Watty's Awakening

Just paid the last vet bill for the mites on the charming cob's legs and I see the practice offers a healthy horse scheme which includes worming tests and vaccinations and 10% of bills. Now normally I dismiss such schemes as not worth paying into but I am seriously considering purchasing for all 3 horses and Most Handsome has accumulated many large bills already this year, the Charming Cob bills of just under £100 for his mites whilst the Baby Fell has only accumulated a black mark for biting the vet that called him fat.
I can't help thinking if I pay out this it might end the run of bills - also after the worm tests and the vaccinations are taken into account it will be about £41 per horse and Most Handsome would have easily made that back!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

It sounds a good idea to me. It was cheaper when I had a dog to do their scheme but I didn't do it for the cat as it didn't pay off.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The shower room is done. Yay. I just have to clean up the floor where the old toilet was glued in. So i need a good solvent apparently (says google). Nail varnish remover worked in places but I need a stronger solvent for the rest google informs me. Builder came at lunchtime to finish off the final bits in the shower room. My worries about the work were unfounded. It really is a lovely room now and it is "my room".
Decorator just has to finish the woodwork in bedroom and bathroom and a start has been made on the stairs. I've paid the next stage which made me gulp a little but very slowly the rooms seem more "mine" than they were before.
The bedroom curtains are currently in the washing machine to see if they will dye. If not I will simply replace, I already had two dye pods so this 'experiment' has cost me nothing. I have a hunch they will come out the wrong colour but it is worth a few washing machine cycles to find out. Have seen new bedding on line too. This really is remove all traces of the ex in each room, it just has suddenly happened very quickly. One moment I was focused on rebuilding savings and maybe doing a little bit here and there and suddenly everything is changing.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thank you for that post as you made me think of something that for some reason had not occurred to me. You mentioned dyeing the curtains. Why didn't I think of that. I have curtains in my bathroom which are looking less than good now. I have been looking for replacements & frankly the colours I have seen are awful. Some things are so obvious, well they should be.

Good for you, glad it's going well3

@badmemory The idea of dying is a great one if it works.
My curtains were clearly not a natural fabric and are now slightly more purple than the red they were and the lining is a grubby colourI feel ok about buying new curtains now. I tried to reuse what I had, which fits with my current ethic and it didn't work so that is fine, I will replace with new.
updated the post to say that the curtain shrank but the lining did not so a disaster all around!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Lots of curtains and blinds on FB marketplace (I know, because lots of them are mine, and I looked round to do some research!), so it might be worth a look for something suitable there. Curtain fabric is so expensive.
So good to hear you are making your home your own - it's hard work while you have everyone in the house and have to store all the stuff from the rooms being done out of the way, but well worth it once it is over. I've just done the first phase of mine, and have about 6 weeks to get ready for phase 2.3
