Please feel free to totally ignore this, but you seem to dislike therapy & I was wondering if the word therapy was actually a trigger for you. As in how many times have you been told by a certain someone in your life "you are sick & need therapy" or similar.
I only discovered when my sister asked me to speak to her's that it was a problem for me. Doing it for her actually got me over it & the need for it (well mostly anyway).

Re the sleeping tablets Watty, could you take ine now and then when it's really bad? I used to do that when I just needed a night or two of reasonable sleep (I have a personal deep dislike of addictive meds being taken regularly by me (but genuinely don't judge what others need to do) as my dad was an addict to drink and drugs and I've read far too much about genes and addictive behaviours)

when I couldn’t sleep but didn’t want to take sleeping pills, I took OTC sleeping aids. There’s a non-herbal one and a herbal one. I started with the former, then moved to the latter when I ran out. And then realised I no longer needed them as I’d got into a good routine. Now I struggle to stay awake after I go to bed and mostly sleep ok (if I wake up in the night I either annoy the cats or read and try not to get stressed about it as that definitely makes it worse.

Thank you for the recommendation of the Dr Stuart teas Suffolk Lass. I will try those.
I'm not particularly bothered by the sleep issue, it is not as if I go out anywhere much and I can go to bed early. I think the mental health practitioner made more of it than was necessary but I will get the prescription and try them out and then just keep them for "as needed" I know she said they were not addictive but I am very wary having been addicted to strong painkillers in the past and getting off them was very hard, then one day I emptied the lot into the wood burning stove and wrote to the doctors saying I WAS NOT to be prescribed any more under ANY circumstances and that was it. I felt ill for maybe 3 to 4 weeks after that. (Oddly the doctors never commented on that).
I have thought over the comments on counselling, it is not counselling in itself that is the issue but the mental health practitioner is not qualified to counsel, her role seems to be to check one is not going to self harm
I find the fake concern whilst filling in a tick sheet and the reliance on AI to help irritating. (I also wonder about her tick sheets actually as she had the dates she had seen me incorrect)
Perhaps I am just not a very good patient. I do like the counsellor I am seeing though. And the EMDR appointments might come through soon too.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Sounds like the MH practitioner was doing a risk assessment rather than anything based on listening to you and hearing 'your story'. Sadly, the medical model of 'whats wrong with you?' rather than 'whats happened and how does it affect you?' is still prevalent in the NHS.

Is the above post by any chance from someone with an interest in the company mentioned?
They are doing the same elsewhere so I marked it as spam.
