Drooling over all the very mse (autocorrected to miserable 😉🤣) links of expensive castles and beautiful retreats 🤩 I would looooove to live in the middle of nowhere right now for some peace And quiet. The scenery on all of those are beautiful 😌!

That is stunning @Greent.   You will all need to come and stay in rotation to help find glasses, scissors and car keys on a regular basis

Oh that's lovely greent. I'm especially intrigued by the 4 huge mill wheels or grinding wheels half buried in pic 4 and the 2 little bits of floofy 80s/90s style curtains halfway up the wall in the red dining room (pic 9) 🤔

A neighbour had a fireworks party - all the locals with children went along.  VNM very angry as he felt all neighbours should tell the hosts fireworks parties unacceptable in an area with horses.  Only heard about it because one of the lovely children next door was sent with his grandmother to warn me (granny gave me a bottle of wine).  Was able to warn two neighbours who have horses.

The fireworks were really loud - and - was from the same house as last year - the one I went to the day after to find out if it was them to explain my horses were terrified - and they denied having the things.  

Even more resolved to move out of area now.  This time of year is too stressful what with next door and then "them up road" 

On bright side I rode Most Handsome, took him for a 20 min hack.   The coaching session really helped.  We met a number of things that were terrifying to him, a fallen tree, a triffid (large plant) and a deflated balloon along with a motorcycle and the bike rider proved the point that bikers are lovely.  Seeing that Most Handsome was clearly very worried, he stopped, seeing that was not enough he turned off his engine and then put his visor up to say hello calmly. I am trying to remember that the bulk of the world is made up of bike rider types not the woman who roared past in her car far too close. I saw her car turn into a house - and - you guessed - she was party host. 

VNM checked price of Wales property and asked if we could make it work, there being no nearby houses!

Thankfully there wasn't anything here last night, but there was a fair amount the night before which is unusual as most people don't due to the number of horses (and dogs, sheep etc) in the village. So I guess it's someone new. Nothing on the village FB group unlike on the 5th when someone posted what they were doing and when so that people knew - and it was short and pretty quiet.

We have been so grateful since we moved here that the fireworks are only in the distance. Chloe was still a bit anxious last night with some of the bigger booms! but was easily distracted with a head stroke. Where we lived before, in one of the local market towns, was almost like being in a battlefield and one year it went on for two full weeks 😳 and then we had it a few weeks later at new year as well … 😢
Round here however, there are some seriously scary women who have horses and there’s a well known tale of the field of young bullocks that got spooked by nearby fireworks, jumped the fence and ran all over the area …!

I think the curtains cover where pictures were and possibly the wallpaper was unfaded behind? It hasn't been decorated in some of the rooms for a long time, but where they have recently decorated it has been done sympathetically. The pictures are (from memory) mainly family members - it's been in the same family for almost 200 years. I know the owner and they're selling due to huge death duties to pay after their dad died. Parts of it are like being in a NT property!

Apparently, back in the late 80s/ early 90s, the roof needed doing quite badly - there were 2 chairs that were sat in the entrance hall and which people threw coats and bags on..  the chairs turned out to be Louis 15th(?)😱 and the sale of them financed the roof replacement.... 🤣

It also comes with its own moorings on the River Severn at the bottom of the hill 😁

I wonder what will become of these beautiful old properties as time marches on.  I love that it was described as "surplus to requirements"   I suppose there are people who can afford them and to run them, but I suspect many of them will just be turned into apartments as the only way to save them.

Managed to ride one horse, and to do presentation.  Went to a local Christmas Fair at the gorgeous community cafe with girlfriends but bought nothing.  Too much clutter for me and if I am buying gifts this year they will be simple ones like food or seeds or something along that lines.  (Did buy a cake though, so broke my sugar free experiment, but, it has really  helped so I will back to it tomorrow).
