We have a butcher in our town who I used to use but don't anymore as they wouldn't stop throwing their fag butts into the drain out the back of the shop, even though I very politely asked them to stop (when the shop was empty, so didn't embarrass anyone). They claimed it was someone else doing it, even though I spotted the bloke I asked doing exactly that a couple of weeks later. I do hate litterers.Make £2025 in 2025

Yes, chat to people in this village who use butchers instead of SM and it's a bit like asking a beekeeper a question - ask two, get three different answers!
If I buy SM meat it is only from Morries or Waitflower as both came through the horse-meat scandal untarnished, with full traceability of all their meat and OB meat products - because they had their own or a close high welfare network of farms. Minimising the animals' stress. I do sometimes. I also use my preferred local butchers - I like the diligence with which the bones are chopped so you don't get splinters in one, the provenance of the poultry in another (currently a notice up saying that bird flue is limiting their free ranging birds) and of course the high welfare standards they adhere to.
Re your head torch, we still have one with a bright twin bulb on an elastic strap where you slide the tightener along and catch your hair (always, for me), but my gardener has one with an led strip as well as a little intense bulb - and it is rechargeable. The world moves on when I'm not in need to buying things! His is like this oneSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far
I also Reverse Meal Plan on that thread and grow much of our own premium price fruit and veg, joining in on the Grow your own thread

Oh, that is quite nice and cheap. If the head torch doesn't come to light I might order that, thanks @Suffolk_lass
In the clear up I did find my 'running light' which is a light that one wears on the chest as I never liked running with a head torch. It is rechargeable and will do in the meantime.
Spent a hilarious 45 mins yesterday trying to teach Most Handsome to do a simple exercise that is required for his first competition. He failed to understand it entirely. All I wanted him to do was walk sideways along a pole. CC can manage this with ease. MH has to stand with front legs in front of pole and back legs behind and the pole under his body. Then he walks sideways crossing his front and hind legs. Well that is the idea. The instructor i had asked for help was doubled over in laughter as he simply could not grasp what was being asked. How I miss CC and his ability to listen to instruction and then try something. MH seems to listen, not get it and then ignore me and do his own (incorrect) thing then have a strop. Finally the instructor suggested I spend this week trying to teach him from the ground.
Today CC went for his first anti inflammatory injection to see if it helps. I am so hoping it does. I know he can't go back to competitions but it would be lovely if it helps him pain wise. He also had the chiropractor yesterday to see if that helps his neck. CC was such a good boy and the vet nurse gave him a lick treat thing that he adored. I said he was good for injections but sensibly she produced a treat pot and I think CC would have stayed there for that treat pot.
Now back at work, lots to do, simple dinner planned. Ran out of time to put anything in the slow cooker but at the weekend I bought a pie in the butchers which they made on site with pastry from local bakery so we will have that. The VNM really looking forward to the pie! (I need to pop out and get some veggies to go with it).

Your descriptions are as good as a video.
Would CC one day be able to walk through the exercise with you on the ground, but in sight of MH? Not if it might cause discomfort, of course.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Those funny neddies.
Maybe MH needs some time to absorb it then revisit later?
Though seeing Babydog in action he is definitely less bright than both Puppylove and DaughterofSatan.5 -
I imagined something in the nature of an equine Blondin eek 😬 😆 🤣 then I read on and realised they don't walk along the pole itself 😆 😄

DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.
