I have a pair of turtle doves and they are fabulous although i did notice a few holes had appeared so I need to find some bright green to mend them.
I would add though that about 30 years ago my gran knitted me some fingerless gloves to use when working outside as I was struggling to use my hands with actual gloves and two pairs are still going strong. I'm not sure the turtledoves will last the same way. Gran also knitted me wrist warmers and this year I have, for the first time in many years pulled them out and started using them again and my goodness what a difference they make. I still have a couple of white ones I used to wear at work as they blended in with white shirts and a lot of brightly coloured ones she made from scraps of wool I am really enjoying wearing them as they work but also enjoying the memory too.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!7 -
I also have turtle doves and they're great for commuting when you need your fingers for tickets and debit cards as well“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

I think I need some. I made some from DK yesterday, but my starting chain in one must have been a lot looser as I have one loose and one just right. Might thread a little elastic through both to get them even! Yarn was purchased last year so no couponsMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

I'm seconding MrsCD on the elastic suggestion... when I made my beautiful stranded-colourwork gloves a few years ago, I managed to make one glove about almost a whole inch tighter than the other... (interestingly, the looser one is still going strong, the snug one is just wearing thin and going into holes all over the place, despite having been darned and reinforced several times!).
I used the thin elastic thread they sell for machine-shirring, and threaded four strands at once into a large-eyed needle and fed that through the knuckle-end of each glove, and used a knitting needle to push aside the knitted strands to shove the tiny knot through so it was inside and didn't show on the outside... nobody's ever noticed...
And also, when you give them a wash, you may find they even up a bit. It's amazing what a quick wash does to even out wonky stitching or a corrective-bodge!

I added another round, DC into every other stitch, with an extra chain stitch on the tighter one, much better nowMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.
