Another here with slopping ceilings, drives me mad.Love 🐞

I just need to be a couple of inches taller, @ladybird1106! Or perhaps a foot taller.
Anyway, I've done what I can of the upstairs ceilings and window frames and, amazingly, there is now a cloudless blue sky and the washing is on the line! I did tumble it for an hour but line drying is nicer IMO and the air is beautiful today - so long as I stay warm. It was just so nice to throw open a couple of windows to air the rooms I was cleaning, and get rid of the smell of cleaning, as well. I will have to go round closing everything down, of course, but first I might do some of the downstairs ones.
The only qualification mentioned on the job description is a level one and I have level two, so, provided I've not forgotten too much, that wouldn't be an issue. I'm still havering, possibly because it's new and would be with people, but if it didn't work out I could still resign!
For lunch, as DH is at work, I made some of the mash into a sort of hash with ham, onion and salad cheese. It worked, and is comfort food and very filling.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

The downstairs windows didn't get done, but a hefty chuck of the application form is filled in and I've asked my cleaning manager to be a referee. It's good as it's for the same employer and the website carries across a pre-filled version of the form, but the difficulty is that I have to fill in every single employment again as the latest needs to go at the top of the list.
It's freezing out tonight: I went home via T3sco, partly to avoid the usual route in case I slipped on ice. Turns out there was ice near T3sco, too, but at least if I'd fallen, there would have been people around to help. I've got cash out for my bus fare tomorrow and am planning the whole adventure with care, although it's just a trip to the next town and helping in a class. I've heard back from the tutor, giving me some more details.
Work was two and a half hours tonight and I've realised I won't be able to do much at all next week. Perhaps Thursday and Friday, as the beginning of the week is booked up.

Job applications are so stressful Cherryfudge! I hate all the form filling. I seem to be able to do it enough to stay in employment though.Credit card 2091

I'm in the fortunate position of having most of the information relatively up to date, @itsthelittlethings, and it's a different role with my current employer, which saves a huge amount of work. However, it all takes some focus to turn it round to suit different needs.
Today was my first teaching day in absolutely ages. I say a day, but it was only the afternoon. It's been so long since I caught a bus but I managed that all right, and it was one of those that goes round the villages. Apart from the tinted glass in the windows, which made everything brown, it was an idyllic journey (as much as bus journeys can be!). The villages are so pretty and in the distance were snowy hills. I was so wrapped in layers that movement was a bit limited, but that's better than being too cold.
When I reached the town I had a quick look in a favoured charity shop there but didn't buy anything, then bought a takeaway coffee which kept my hands warm while I walked to the venue. I was glad I went Gr3gg's not the next door N3ro, as the coffee was roughly half the price! Finding the venue wasn't all that easy but I got directions and was actually the first there. Despite in being zero degrees, I sat on a wall outside to eat lunch while looking at bare birch trees in the sunshine.
The actual class went well: good teacher and a helpful introduction to the person I'm one-to-oneing with. I have a few ideas for next week but the teacher has offered to bring some materials in as well.
DH, who has spent a good chunk of his day off painting the bathroom ceiling, gave me a lift home and by then it was raining, so he also took me to my cleaning job. I had three hours there so it's been almost a normal length of working day. DH also made a delicious 'chicken and...' pie so I ate well. The 'and' was gammon bits from the freezer with some fridge/freezer veg, and it was yummy. Since then I've sent a lot of photos to my sister in law as she always does a family calendar with people's pictures on their birthday months.

Just catching up. Glad the teaching went well. @ladybird1106 if you try running again you could look into having your gait analysed, I had mine done some time ago and then had insoles for my trainers made which helped correct the issue, it wasn't cheap at the time (although I got a discount on the trainers if i bought them only they didn't have any to fit LOL) but it did help me run without injury for a couple of years. Think I might take it up again but maybe next year
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

The application is in! I feel relaxed about it, and we will see of anything comes of it. Yesterday was, co-incidentally, the second anniversary of leaving the long-term job and I feel as if things are continuing to improve, though I came across a photo of someone I used to support the other day which has set off a train of memories. Oddly, the photo showed up through a work email with a different context, I didn't go looking.
The weather has been dry so I washed the door curtain and I'm happy to say it's dried and hanging up again, minus finger prints.
This afternoon I went to do the church cleaning only to find the building was very much in use for an event that didn't appear on the calendar or bookings. I'm afraid I had thing to say to the person who runs the cleaning team, who apologised and said the event had been at rather short notice. It was so busy that I couldn't attempt to do any jobs, so as I had my work uniform with me ready to go straight to paid work, I mooched around town for a while and tried to remember the things on the shopping list. I've therefore got aqueous cream and bird food, resisted a pint glass for DH (stocks are getting very low!) due to having to carrying it, and also a soup flask for me - I'd not use it much and I don't have the space), and ran out of time to buy gold glitter.
Work was three hours. When I got back, DH had looked through my application for me and gone out to a quiz. We finished yesterday's pie for dinner.

I had an letter yesterday... interesting, amusing, irritating. The company that provided power for Mum's old house sent a revised bill. Back in 2021, I paid off the last bill, and the house was sold. I don't think I've heard from them since then, till this letter. It's a 'final revised energy bill', showing the amounts paid back in 2021 and advising me I owe them... 1p.
They say it will be paid by direct debit but I think I cancelled that after the house was sold. I still have the account: it's the one I need to wind up. One payment was made from that recently, a thank you to someone who helped Mum a lot. The rest will be divided between my sister and myself when she gives me bank details and I get organised.
I'm not begrudging the company their 1p, but honestly! It's taken them four years to revise this bill, and how much to process this letter? How will it be collected? The DD has gone (I've checked the account), so do I need to set up a new one? Nothing is showing as pending. The small print says I can pay by cheque (tempting, but a waste of a stamp), direct debit, bank transfer or phone.
Totally ridiculous. I'll have a look at the bank transfer.
I wonder what they would do if I didn't pay, or if I had died, lost mental capacity or gone abroad? How far would people go to chase 1p? And why has it taken four years to find this discrepancy?
And, while it says it's a final bill, how do I know that's the case?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
