Was it this thread that had the Paul Heaton fans? I heard Quicksand on R2 this morning and it made me laugh: https://youtu.be/usesI-6btR4?si=3WAveCV3aGWzmy8I
Although to be fair, at 22°C this afternoon, Southend did feel like St Tropez

So much to read, so little time.5 -

I went to the St Vincent's shop today as I was getting a tidy up at the chiropodist opposite. I always seem to be in that area! I got a white hoodie, a red and black checked shirt, a denim vest and a new oven glove.2025 GOALS

I’ve been casually on the lookout for a new winter coat, rather fancying a duvet-style padded one preferably with a hood. I was driving past the Helen & Katherine House charity shop on the outskirts of Oxford yesterday, and nearly didn’t bother to stop except I spotted a parking space almost right outside it. Very glad I did visit, as I got a (what appears to be brand new) black Tog24 coat, exactly what I was looking for, £10. Also picked up two children’s books in perfect condition for 50p each - a book of fairy stories for my fairy-obsessed two year old granddaughter, and a book explaining different paint and crayon techniques for my five year old art-obsessed granddaughter.8

Popped into local charity shop with a bag of donations and left with a Phase Eight dress - summer dress, fully lined, looked great on and was only £5 and a phase eight cropped jacket at £3.50 As both were so nice and the lady said they had just been put out I asked if the same person had dropped off anything else and was taken into the store room to look and found a silver sparkle cardigan - not going to be very warm - but as soon as I tried it on it was agreed by the staff and the boyfriend it was "very me" so I picked up that for £3.50 too.
When I got home a quick google revealed that each item was probably around the £100 mark. I didn't need new clothes but these 3 items were too nice to leave behind.
My boyfriend picked up 6 T-shirts that look like new and a shirt that looks fabulous on him. All of that with a candle came to under £30 My bits are in the washing machine now. Really pleased (especially as I had donated a summer dress I felt fat and frumpy in LOL)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!9 -
A new healthy back bag for £10.50 which was £65 in a shop two doors away.
I was going to buy one anyway, so I’m very pleased with this. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.15
