Thanks for the lifebook link. That seems a really sensible thing to have. I will over time fill that in for me, it would make it easier for anyone if I lacked capacity for any reason.
I once had an accident and couldn't do much for a few weeks. Living with someone there is a joint shared responsibility but now, although I have a super partner, I am very aware that my life details are known only to me and would be hard for anyone to work out.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -
@Watty, I'm waiting for mine to arrive but was told it goes second class so not expecting it right away.
WRT your copy, I wonder if it would be an idea to have two copies: one with things that might be needed for running the house (though your partner may know all those) and one that you lodge with, say, a solicitor and update every now and then? You could let others know where it is but leave an instruction that it's only to be released in such and such an eventuality?I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

My DS (who lives with me, is my executor, POA & my sole beneficiary) is able to get access to everything. I have most of it in sealed envelopes just so I can truthfully say to a bank that no-one else knows the access codes etc. Let us face it if I didn't totally trust him he would still be the last of those four but he wouldn't be the first 3.It all boils down to who you can trust & on solicitors I am running on a 80% fail rate.4

@badmemory, it does indeed come down to who you trust - and I don't expect the Lifebook has any legal status except as an indication of some wishes, but it would include bank and medical details so I will be interested to see if it has any recommendations for storage.
You have a point about solicitors - someone I knew left their will in percentages which didn't add up to 100%! However, the firm remembered it being made and had the original draft in the archives so were able to sort that out. I think the error was theirs.

Today has been mostly about steaming puddings using the pressure cooker: it's just bleeped to tell me it's depressurising. It's taken me something like eighteen months to steel myself to walk through the instructions, so this is a win. Nothing blown up, scalded or enveloped in steam in the process. Didn't even set a smoke alarm off. (There is family precedent: DH's Nan's pressure cooker blasted a dent in the kitchen ceiling).

Some progress made: after work I called at the supermarket and got quite a few of the outstanding shopping list items as well as my prescription. After DH went for a bath and I had peace and quiet, I did some more of the course but I've decided it's not worth losing sleep over it. I'll have a couple of hours in the morning if I want to try to complete it. I've skipped some written bits but they're optional and I know that if I had to do them, I could. It's just comparing data, but there are no learner comments since pre-pandemic so I wouldn't get feedback anyway.
I finished the Christmas pudding marathon: two pressure-cooked and one slow-cooked.
That's it for now: £20 spent, including a donation of about 70p but mostly groceries and toiletries.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I'm tired tonight and although I haven't finished the course (and don't know if I can), I decided it was essential to go over the early part this morning. This was first done months ago, completely forgotten since and very interesting.
I had another phone call to say the learner I was due to support actually can't complete their course this term, so that work isn't happening. However (when I can get myself back into my work emails which I've somehow locked myself out of), I do have whatever the tutor sent me and that will be very useful to the course in general.
I met DH and the girls in town and walked back to their parents' house (they both fell asleep) and had lunch there. We had a lovely afternoon: DH had to leave for a meeting at four so the girls and I just watched Frozen 2 till their Dad finished work.
My friend was called to work to cover sickness so once again we didn't meet for our Tuesdays! I dozed off during Bake Off but only missed a bit. I'll see how I do with the rest of the course: I might try the final test again this evening after I've had a bath. I took it the other week and didn't get the 70% necessary to pass, but I don't actually need the certificate for anything. It feels weird that my days of work-related learning could be over (though the church is putting me through a course next year, for which I'm grateful). I'm trying not to feel 'oh, it's over' when that was never the plan. However, if I want to do a Futurelearn course and get the certificate, I can pay as a one off and that will certainly be cheaper than the renewal fee: it's gone up from £130 to £250 in a year! (Perhaps next year they'll try to entice me back with a nice big discount?)
We called into the supermarket a couple of times and made chicken and chorizo pasta for dinner, so some expenditure. I've also cancelled my Wednesday voluntary work for the next four weeks as DH is getting something delivered here tomorrow and after that I have my three Wednesdays of looking after F till she goes to nursery.
Expenditure:

Whoopee - completed the course, passed the assessment, got the certificate.
It was one I took because it interests me, not necessarily to prove anything, but it's nice to have it.
