I remember those wind-up toy TVs! I think the grand children would enjoy one. I remember our oldest being really interested in his Dad's wind-up gramophone. We think smart phones are attractive to children because of the sophistication, but perhaps they are basically interested in things that move and make sounds?

I'm quite pleased with what I got done today: a morning jog, which completes week 2 of C25K, then some overdue housework and a visit from my friend from my old job. After that, work.

However, I think I'm starting with a cold.

DH now has the L1dl app and a £5 off £30 spend, which he did this evening, with a very neat finishing total of £29.93. I spent £6.14 on some reusable freezer bags. I didn't even know there were such things when I woke up this morning but there were some on V1nted. I did a bit of research and new ones aren't cheap so I've gone with the ones I saw first.

I had three hours of work this evening. Now I really need some sleep!

Well done on week 2 of C25K - very impressed! I've been continuing on with my physio exercises though not quite up to two circuits yet.

Do let us know how you get along with those reuseablreuseable freezer bags. I tend to use z1ploc bags that I wash and reuse, with the last use for raw meat after which I get rid of them. I do love a bit of flat pack storage for ingredients, though cooked meals go into glass dishes with lids.

I tend to think they're attracted to smartphones because they're shiny and simply controlled? After all a small human can make them do stuff just by moving fingers.

I use these reusable freezer bags @Cherryfudge as recommended by The Batch Lady. The pack comes with the stand, labels and a pen. They wash really well. They don’t take up much space in the freezer when batch cooking.

@rtandon27 and @Sun_Addict , thanks for the interest, the ones I've ordered are silicon and I'll be interested to see how they perform. At present I wash freezer bags (whatever sort I have in) and if I think they are clean enough, I reuse them. I tend to double bag raw meat as I have thoughts of a single layer of bag leaking… SA, that bag stand os a good idea. Mine tend to dry on the washing line or over a bottle, depending on circumstances.

@WelshmansDaughter, isn't it amazing how quickly a small child can get some sort of result from a phone! I do hope none of my photos has been deleted, but it's hard to be sure!

I woke a bit early and put a load into the washing machine on cheap rate electricity. By the time it switched to expensive rate, I had one complete load and two lots of handwashing finished, and a hot wash had started in time for the water heating to go on cheap rate. I'm pleased with that. I also started DH's phone charging and boiled the kettle: enough for a hot water for me, two kettles to pour on the greenery that's starting to sprout between the paving bricks, a water bottle for hot water drinks later and finally tea and coffee for breakfast.

Talking of greenery sprouting, the grass is green again! We have lawns, or something approximating them.

My cold isn't too bad, but I'm tired with it. We went to the car boot sale and all I bought was silicone cake cases, then after lunch (fish and cous cous with peas and sweetcorn), I slept for a couple of hours. DH has been quite industrious, including sanding down the filler on the garden bench. It came on to rain before he'd finished - a second showery day - but by then I was up and we got the washing in.

I've listed some shoes on V1nted but ran out of oomph to add anything else. There's a pair of boots I bought cheaply off there the other day which are unfortunately a bit tight so I will relist them but first I've literally scrubbed them as they needed it. I don't believe they'd ever been polished, despite being leather, and the feedback I left for the vendor included a comment that they arrived dirty. They aren't the same colour as any of our shoe polish so I'm wondering how best to clean them once they are dry. It's not worth buying the right colour polish if I'll never use it again but I have a clear polish or saddle soap.

I've gone through my V1nted listings a reduced a lot of prices as there were things that were clearly liked but too expensive. I really need the space, if only so I can fill up that corner of the spare room with other bits to sell.

I would use a clear polish. Saddle soap is useful if no clear polish. And if neither in the cupboard a quick spray of a furniture polish works. Furniture polish is not ideal for leather but it will improve the shoes enough to look great in the photos and on arrival and then the new owner can buy the right colour polish for them. (I've used furniture polish to improve boots when in a hurry to go out!)
