Happy belated birthday Pip!
Have a lovely time away @Toni'sfriend, the break will do you the power of good!
Congratulations on exchanging contracts @DrCarrie, hope the move goes well.
DS1 arrived in Hong Kong & bought a new SIM card, so he could let me know he's ok. I spent at least half an hour trying to sort my phone out so that I could message him - had international phone calls, but not txts, but all sorted now 😊
Went to town, pinned a man into 3 jackets, then collected 6!!! bags of sewing from my drop off point. Looked in a couple of CS's with mum, nothing took my fancy in the first one, but got a 109% lambswool jumper for myself £2, a pair of jeans for DH, a sparkly cushion & nail varnish £1 for both for DS3's GF's birthday, & a set of 4 books I'd been keeping an eye out for for 3 years. Food shopping completed, then home.
Had a late dinner with my free baguette, then went for a cold, windy walk with DH. Put the shopping away, then after tea I lengthened the second sleeve of my jumper.
No reply from DS1 this morning, but managed not to worry too much. Eventually heard from him, he was cold so had bought a coat from a Sally Army shop, & found a place to buy food. Hadn't slept, but watched a man fishing for 10 hours! He later let me know that he'd slept 3 hours & which province he's in, so put our minds at ease.
Sewed the ends of my jumper sleeves in, emptied the bag that the pattern book & wool had been stored in, all put away. Went for a walk with DH. Still a northerly, strong wind, had a dusting of snow underfoot. Forecast is bad for tonight.
Replaced a zip in a coat & fixed another one. Entered my spends into my budget folder & had a soak in the bath with my book.
Grateful for hearing from DS1, bargains in CS, time with mum, going for walks, helpful people, hot chocolate & warm firesUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

Today I'm grateful for my son's very low mood lifting after we had a good chat and he had a little nap

Hope you are having a lovely break @Toni'sfriend !
Weekend has gone very quickly, but I decided to do absolutely nothing, and it was nice. The cleaning and tidying up will still be there waiting for me tonight and the other days of the week.
The birthday I went to on Saturday night was lovely, I'm very happy I went and such a nice change from my usual stay home Saturdays!
Apparently today it was "blue Monday" but, maybe thanks to the beautiful sun, I didn't feel that blue. I felt much better than I did last Monday!
Today was NSD #10 for me.
I am going to log off for the day soon and will prepare the bag for tomorrow. I finished a book during the weekend so will select my next book to read during my commute. There something special about choosing the next new book, it's like a fresh start every time!
Today I am grateful for:- a lovely sunny day

I was very tired yesterday, possibly due to 2 caffeine free days. Went downstairs but felt an overwhelming need for warmth and comfort so came back to bed. More washing and pots have been processed (they have put things in the tumble dryer - I think they wanted the WM - and filled the DW and set that off.) Lots of clean clothes to bring up when I can manage it. rubbish and recycling continues to leave the house (hooray for the squashing capabilities of bricks).
I have nearly 20 items to go to the food bank (mainly toiletries including some of theirs that have been in the cupboard so long the tops were dusty - they won't miss them. Tomorrow's appointment will be a big adventure as it's so long since I went anywhere.
Wrote a long overdue letter - 15 pages and cut up the back page of my new calendar with all the mini versions of the photographs to go with it. Started another list of boring but necessary things to buy -shower curtain (plain white because part of my 'simplify tings means buying most of the basics in white (sheets, towels, bathmat). I put through an order that failed to go through at the weekend and there was an extra 10% off (sale items already have 40% off )- so glad I resisted the urge to get them in December. Only bought 'needs' - the velvet bedspread can wait a bit longer.
Grateful for warm food, warm bed covers and bricks making space in the bin.12 -
Like @laura_lau, it's not been Blue Monday for me today.
NSD 9... work was fine... the sun did shine... right, I'm stopping this rhyme.
Grateful today for staying out of a drama at work, for a lunchtime walk with OH in the winter sun, for a good stretch at body balance, and for best friend giving me a lift to the class.
Hope turtles have had an okay day. x
