Think it depends how you define "holiday". Sometimes in the winter it is just nice to be anywhere but home. We went to a lodge in Yorkshire the other year in November. It was heaven...the weather was pretty grim, but the view was no much better than what we have if we'd stayed home. We would get chips and sit by the river in the car, wrap up and go for a walk and then go back and have hot drink and watch a film. Have a soak in the bath with a glass of fizz, read a book. It is just nice to be somewhere else.Making the debt go down and savings go up

@helensbiggestfan the same exact thing happened to me in June. I'd put on a stone and a half since oct! It's funny cos I don't remember feasting like Henry VIII!!
I've since lost 10lbs and far from hating my weight loss I'm loving it!
My advice is:- You can't out walk the fork! Ie you can't exercise off a bad diet
- Protein (meat or fish) and salad for dinner is boring but amazing for results
- Go to bed slightly hungry, not ravenous but a bit of emptiness means burning fat in your sleep!
- Exercise is rocket fuel for weightloss, 10,000 steps a day will supercharge your weightloss
Hope that helps!Mortgage start date Dec 2019 - £217,000 MFD Dec 2034

I would add - don’t watch or listen to the news. It’s depressing. I just have a quick look at the headlines and that’s it. I realised I was worrying about things I had no control over and it was making me very depressed. Less internet and less tv equals a much happier me 🙂5

All the advice here is great, thank you for sharing. This week I've started swapping my morning latte for a very large mug of hot water with a slice of lemon (and just a smidge of sugar). I felt a bit hard done by to start with, but four days in and I'm actually enjoying it. I'm also taking a bottle of water on my walks, so that's another 750 ml and swapped crips yesterday for a cupasoup snack. The only downside is frequent trips to the loo in the night, but I hear that settles down once your body gets use to having more liquid (hopefully)."Think of many things, do one"

Good Morning Lovely Ladies,
Thanks for all the advice, tips and support. You are a lovely lot, 😁.I'm feeling a lot more cheerful and optimistic now. Not true depression as such, I was just languishing in the doldrums for a while.I just need to stay positive and focussed and I'll get there.Yesterday I indulged in a little retail therapy......I have ordered a fine knit sweater dress off eBay. If I'm like it I might order a couple more in different colours. It's definitely time to start thinking about winter wear, autumn seems to be well and truly upon us.I have recently also treated myself to a stainless steel chopping board. After reading about how much plastic we ingest from damaged plastic chopping boards😱😂 I decided to ditch them. Better late than never. Lol.4 -
I agree about the plastic. I have a lovely wooden chopping board.
Definitely time to dig out the winter clothes. I am off shopping on Monday, need some new winter tops & pjs.

Hi fabbers,
popping in again after being MIA for ages. Just caught up on the last few pages of the thread. i hope everyone is making small but positive steps in their fabbing journeys.
@helensbiggestfan im pleased you are feeling more positive. As you know, i’ve been in this thread for years and your first tip has stuck with me all these years…. wear perfume. Never forgot the positive impact you have made on so many of us over the years.
It was my birthday recently and i always have a day to myself with shopping and a nice lunch, which always makes me feel refreshed. I bought myself a few bits and pieces, but decided to pool my birthday money and buy some gold jewellery which i’ve been eyeing up. i think jewellery be the way forward for me for the moment 😂.
take care everyone and hope to see you soon.

Good Morning Lovely Ladies. It's a lovely morning here, bright sunshine, 🌞. Chiro later and a potter in the the garden to enjoy the fine weather. I am aiming to have a bit of an autumn tidy up this week whilst the weather is kind.Chanie. welcome back. Lovely to "see" you. Your birthday treats sound great, especially the jewellery. What did you buy.......
I had a lovely day with my family yesterday. They treated me to brunch in a nice cafe and then we did some shopping in the city centres indoor shopping complex. I hadn't visited it for some time and was pleasantly surprised how much it has improved since its revamp. Finally there are some nice new shops and cafes worth visiting. 😁. I had given up visiting the city centre because the shops were so lacklustre but I might be tempted now. Lol.I much prefer to buy from bricks and mortar shops, I often get disappointed when I shop on line. Last week I bought a dress online, they sent the wrong colour. I will keep it because it's just too much of a faff to send it back. I know it's just a 1st world problem but it's irritating none the less.We have booked a cottage for a trip for next Easter holiday break in the Peak District. Both my DILs are brilliant at finding holiday bargains ......😁 The house looks beautiful and was very reasonably priced. Something nice to look forward to.I was thinking of booking a mid winter cruise by myself but it will so much nicer to have a family holiday. Now aged 4 & 6. The grandchildren are at that nice interesting fun stage. The eldest said the sweetest thing yesterday, I hadn't seen them since their holiday a couple of weeks ago so I asked him if he had had a nice time. He replied "yes, but I missed you".They are still at the age when granny is fun and not just a boring old lady......😂
