found a whole host of restaurants close by that will cater for both of us. So much so I want to move there as our city is rubbish for catering for us.
So we have something to look forward to 👏🏼😁

  • Feeling so drained this morning. I was going to walk in as I enjoy the fresh air but I'm just so tired I've asked DP to take me.
I'm super glad I had the foresight to make the easy peasy meal plan. Otherwise we most def would have succumbed to take aways by now!
The capsule wardrobe is a great idea too. I literally pulled out the first trousers and top to hand this morning and they matched and I didn't have to think about it 👏🏼
Really looking forward to the weekend though. I think it would help if this cold I have would just go now. It's mostly gone but the last bit is just lingering like a bad smell 🤣 (I.e runny nose!!)
Today will be a NSD! I'm leaving my purse at home!! 😁👏🏼
Just catching up - totally agree about a capsule wardrobe / I have just a couple of pairs of trousers and a couple of tops I’ve been wearing to work on repeat for over the past year and it saves me having to think about decision making first thing. I also take the same food to work everyday and eat the same breakfast. I know it’s not the most exciting but I can’t make decisions and think about work simultaneously:) glad the new job is going well

  • Afternoon all,
@Idreamofplants it came in handy this morning when I pressed snooze 3 times and had to grab whatever was available :joy: turned up to work just in time.............and I had turned up an hour early  ughhh second week in a row now. Anyway it gave me an hour to finish some training off (fraud training *rolls eyes* is this fraud? YES. is this fraud? YES. I realised I could just click yes to everything and get through that nice and quickly  And also got some paperwork done. The day was nice and easy, and I love the group I am with. Not sure what tomorrow looks like yet as I haven't got a permanent group on a Tuesday yet. Friday was such a nightmare I have had three separate members of staff come to talk to me about it today. I was quite grateful though as I really don't feel very supported at the moment and kind of thrown in at the deep end with not much training there.

    Was a NSD *yay*
I also have had dribs and drabs of money from surveys paid over to me over the last couple of days, I think about £25-30 in all, will check and see where I can put that (might need to stay in my account for now to cover hotel costs, and also ski trip etc- not that it will cover all that  but can help a little).

Dinner is very thoughtful and difficult tonight. Sausage, chips and beans. Don't be too jealous of the gourmet dishes on offer here, seriously it will be back to boring veg ones tomorrow

It was my preferred place to go! But 5-6 hours journey for just 2 nights and right before xmas was a no no for us. It's meant to be relaxing not stressy travel time

  • Morning, I didn't sleep a wink. I've got big bags under my eyes, that's the second night on the bounce with no sleep now. Hot flushes had returned too- confirms to me it is definitely gluten causing this because I messed up the other day and ate something with wheat in by accident. SO that's two nights in a row now I've had horrible sleep and hot flushes when that had all but disappeared 😒☹️ NOT impressed.
    And so tired.

Work today but then have tomorrow off. Have a trip out with a friend tomorrow morning to a garden centre as they've a lovely Christmas display on. I will see what their opening times are when I'm there so I can bring DD as she loves things like this. It's my friends birthday next week so I will see if she has her eye on anything whilst we're there and perhaps pop back and get it for her.

We've got the hotel booked for our mini getaway (DP got money back via a work app) but we need an itinerary of things to do. An open one preferably so we can see what we fancy doing on the day especially taking weather into account, but one with notes about when things are open till in the run up to Christmas and whether we need to pre-book.
We're going 22-24 of December so a real Christmas treat 😁 and I don't need to be back for the first time ever to do stockings, Xmas movies, and our usual Xmas Eve ritual ... I'm glad I'm doing something different so....need to research what is open and when and how much I don't want it being a case of traipsing across an unknown city and finding the venue we wanted to go in was closed up early for Christmas.

Luckily I'm pretty easy to please and I'm actually looking forward to taking pictures of the old buildings and cathedral etc as that's my usual hobby anyway 😆 so that's nice and cheap or free. Must also book some restaurants. We've had disappointment before on holiday and not been able to eat where we'd planned as they'd booked up a week in advance 🙄 so I intend to do the same as those annoying super organised people this time and be just like them 😁 😉

Right back to real life and work....I am praying it's a good one today as I still don't know what my regular Tues looks like. .. today might be the day I find out. I've my fingers crossed it's a good group and easy day.

    DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
