Safestyle problem

I've tried again asking the simple question. How much will it cost me to buy the warrenty insurance that safestyle was supposed to give me? I hope for an answer this time.0

You can't force them to sell you insurance.
That firm is not interested but insurance is a competitive business so there are probably others who will quote. You could try posting on the insurance board?1 -
The answer may not be that simple. SafeStyle may have had a deal that allowed them to offer these guarantees to everyone and they just pay an overall fee for the whole company (ie it’s an overhead cost not an installation cost). I think this is more likely than them buying one for insurance packet at a time. In addition, if they would sell you the insurance for £200/window or door, that doesn’t mean that’s what you can claw back as that is what they’d charge you not what they charged SafeStyle or what SafeStyle charged you.I don’t think they’ve got to give you any information (and they may not be able to - a lot of B2B contracts have NDA’s in especially for exclusive pricing). They have no contract with you, and they won’t comment on other peoples business. If you’re looking for a claim for SCC - then you could look at how much it would cost you to insure the windows yourself and potentially claim that back via SCC; but given the company has gone bust, I don’t think there’s much chance of getting more than pennies for the pound.0

Ok finally have an answer.
The policy is only available for installers to purchase for customers and unfortunately, we don’t offer the policy for purchase for customers directly.I’m sorry we cant assist any further with this.
So I'm left scratching my head and chasing my tail still.0 -
I don't think that policy works in the way you think it does.
Safestyle did not pay for a policy which would pick up the tab for repairs while Safestyle was still trading, as you seem to think. Safestyle themselves were expected to carry out those repairs as long as they were still trading.
The policy was to pick up the tab only in the (then unlikely) event that Safestyle was to stop trading. This was a much smaller risk so of course a much smaller cost.
The actual wording on Safestyle's web page, as I am sure you have read and are aware, is
An insurance-backed guarantee on all windows and doors covering the cost of partial or complete repair, rebuilding or rectification, in line with our own 10 year guarantee is provided to you (up to the value of £50,000 or the original cost of the installation, whichever is the lesser regardless of the number of claims), in the event that we cease trading. This policy is administered by Home Improvement Protection....

That event has now occurred which is why they do not offer that policy any more.1 -
Well after some digging around it seems like safestyle broke the contract with us.
We have been in touch with the company we got the finance from as they are as responsible for the problem as safestyle was.
Just waiting for a reply from them.0 -
We have contacted the loan company. We have complained...let the games begin.0

So good news. Not exactly the result I wanted but still an agreeable one.
The loan company have agreed to reimburse us for any work carried out on the windows and doors over the garentee time period.
