Yes, agree with @Cheery_Daff that they are an easy book/CD/film buying business to use. Some valuations are pretty small & some titles they don't want at all, so it helps to have a big stack of items to trade. My highest payment was £7 or £8 for an art book, if I remember rightly & I've also done well with music scores, craft & history/architecture books. They have always paid me on time & on the only occasion I had to raise a complaint, they dealt with it & found in my favour very swiftly. I am pretty sure they are a B-Corp too. They have collected boxes from our door in more recent trades, rather than us having to lug them down to the garage supermarket which rhymes with 'bra'. They could be worth a try. When I waa selling a large classical CD collection, I kept the ones they didn't want & ran the barcodes through a couple of months later to find several were accepted. So I did 3rd & 4th time round too & it was nice to think of these items going off to new owners.
Mr F gets offended by very low offers & takes those items to the charity shop cos he likes to.kick against the system, lol.

Cheery_Daff said:I've used ziffit - it was pretty easy. You download the app, then scan the bar codes of the books, select what condition they're in (I think) and it tells you instantly how much they'll pay. Then you parcel them up - and I think they actually arranged for someone to collect from our porch!
I agree about handing in your notice - YOU tell them when you're leaving, and then on that day, just leave. What are they going to do if you don't go in the next day - sack you?? (I know you are an upstanding citizen and don't want to leave anyone in the lurch, but you also can't leave yourself in the lurch!)
(Also, what does being left in the lurch mean, anyone know without looking it up??) 😁😂
From the Middle French board game of lourche (“lurch”). Players suffered a lurch if they were left in a hopeless position which rendered victory impossible.
No I'm not a brainbox! I looked it up as I was piqued about the meaning too!🤣🤣🤣Finally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Hello All
Off for a catch up Cheery thanks for the book advice and SSG much appreciated.
I'm coming to terms with the fact that in TAYLOR's words -
Yes, ME, I'M THE PROBLEM ITS ME......
Two shop visits yesterday with GD here for YES unneeded but oh so good snacks.....
Hot chocolate and marshmallows and cream - had two of the ingredients needed so went for milk and squishy cream to keep the wee one delighted (£4.88)
And, banana milkshakes later ..........which required ice-cream - local shop to the rescue again. (£3.49)
Yes, Houston I see what the problem is.
Or maybe its granddaughter whos to blame - he he he.
Nice day overall yesterday with park visits, beach walks and erm lots of drinky snacks for the chaps.
I've started the ZOE study which I paid for ages ago and have just found time/space/courage to start, so Saturday was a test day and a bit of a fast day.. (So the others really indulged, I just facilitated!)
Its expensive and not very MSE but long term I want to maximise the years I havve with the family so although I'm only 55 I really want to see if I can take better care of myself.
Todays giong to involve doing a bit of:
Air dry washing
Learn more about ZOE
Walk locally
More batch cooking, can't survive on milk shakes and hot chocolates for the gang
Loaf of bread to bake whilst the sun is a shining
Check panels app and octopus
Think about organising work stuff for the week ahead for private work.
Waves to all. x

Interesting about the ZOE, @Pippilongstocking, as have recently read Tim Spector's most recent book.
Agree that 'just popping out' for treats can, over a month or two, turn into quite significant money-leakage.

HIYA
Aye money leakage indeed. Today will be a NSD I have promised myself.
Re Zoe: I've read/listened to most of his stuff (Tim's) OH reckons I'm smittenbut I do like his common sense approach to food and he says when he's fooked up and got things wrong too which is reassuring. I had a bit extra (extra) work last year so its paid for the programme, we'll see what it helps me to find out, I'm obsessed with food but since life changes (menopause) my diet has changed as I'm now craving sweet stuff which I've never done before so I'm mindful that I need to keep an eye on that as I've always been a savoury girl.
I'm only 24 hours into it all so happy to share anything I find out if anyone is interested. Worst part so far - the muffins, they were rank and the fingerprick test for bloods.
Some chores done, even got outside for an hour and did a bit of tidy up of leaves as the brown bin goes out tomorrow so I like to make use of my council tax privileges.
Lunch was some xmas leftover salmon and scrambled eggs on HM bread. So stores
Invoices drafted and a few messages ready to go for private clients.
Must send a message to new employer to confirm start date.
Fires on so I'm kinda cosy and just catching up on diaries.6 -
@pippilongstocking123 be interesting to hear how you get on with Zoe
Never heard of it so did their wee quiz
Reckoned I could improve my gut health, increase energy and lose weight in a month after testing
I weigh 8 stone which is a loss this year on my usual 8 and a half (from about age 40 to 63)
Probably lost due to a mixture of OH having cancer and also food restrictions due to dental implant surgery
No thanks, I need to put on weight not lose it!!
Nice to see you back3 -
I'll be interested in hearing how you get on with Zoe, I've considered it in the past."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3

One of my friends has done the Zoe thing and swears by it. Clearly has worked for them. I suspect I would just carry on regardless. I know I can't eat white bread.Ooh crisp butty on warburtons danish with lots of butter...My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Yes - bread will indeed spike blood sugar as it’s carbs of course. The spike from white bread will drop off faster than that from wholemeal. Not sure how sourdough fits into the equation but of course it’s fabulous for gut health! Carbs generally too - brain food! (Genuinely - our brains rely on carbs for their fuel, essentially!) The biggest perimenopausal food change I’ve noticed is definitely how I cope with refined carbs now - I used to be able to cheerfully eat white bread all day, but now I find it leaves me quite bloated and uncomfortable if I eat too much of it in a day. Thank goodness though sourdough bread is absolutely fine - what a great excuse to eat sourdough! 😆 I’d prefer to eat more in the way of whole grain rice and pasta but himself isn’t keen so while I sneak them in occasionally, not so often as I’d like.
Oh the money leakiness of snack-attacks, very true! Actually I think the real leakiness is just going into a shop without a list, for me - that’s when all the temptations kick in!
