Happy birthday week watty. If your painter hasn't finished yet definitely wait till she is, as she may have a plan for sorting it. Sounds like its been a lovely week

Glad you had a lovely birthday and that things not going to plan turned out to be for the best.
I sympathise on the chaos of having workmen in. It will be worth it when it's done. As you say touching up a few bits is easier than having to do the lot.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I empathise with having more than one bit on the go. The chap at DS's house had to leave the self-levelling compound on the kitchen floor to dry and I feel vindicated because I suggested another job he could have been getting on with, but was not asked as DH was concerned about cost. Now that job is on the never-ending list...Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)

My new diary is here3 -
Chatted with the decorator yesterday and a few things ironed out. Seems she was nervous about removing things and unscrewing plugs etc so the VNM helped her out by removing some panelling she was nervous of touching and so on and she does indeed have a plan for the areas that I had picked up on. She also agreed with me that the main bathroom needed another coat of paint so, again, all good.
Must admit though the level of chaos with no bathroom in actual use and camping in the spare room is huge. I should have planned ahead and moved clothing and so on to make life easier. Still only another week of this chaos upstairs hopefully. I have cancelled my cleaner for next week as I cannot see what she can really do upstairs.
Some positives to report. I rode Most Handsome for the first time this year after all his lameness issues and was astounded at him. I had not planned to ride him but my instructor was coming over to give me and the Charming Cob another lesson ready for showing later in the year but I was concerned he was struggling a bit after all those slips in the mud so I decided not to ride him but let him have a "rest". I hate cancelling her last min as it is a self employed job so I got Most Handsome in from the field and said we would just see what happened and it would be nice to have eyes on the ground when he was ridden after all that time off (plus given he can be silly she is a bit of a security blanket for me). We were both astounded by the quality of his work, when I asked for everything correctly he flew around as if he should be on a British team. When I was slightly out of balance or asked badly for something he looked like a giraffe and flatly refused to do anything. I did laugh, it was a great lesson for me in being 100% correct, at one point he was trotting beautifully, she was in the middle praising him and all I could do was giggle and say but I'm not actually asking for anything. What a clever pony, clearly of the opinion that if I can't ride perfectly he doesn't have to compensate
And in work news the course I have written has been given CPD approval by two professional bodies, one has offered to promote it and the other has suggested I do a "free 45 min session" and they will feature that as it will be a great promotion for the main course. Meeting with PA later to sort out next steps as I need some slides redrawn and to know how to do the next steps.
the flip side is my mood is still not great but focusing on the positives and writing down achievements really does help switch from the depressed to the positive. That was such a great suggestion on here and one of the reasons I love the forum.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The relentless onward march of @Watty1! World domination, but nicely, no? Happy birthday week xx5

It is a bit of a relentless march. The VNM is repairing some fencing so I have promised wine and a Chinese takeaway this evening. Wine interferes with my sleep somewhat but I have decided that will be fine and is a choice I made so we can share a glass or two and an easy fun meal as a thank you for his hard work. I really appreciate his help
I also wonder if I will ever have an MSE month! This month I have bought fencing posts £350, renewed my forest permit for an annual one (£120) so I can ride there and bought horse bedding (£193.80) Tracking my spending is eye opening, but, will help with future plans.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Loving the idea that MH is critiquing your riding! Cheeky beast!! 😂😂
The decorating will be worth it and I’m glad you and the decorator are more aligned than you thought on required standards 😊
I’m sorry that your mood is a bit flat (not sure if this is the right description?). I suspect a lot of this is related to the intrusion and disrupt of the decorating, but if it continues after that is finished perhaps a trip to the GP might be in order?BTW, just wanted to say Awesome and well done on the training course. That endorsement by not one but two professional bodies is huge! Be proud 😊🤩👏

Huge congratulations on the accreditation.
Great news that MH is doing better - even if he is critiquing your technique!!
Hopefully once the work is done you will feel better. Change can be difficult. I also find extra bodies in the house difficult. I don't know if you are the same. I imagine it will be a relief when you get the house back to yourself and vNMAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I think @savingholmes and @KajiKita you are both right. It is very disruptive having people in the house. I'm pleased with how it is going though. The main builder was back today with a fix for a problem in the shower room and I was impressed with the thought he had put into that. I feel it is going to be OK and it does make sense to do as much as possible all in one go.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
