Really been missing my beautiful boy this last week FLD was always my companion (albeit just before he went he would just sleep more and more and not follow me around). I keep turning round to talk to him and keep making enough dinner for a bit for him too. 😢 Wish this would pass as every time this happens I just feel tearful and so sad again.

I was busy enough today so my mind was well and truly off FLD but as soon as I step into my home.......he was always there. I don't think I will ever feel okay with it. I think I have grieved more for him than I have some of my family members who've passed 🙈
Last night was a late one and I spent most of today wishing it was home time at work
I am doing dinner then getting myself up to bed. I am shattered.
Nearly a NSD but sadly my energy was flagging so much I was naughty and bought a bottle of cola to keep me going.
Work is still going okay 👏 I have not come home moaning once. I am super happy about this more than the poor people around me who have to listen to me moaning because I was beginning to feel like a right moaning minnie and isn't my default state (at least I like to think so anyway.) So the fact I am coming home still happy and not worked off my feet- literally in the last two jobs- is making me feel like I can stick this one out.
And a funny thing- I was introduced to someone I would be working with today, and in private told, they might be too much for you as you're new, just to make you aware they're one of our worst ones for behaviour...............before I moved- this person was in the school I worked in.....so I know them VERY well and actually knew more about them than the current teachers knew about them. I wasn't put off, I knew their background, issues and said that they were NOT one of the worst ones in the school they came from (much to the teachers horror that there were worse kids out there than this one).
I met another new starter and she grabbed me on a break- please can I have your number I am feeling a bit out of depth and don't really know what I am doing (ha- like I know what I am doing). I gave it to her though as I don't think she knew anyone else. I have been trying to memorise names but have been introduced to over 50 staff members and probably the same amount of students and my brain has just said- NO. So I gave up with that idea.MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. May 1st, £116, 123, June 1st, £115,536Mortgage Overpayments - September-December, £152.46. Afternoon all, It's my day off
I have spent the morning back and forth between mine and my friend's house. She offered me some fruit trees so I said wait till my day off so I could come over for a cuppa and catch up as well as just collecting trees. Was good to see her and properly catch up. I couldn't fit all the trees in! She had 5(!!) put aside for me. So I took three and said I would come back and also take her to work on the way back through as I had to go through town anyway. I basically spent most of my lunchtime driving back and forth, then I took DD to school too as I was already in driving mode
I came back and had to find homes for 5 trees. She said they were dwarf varieties, however, I have bought dwarf varieties before that have turned into 20ft monstersso rather be safe than sorry and find a permanent home for them somewhere in the ground in case they turn into big ones. We've decided on the side of the fence where there is currently flowerbeds (teeny ones) that are filled with stones
of course anyone following my garden progress won't be surprised that they are filled with stones rather than flowers because that seems to be mostly what we inherited with the garden. TONNEs of stones and wood. There is one flower bed up from that that is filled with shrubs/bushes akin to the ones you find in t3sco car parks. They're coming out. They're pointy, sharp horrible things and serve no useful purpose and are leggy and overgrown. I am in the middle of taking them out. There seems to be a nice rowan tree in that bed too but it is surrounded by 'orrible bushes and an overgrown vine that has crept up the trunk of the nice tree and started strangling it. So I am carefully trying to remove that too. My green bin is overflowing though so not sure what to do with all the mess now. I now have 2 more apple trees, 2 plum and 1 surprise. Friend is unsure if it is pear, apple, plum or something else
I already have 3 apple trees (mature ones) and 1 pear so I am planting an orchard in my garden it feels like (and it's not the biggest garden in the world
)
Not a nsd I had to get cable ties and rubble sacks to transport the trees. We also bought a new edging tool the last one fell apart.
I am doing well not spending lots of money at work, I am bringing in lunch and snacks too and plenty to drink as well as herbal tea bags if I want a hot drink. It is saving me a fortune as everyone else seems to just buy lunch there (approx £2-5 per meal!)
DS's report came through of expected grades for GCSE if he stays on target and he has all 7/8/9 so far! And he has only just started year 10. The year he had off homeschooling I think has done him wonders, he's got through puberty, can go back and concentrate now and is the oldest in the year (by 3 weeks) and I am hoping he will carry on as he is so far. DD in fact said she wished she had gone back a year. They both missed out so much during lockdowns. Online lessons were a total fail in the school they were in. Teachers spent most the lesson trying to work out how to use zoom properly.
I spoke to someone at work about payday and it is the 23rd so I may not even get 2 weeks worth of pay next pay run as they seemed to think the cut off point is quite early onthis year has just been a total write off for continuity and ability to pre-plan anything because we have no idea what is coming in.
DP will at least get a full wage as he will have been there a month now, I guess my first proper wage will be just before xmas. Suppose I just ought to write it off now as - this year was all about setting us up for next year afresh so we can start budgeting properly going forward. I need £600 wages to be able to fully fund all my pots, and more if I wish to start a holiday/ DIY fund on top of that.....MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. Feeling so drained this morning. I was going to walk in as I enjoy the fresh air but I'm just so tired I've asked DP to take me.
I'm super glad I had the foresight to make the easy peasy meal plan. Otherwise we most def would have succumbed to take aways by now!
The capsule wardrobe is a great idea too. I literally pulled out the first trousers and top to hand this morning and they matched and I didn't have to think about it 👏🏼
Really looking forward to the weekend though. I think it would help if this cold I have would just go now. It's mostly gone but the last bit is just lingering like a bad smell 🤣 (I.e runny nose!!)
Today will be a NSD! I'm leaving my purse at home!! 😁👏🏼MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. May 1st, £116, 123, June 1st, £115,536Mortgage Overpayments - September-December, £152.46. Jan £103.27, Feb £115, March £91.50, April £100, May £200, June £200.

Ah thanks KK appreciate the cheerleading into the weekend 👏🥳 I wish it were Friday already though. I started off the day tired and spent the day with 8 very grumpy tired young adults who did not want to do anything. My DBS is not back yet, I have only just done buccal training and yet was kind of thrown into the deep end with that today, best say no more. But am very tired and drained from a high needs student today as well as 7 others calling me for help every 5 minutes.
I am happy we've got fajitas for dinner though, so quick and easy. Have got the rice soaking now...
DP has been busy finishing the job I started yesterday and ran out of light for.....he's digging up planted xmas trees (that we mistook for a bush as it had been lopped off at the top and kept wondering what type of bush it was) and other nuisance spiky or too big bushes. The garden looks way bigger without them as they took up 2 metres across the garden from one side- just solid bushes with really not much colour or interest. We still have roots to dig up. There were no birds nesting btw I quite literally stuck my head in there to check
I think they were so overgrown the birds have moved to a few bushes further into the garden that were prettier (do birds care about pretty?
I think I am tired and talking nonsense now).
Where we have taken those out though I will plant trees straight into there- so that is this weekends garden job. Still need to get the roots out first though which look massive 🤔
Today was a NSD 🥳👏 can I get a woop woop. I don't think I have achieved many this month at all. I feel like it is something to be celebrated.
I am annoyed at myself that my A^^azon purchasings are getting out of control again. We needed light bulbs- oh I know I will order on A-zon. I need toothpaste- Oh I will just order that too. Need plant spray? Yes add that too. I have been doing this since starting work and buying something almost every day. Ugh! Need to stop this. It is these little misc. spends that get out of control and ruin my budget.
So my aim is to get to Monday without purchasing anything on there! I can do this!
One more day at work, I have an official induction in the morning then I am hoping for an easy afternoon as I am totally wiped out. I really really really really want a takeaway. WHY?????? Is it just a comfort thing? Lazy want someone else to use their pots and pans thing? I have plenty of nice food in and yet I am just craving one. I may see where the budget is tomorrow and if we can afford one. I am drooling over the thought of poppadoms, chutney and yummy curry 🤤. Saturday marks our mid way through the month and we will still have two weeks left in this month. I think we have enough though. And considering we have had two nights out, bought a bed & headboard (ahem, don't think I mentioned that, but I got a good deal and it's pretty- very boho too, will fit right in in my house).
RIght anyway best go prep that dinner before I get so hungry and tired I give in and order take out.

haha no I wouldn't blame you. Yours was well deserved and only you to buy for! I would totally do it then! But four adults.......ugh looking at £50-60 - I think it may have been someone at work today who pulled out their 'leftover' dinner from yesterday and it was takeout and after they reheated it *drool* I wanted one! I am wondering how I can order one for just DP & myself without the kids knowing, perhaps I could offer them pizza instead from the freezer
Think they will go for it?
