Hi All,
not sure who is still with us on this journey. It would be nice to know, if you could just pop a hi in the comments please.
This thread was more to help people find their way getting started in small savings and changing things around when trying to start to master debt. I'm not sure if anyone has found this to be a success or not? Again feedback would help.
Thanks for those who are still here and reporting too.

Hi All,
Hope you all well and tidying regularly.
I'm still plodding along, this week my total came in at £20.04.
I tidy each day to get nearest £5 and then add whatever is left over from the budget each month, it's surprising how this small amount can add up, I've found this massively helpful in building emergency funds, paying for my holiday, etc, so every penny can help in getting ahead.

I have started to move each £10 i've managed to get together and move it into a higher interest account fixed for a year with one of my bank accounts. The maximum that can be saved is £200 a month. I've not got that much to put away but will try to make the most of it for as long as I can. It is easy access but limited withdrawal so will use for emergencies if they arise.
Have a good week peeps

Hi, I haven't joined in with this thread but do TT. I have regular monthly savings that go directly into an easy access account, a fixed rate savings account (no withdrawals or additions) and a cash ISA (haven't needed to take anything out yet) so there's not a lot to spare after paying bills.
My TT is as follows:
- Loose change from my purse that I bag up and pay into my bank account first and then transfer to the easy access savings account.
- Each Friday I ring fence the pennies balance on my current account and move that too once it hits a total of £10.
- I also have a pot for cash that I've saved by using Co-op MOCs that vary between 20p and 90p per week, again it goes into savings.
- When I use loyalty points for groceries I move the unused part of the monthly grocery budget into savings.
I haven't tracked how much I've saved using these methods but will next year just to satisfy my own curiosity!
I've also been saving any £2 coins that I get in change and have £46 so far. I'm planning to make January a no/low spend grocery month and will use the £46 towards that. It should be doable, given existing stocks in the freezer and cupboards.
Whilst it's good to save, it's also important to have a treat now and again and I save £2 a week for those. It's usually something small like a bunch of flowers, a bar of chocolate, a nice smelly or maybe a paperback from the CS.

Welcome @YorksLass to our group of Tilly Tidy we will be here again in 2025 as things tighten even further and more people are more aware of making our pennies eek out even further.
Having no spend (NSDs) days are good to do as they make us pay attention to what we already have in our stores and encourage us to use up rather than waste food or other items. An amazing thing I found early on this year was that placing wrinkly carrots into water vessel, I stored ours in the fridge. Change the water every 3 days and they lasted weeks like that. I haven't tried any other root vegetable yet
Good to hear you are making all the pennies work harder by putting them away. I have a small stash of cash hidden away and do not rely on that for anything. It is there for a "just in case" the banking system goes down, I do not want to be caught out again.
So true to remember small treats to oneself go a long way and do not need to be expensive which makes it all the more appreciated.

I'll definitely be on here next year. I don't really do NSDs because I don't shop that often - usually every other week for a grocery delivery and once a week locally - but I do have a no spend week when there's a 5-week month that I find easier than trying to stretch 4 weeks of money over 5 weeks. It's amazing what meals can be made from what you already have. And I love using up leftovers - sometimes they're the best meals.
ETA: I forgot to say spring onions and broccoli last longer in a glass of water in the fridge, just remember to trim a bit off the stalk of the broccoli first. And yes, I do the same as you with wrinkly carrots and swede.Be kind to others and to yourself too.1 -

Hi All,
How quick has this year gone?
As it's the end of the month, I've done a tidy up of the accounts and it comes in at £119.47! 😀
And the yearly total comes in at an outstanding £2207.14 - wow!
It just goes to show that small tidys soon add up to big numbers
Hope you all have a happy new year
