An early entry as anticipating I won't have time tonight. Possibly an unintentional NSD for me – was planning to go to the supermarket this afternoon but timing hasn't worked out/kids haven't behaved themselves (the two may be related...), so looks like nothing much going on other than a brief family trip to a nearby town to pick up something for my husband.
Brake cable went on my bike – thankfully we have more at home and DH knows how to fix it himself so no outlay. Was a bit hairy at the time, though, as it broke while waiting for the lights to change at a busy junction. That said, it could have been worse, I could have been going 17mph downhill!
Gratitude!
1) Bikes have two brakes
2) DH who doubles as a bicycle repair man
3) Freezer food, even if this will be the second time having fish fingers and chips in less than a week
4) Just received some free cake!10 -

NSD 6 for me today (I think). Is it just me, or do others find it hard to keep track?I have decluttered a drawer and thrown lots of junk away. Some kids jigsaw puzzles that my grandchildren have grown out of are shortly to be collected by a freecycler (hopefully). If not, others will ask for them as there are lots there and they are all clean and complete. I have also listed some items for sale on FB marketplace, cleaned the bathroom, walked the dog twice and done a load of washing. Need to get the washing on off the line shortly, but don't want to miss the freecycler knocking, so am currently enjoying a sit down and a cup of coffee!Grateful today for a beautiful sunny day, and getting rid of junk!11

Hope you have a relaxing break @Toni'sfriendToday has been a chilled day. Stayed in bed a little longer. OH was at the gym first thing and DS is now of the age where he can go downstairs and turn on the telly by himself. Hooray! On weekends I can take my time in the morning until… ‘MUM, I’M HUNGRY!’.Up, breakfast and then the three of us went to the shops because OH wanted a new work diary from WetStanes. OH also bought us lunch out of his ‘Man Money’ (a rubbish term I’ve just made up for his personal cash.) And DS spent £5 on character cards for collecting and likely trading in the playground. I had to remind myself that I was once a child that loved spending my pocket money on such things. He went out with £10 and came home with £5 which did make me a happy mama turtle. He also agreed to not buying a book because we can borrow it from the library. I’ve already reserved it online and will pick it up next week.NSD 8. Assuming OH and DS’s spends don’t count because it’s not out of the family pot and ‘it wisnae me!’Had a good ‘Sunday Sweep’ today - this is when I sweep underspends in my weekly budgets for food, transport, and leisure into either holiday savings or to mortgage overpayments. Definitely seeing the benefits of no peak-fares on trains here in Scotland. I hope the trial is extended past July!Grateful today for quality time with OH and DS, for a decent Sunday Sweep, and for the excellent combination of tea and chocolate (which I’m currently enjoying whilst on the couch writing my turtle update!)

Hi Turtles,
I have been out all week, not checked in. I have alas spent money every day. So still on NSD #4.
I have exchanged contracts on the house - completing on Wednesday.
Grateful for
- my daughter and her partner are moving me, it's a 3-day job
- my choir buddies and karaoke
- cleaning and purging, its difficult but a really interesting and difficult process that is beginning to feel liberating.

Just updated the NSDs in my signature. 7 today!
I had plans this weekend and happily cancelled them.
Went to see Poor Things at the cinema using my Perkbox points. What a film! Emma Stone is amazing, and so is Mark Ruffalo, but an especial shout out to the very funny Vicky Pepperdine. It's weird and quite rude, so if you like off-kilter comedy it might be your new cup of tea, but mainstream it ain't.
Today's film is Morbius. It's on now as I'm writing. You'd think I wouldn't forget a film about vampires with Jared Leto and Matt Smith in it, but it's less memorable than that and I realise now we already saw it. Apart from that I've been reading Robert Rankin and, yep, nice chilled weekend. Not spending money!Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, spent so far £45.95, remaining £104.05.13 -
