Been really quiet as came down with a horrible cold but today was THE HAIR DAY so I was determined to be well enough to go to look at hair options. What a salon. Run by a lovely women. No pressure at all, just a chance to explore what I could do. I settled on a part wig that clips into my own hair and will go back in a couple of weeks to have it cut and styled for me. It was the third one that I tried on, was a perfect match to my own hair and just looked like me but with more hair. Synthetic and just £200 to feel and look like me again.
So decision made.
Then we had a chat about different options and I tried on a couple of others. My hair has been falling out for so long I never really got to have fun and do the whole colour thing and she showed me a blondish part wig with very pale pink streaks going through it. This one can actually be styled to into curls if I want. I tried it on and stood up and got a fit of the giggles. It was like my personality came back. The fun, quirky woman that got lost in the PPH years. This one will be very obvious I am wearing additional hair and the salon suggested I just think about it. I did - but - I am so buying that one too. It can be cut and styled at the same time as the perfect match.
The advice was to buy the first and get used to wearing it then go back for other options when I've got used to it but every time I think about me in the second one, I smile, so. I'm going to have both.
This was one of the fun parts of my goals for the year. To feel l like "me" healthy, joyful, confident. The stylist cannot fit me in for a couple of weeks but I am excited to go back. (I have not been excited about a hairdresser trip in years)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

This is a fabulous post watty really made me smile.
I must sort out a haircut, haven't had a cut and colour since december, and I didn't like the colour then, so I've put up with it for long enough! the price puts my off, but also that I dont have a good go to hairdresser. So pleased you found somewhere that are so friendly and helpful.4 -

Love the sound of the wigs!
I take a biotin supplement every day and have done for years for strong nails and hair. It works because if I ever run out of forget to take it for a while it shows in my hair and nails.

The two you've chosen sound perfect - I think you should christen each separately by going out for a meal so the VNM can get used to seeing the real you across the table (and you get used to wearing them in public).I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

How fabulous Watty! TBH if you're going to wear wigs you might as well have fun with them. I have a brightly coloured synthetic wig that I used for work for a couple of years (too complicated to explain) and had cut and styled. I got used to wearing it for long periods - and my colleagues got used to going out to dinner with me wearing it as once it was on my own hair needed a good wash before I let it out! The next time I was asked to change my hair colour for work, my hairdresser actually managed to match my hair to the correct colour - it was less hassle for both of us than another wig.... but there are hotel bathrooms all over the planet that probably still bear the scars
