The hair pieces/wigs sound great !!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

While we wait for Greenbee to tell us she is in charge of secret services, firstly thank you for all your support re the wig. I admit I had a wobble this morning re the blond one, but, deep breath. I am going to do this.
Secondly, and a bit of a drumroll, this morning was the pre-app for planning on the barn. The council officer said they would be happy to support the conversion and extension - but, and there always is a but, he thinks there are too any windows and it no longer looks like a barn! However in principal, happy to support. It will have to go to a planning committee meeting as cannot be done by officers as is a departure from usual planning, but, they accept that there is no real reason to turn down, given they accept the commercial development of it is not viable, it cannot be a holiday let given the plans for the area, and they really can't turn the conversion down given they are accepting the area is sustainable and are going to build 5000 new houses.
His advice was I wait for his written direction and then get a professional to fill in the forms for the formal application. One step at a time dear friends, but, this is another step towards my financial resilience and freedom.
Am really not quite sure how I feel. This is a bit of a surprise. The barn is no longer empty, it has become a very lovely workshop that the VNM is happy with. Over a coffee this morning we chatted and I stuck to my one step process. This was just another step. Thinking about the workshop and "his space" is down the road. Next is written advice and a professional filling in the form. I do not know what the final outcome will be. A lot of me wants to build the lovely place, another part of me wants to move out of area, a big part of me wants to give up work and so on.
So, no point in jumping ahead. This step was seeing if council will support the development and they will. Phew!Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Even if you never develop the barn it can be sold with the information which might make no difference whatsoever to the buyers but might make it more desirable to some. All in all, a great step and only happening because you went in with your facts properly laid out and calmly talked it through with them. Great stuff

Other options are build and live in it and sell the house - i would have a chunk of savings and my design is very simple, neat, modern, easy to heat etc but that leaves me with nowhere to ride that fills my heart and that is an important thing for me.
Another option is to build and rent it out (this means I can sell when the overage agreement on the land expires)
I really don't know. This was one of my "ifs and maybes" when I started how to rebuild my life and finances. It seemed a dream rather than a possibility but when I started this rebuild I had a few ifs and maybes. It still is on the ifs and maybes list but it seems it might become very real.
