Bedale CB this morning, freezing cold, bought nothing but a couple of plants. But Age Concern in Bedale produced a couple of b/n (summer!) dresses by Ador, (never heard of ‘em), 14.99 each. I’m tall but gonna have to lop at least 6” off each. Then went to Thirsk expecting the CB to be on….wasn’t tho loads of people were turning up. Must have finished for the year.. Did the rounds of the chazza shops instead and in the Herriot Hospice shop I found a pair of Boden navy wide legged trousers on the ‘needs repair’ rail for £5. Just needs a few stitches to hold one of the front pleats in place.(Sorry about the bins & water barrel! 🫢9

After Mum and I had gone through half of my clothes I had 2 suitcases full of clothes for disposal. I invited my sister to take a look through and there were lots of "ooh"s and "this is nice"s - even though she took plenty, it still leaves a lot to donate! I also bought her this down jacket just yesterday, which she is grateful for:

I thought I would see what the charity shops were like in Penzance so I tried this shop. The Oxfam shop was closed for some reason.
I saw on Instagram that waistcoats were a trend this autumn as well as leopard print. I managed to find a leopard print New Look top and a dark blue waistcoat in there.I also got a tan skirt, a black Dorothy Perkins top and a pair of black and white New Look trainers. I am tempted to go back as they had a lot of nice things in there. It came to less than £24 so fairly well priced.

The lady at the charity shop today told me that she wishes people would clear out their children's old toys in the lead up to Christmas rather than after because she always sees a number of parents in the days before Christmas looking for toys for their little ones who might be strapped for cash. She said there's very rarely anything in just before, but that they get inundated with toys in the days after.
And it really made me think about it in a way I never would have before.
If you know your child is going to get lots of presents from father Christmas this year, by clearing out your cupboards a few days early you could make another child's Christmas a lot more special too.

Thank you for posting that @Brie. Very thought-provoking. I came across a Mum with nothing recently and what she really wanted was her little boy to have a bike or toy car. I know he would get such a lot of play value from something like that, and it would help him keep active.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

I went back to the Oxfam shop in Penzance to see if it was open and it was open and it was shutting down that day and everything was £1! Unfortunately I was due to catch a bus for a day trip so I only found 3 items in the 10 minutes I had spare. I got a black and orange Autograph dress, a black Next dress and a black and white t-shirt. Downstairs had lots of books, but I just didn't have enough time.2025 GOALS

I did do a fair bit of sorting out last week, of my own clothes. Far, far too many and most of it good quality, so culling it might be painful. No one really needs 30 outdoor jackets / raincoats though! (That doesn't include work jackets, autumn shawls or winter coats).
It feels like spring was extended this year - summer was slow to get going properly - but autumn has contracted! No man is worth crawling on this earth.
