Am a firm thermal vest fan. I seem to be in a thermal vest of some type unless there is a heatwave😀
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
*Heads of to search for thermal vests, despite having just spent £4.04 on a cardigan.
I don't think I got much done from my good intentions of this morning. A load of washing, no ironing, a bit of a faff trying to get the printer to work for some paperwork…
Having defrosted the freezer cabinet the other day, I've pulled out the top drawer and cleaned it all out. A few bits have been thrown out as ancient and partially defrosted because I forgot about them. More constructively, a bag of chopped up ends of bread has been made into bread pudding. Dinner tonight was salmon in sauce followed by that. I did an Ol1o/Ice1and shop and got half price eggs, broccoli and frozen peas with sweetcorn (£1.33 in total), went on to Mr T where I met DH and we bought groceries, then on to L1dl for the things I thought would be cheaper there. A further 26.13 on food and £5 on toiletries.
Hopefully tomorrow will be more productive.
In good news, Aberdeen had sunshine after three weeks without. In family news, DS2 sent us what he said was a picture of his hand with a work injury (deep gash). DD sussed that it was fake, but not before DH and I had both advised him to get it treated. I got my own back by posting a picture of his student days when he sent a photo of his arm in a cast. That was fake, too - but at least I got to point out he already has form for these things.

Sadly the sun didn't get the memo and brought frost and low temperatures with it 🤣

@cheeryfudge - it's not just vests in that line of gear, but leggings, shorts and long-sleeve tops - think a super thin version of ski-gear - I often wear them under lighterweight dresses in the autumn as it's usually a chilly commute but the ofice is unpredictable and sometimes so warm that I need to take off the thermals! Other days it is so cold in the office that I have a multi-purpose superthin pashmina to wrap over my shoulders in addition to having the base layer under my cloths.

DS has just come back from 3 nights in Lisbon. It was non stop heavy rain the whole time he was there. Did take winter clothing but still came back with a cold. Not just the UK experiencing unusual amounts of rain. Hope you have better weather when you go Cherryfudge.

Hi @amber03 , that's worth knowing! I'm hoping things will have eased, rain-wise, by the time we go, and we are going to be nearer Faro, so I have hopes it won't be wall-to-wall rain, but who knows? At least it's stopped here for now - we even had some sun!

I spent a good part of today getting very little done, which I'm not happy about but I've no one to blame but myself. I did make a start on the ironing. Lunch was the rest of the soup and a piece of spiced bread pudding. Eventually I got my act together and went to do my stint of church cleaning, followed by three hours of paid cleaning and a visit to a couple of supermarkets on the way home. In the first I got a bunch of delicious grapes for 48p, and in the second I spent £14.05 on various bits and pieces including fish for tomorrow, some Indian foods as there was a promotion on and they had some spices that I use often, and chocolate for DH on Valentine's day. I've also got him a card, so that' £6.99 on gifts and 12.04 on groceries.
Supper was one of the smoked haddock fishcakes from the freezer, with salad leaves that I'd just bought then the last of the pudding.
The person I bought the V1nted cardigan from has contacted me to say she will refund as she can't find it, so that's £4.04 coming back to me and I'm on the lookout for something similar. It's not an absolute need.
It's been mostly dry today, as in there was definite non-raining time and around lunch, the sun came out for quite a few minutes. This evening, walking back in the customary slight drizzle that I don't really notice anymore, I saw something falling in the rain, then another something. Tiny, but part of a pattern. Snow.
It's not settled yet, we'll see how it looks in the morning.

M&* have 20% off thermals on my app this morning - might be worth checking before buying if you have the spark* app 😊

I do have it thanks @Dakota_Rose ! However, looking ahead to the holiday dates, it may well be too warm and dry for them! I will still take layers, but I have enough.
What a nice surprise this morning - although I knew sunshine was forecast, the reality of it is clear blue skies and a frost that's now dripping in the sun. I had expected the sun to be breaking through cloud, but this is another level.
We were supposed to be babysitting while J and L went out for breakfast for Valentine's day, but J and baby A have both gone down with something so it's postponed and we have an unexpected morning to ourselves. We've been getting things ready for the holiday and DH has gone to get cash and ask the travel agent a few questions. I think I need to brave the loft and bring down some lighter clothes as well as jeans and jumpers!
