I don't find losing weight easy as such but I find keeping it off once I've lost it very tough.
Congrats!5 -

Happy new year everyone!
Starting the year at 162lbs, so more than I wanted. Still, I lost 21lbs last year and want to lose the same amount again.
I do have leftover cheesecake, but will need to see about freezing it so it can be worked into my diet over time.
Like many, I did slip over Christmas, but am ready to buckle down again and get back into the swing of things.
Good luck to everyone with their goals!5 -
General_Grant said:I'll be back in for Q1. I didn't take part for Q4 as had reached a comfortable level (about 21 BMI I think).
However I was keeping check on eating and exercise via my own spreadsheet and had a technical problem during the quarter which meant I've lost track. So that plus Christmas makes me pretty sure I'll need to adjust somewhat. So I'll put a new battery in the bathroom scales and return tomorrow with a target for the quarter.
For free fitness classes - try ourparks.org.uk. They do outdoor, indoor and online sessions. I attend an indoors low impact class, mainly chair based (including using a chair for support if needed when doing some standing exercises).
This is good news and I hope is encouragement to others - if you lose weight over a longer period of time and thereby develop new eating habits (occasional festive occasions permitted without guilt) then you can maintain a sensible weight after achieving your goal.
I'll have 7 lb as my target loss for this quarter. That's partly to ensure I can still wear last year's new clothes!
A friend sent me a Christmas gift including 2 packs of shortbread biscuits and a bag of fudge. The fudge has been demolished and half of the biscuits but the BB date of the biscuits is in the summer so I'm putting those away for now.
I checked my BMI using the NHS calculator and they have changed it slightly - no longer asking your age (other than being over 18), sex or level of activity. However, after calculating the BMI, there is a separate step regarding waist measurements - basically having a waist measurement of half (or less than half) your height is what one should aim for. I would have thought the ratio depends on ones sex - the diagram they use seems to be of a male and I would have thought a healthy weight measurement for a woman would be less than for a man of the same height. But what do I know!!!

@General_Grant so at about 5ft3 that would be a max waist of 31.5". That seems fairly reasonable? Probably impossible for me as I carry most weight in my tummy, but mathematically. I think that's a dress size around 14-16?Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

Morning, first weigh in done! Actually down by .1kg which is only .22lb from last time, which is hardly worth the mention, but I feel so very New Year's Day if you know what I mean, so quite surprised. My phone is pinging a lunch reminder at me, but I have just barely managed breakfast. Go away, phone!Keep reading books!

FatFace 31" is size 14 (size 16 is 33.5")
French Connection 31.5" is size 14 (size 16 is 33.5")
and Marks & Spencer Collection suggests 31.75" is size 14.
I'm old enough to remember when a size 12 waist was 24". I think overall women have become thicker round the middle, whatever their size/weight.
