Good luck on your interview and well done on your Course completions

always so annoying I find to drain my YNAB pots but always glad I had filled them up to be drained .. especially in the first few months when annual DDs come out - I am coming up to month 11 now on YNAB and have really managed to get thru some lean months with my pots

No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff.    Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks for all the positive energy!! It is done! (SOooo glad I chose an early slot)....

I will find out tomorrow. I think it went okay. Not great (I always get brain freeze in interview situations especially with lots interviewing me) but okay is good enough. I made sure to ask lots of questions myself so it ran over  I feel better about this place than the last place so some fears are alleviated. 2 out of 3 were really friendly and nice and 1 sat with a stony expression which kept making me nervous every time she spoke. I think DBS checks need to be done, references called in- I basically told the truth on the reference for the job I just left, it wasn't for me. I was able to use my friend as a reference and she's in a profession aligned with the job too so honestly, it is probably more relevant anyway. We shall see. I think if it is meant to be it will be, so I can release all thoughts and stress about it now

I am just looking at other courses I have online - I have 4 more paid for and never finished. It is my mission to do these now. That one I just finished I paid for 5 years ago and last looked at 3 years ago and even then I only did one lesson out of 50+!! So that is one down.... The other 4 were paid for around a similar time- 2019/2020 and some I haven't even opened. I do recall getting a discounted price for buying so many so I think that is why I have them all sat there but how wasteful...so that is my mission, to finish them all (or at least start and see if they're for me).

I am making good progress on my cross stitch and really enjoying it  it is my daily mindful activity.

I need to go food shopping today as DP has the car pretty much all week I think. He doesn't really know how his week will be structured too much yet as it's a new role and he doesn't necessarily need training more introductions than anything. So I want to get all jobs that require a car out the way today- shopping, library trip and dropping some bits to CS. He starts tomorrow.

Full confession time here: we bought a rug off FB for £100. I know, I know, but hear me out. It is brand new (someone didn't like it after a week- it still smells new) and is from d^nelm...we were looking at one JUST like it for £400! So we effectively saved £300 because it was on my list of things to buy....okay you can tell me off now for spending money I didn't really have  (I robbed another pot).

  • Lol, at least you confess.  I am contemplating just binning the dining room rug as it was elderly dog accidented a few times, and replacing like for like at £129.  I should try washing it properly first.

We washed our one after FLD also had a doggy accident on it and it didn't come up right it all wrinkled (even though the label had said washable on 30)
It's a much bigger rug than we had and very colourful. 😁 We just cleaned the dining room floor and put it down and I think I've ticked the boxes for every colour in that room now 😂 definitely not everyone's cup of tea but it looks good to us.

We've just spent £135 in Lid1. Only £10 over budget which is fine as we bought loo rolls in bulk and also another cupboard organiser from the middle aisle. Take those couple of bits out and it was on budget.

We've got a builder having a look around the house as I type. DP is doing the honours of walking him through what we have in mind. We'd like some figures in mind and a plan of action of what needs doing first .... we're getting in a bit of muddle trying to figure out what to do first. 😁 I will report back with costs....

Fingers crossed for a good outcome from the interview and I like the maths on that FB rug 👍

Good luck getting a quote from the builder - ours just keeps going up 🤣🤣 but at least he's invoicing us at each stage so we can spread the cost out a bit more.

  • Well the good news is we don't need a full rewire he's checked a lot of what was worrying us and some bits just need completely taking out (Diy jobs mostly) and the rest is fine. Phew 😌. The fuse box is newish too so all good.
Need to buy some LED bulbs because the ones we have are a fire hazard next to papered ceilings. So will try and get them ASAP.
But it means DP can do the basic repair work and it saves us thousands (he's done up to level two electrical course just can't sign it off). We will make a list now on which rooms can be done first (probably ones with least amount of work) and start saving 🙌🏻👏🏻
