Well, the last action taken on the non-existent debt in my late sister's account would have been six years after she died- that was when they went so far as to credit-blacklist my niece despite the multiple proofs of full payment...WelshmansDaughter said:Surely four years would mean they are not allowed to send a bill? Honestly though a bill for a penny? Madness2025 remaining: 37 coupons from 66:

have I mentioned the insurance company that tried to do my 87-year-old dad for fraud, claiming he was someone else because he is called by his middle name?! They happily took premiums for all the years from 1979 til now, and his very first claim, when the roof was badly damaged in January, they refused to pay til August...!They used to advertise that they "wouldn't make a drama out of a crisis" but we disagree...

Those are both so alarming @Laura_Elsewhere. Surely your niece must have some sort of legal case for defamation? At least we are warned off said companies now.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

A weird sort of day, health-wise. I was muzzy and slightly achy from getting up till after lunch. Just want a coffee, and I suppose that helped! So did scampi for lunch: haven't had it in ages.
I went back to bed and managed to sleep off most of the aches in the afternoon. I don't feel I was sickening for anything, but it certainly wasn't the run I had planned. It rained hard and cold for much of the afternoon, so I wouldn't have gone anyway.
The rain stopped about five and DH went for a walk but he had woken up with a twinging back and this evening it's developed into real pain. He can't take much in the way of painkillers and paracetamol isn't doing much for the pain. He's hoping he's okay for work and for the meal in the evening (DS2's birthday).
On a positive note or two, I've published the rota for my team right through to April, and several of them have said 'thanks', so I'm hoping it's useful. It's easier to do it while I have the pick of dates and don't have to work around other teams' choices, and it helps people plan - though there are usually changes as people get asked to work or book holidays or something.
The other positive is that looking at bank accounts yesterday made me realise we have more money than I'd realised. Yes, a nice problem to have! Somehow numbers don't mean a lot to me when I read them, but today I've gone through one savings account and worked out what is in there from when, so on that one, at least, we know exactly where we stand. Lessons learned are:- putting in a lump sum makes the biggest difference
- creaming off what's left in current and putting it in savings really makes a difference
- decent interest rates really help, but not as much as good saving habits.
I am working on persuading DH to skim off his extra income into savings again now that we know where 'his' account stands. Mine will be more complicated and I'm not looking at it tonight.

Thank you. I felt better after yesterday afternoon's snooze and am fine today. DH took co-codamol and managed to get to sleep, and woke up feeling more mobile, so he's gone to work. A bit of a rough week for him as this came on top of having to do preparation for routine medical tests mid-week, which in turn is part of monitoring his condition. He's finding the Rooibos tea is really helpful and I suspect that's also good in that it will keep him hydrated (I'm struggling to keep up enough fluids for myself now that I've cut down on coffee, but this morning I treated myself to a large mug of a Christmas coffee that's been lurking in the cupboard).ladybird1106 said:Hope you’re both feeling better soon.

I admit it's not a regular habit, though there have been times when it was. That's something I'm working towards.
Today there's laundry in the machine as I type, but it will have to go on the airer as it's too rainy for drying outside. The first load is there already but I discovered the lounge throws need a wash too.
Here's the plan for the week:
Monday: DS2's birthday dinner, so no work but at least we will see family. DD has sorted out a gift from all of us and we've paid our share. I've written the card so all I have to do is decide what to wear and wash my hair.
Tuesday: Childcare.
Wednesday - DH's medical. I need to stay in during the evening to keep an eye on him.
Thursday - afternoon - work. Evening - work.
Friday - (Black Friday). Pm - mentoring session. Evening - work.
Saturday - nothing scheduled.
Sunday - pre-schoolers session at church.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

It's one of those day where long, heavy showers are interspersed with bright sun and I get all hopeful and plan to put heavier washing on the line - then by the time I get to the other side of the house (takes seconds), it's gone dark grey and rain is definitely falling, maybe driving down. Two lovely rainbows, so far, to remind us the world is not going to disappear under a deluge, even if the area over the soakaway is once again under water.
I have done my hair and some skin care and I think it's paid off.
Perhaps I don't look much younger, but a little more fresh-faced will do me.
I had some more of the mashed potato for lunch: this time I fried an onion then stirred in the mash and a hefty dollop of smoked hummus: a really good mix, if I say so myself, and uses things that needed to be used.
Well, the dining table needs clearing, and most of the mess is mine so I had better get a move on.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The dining room table is slightly better, but not what you'd call clear. I was quite keen to get down to the next lot of bank statements but somehow (ADHD brain) ended up spending the afternoon cleaning round the bay window. It looks nice now: all sparkly and the fairy lights look as though they've been polished though I think they were the only thing I didn't clean.
DH is much better today though the back is still under par.
We went out to dinner with family for DS's birthday. A really good meal, and DS's partner's parents came too. Thirteen of us. Afterwards we adjourned to A and H's house which is nearby and has more room than ours, for cake and gift opening. DD made the cake: I don't know how she fitted it in with a very active baby. D was delighted with his gifts and I think he's had a good day.
I've gone through some more of the savings accounts (we seem to have rather a lot, chasing good interest rates when we had money to put away and not closing the ones that fall out of favour). The complicated ones still need to be tackled.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
