Amazon Prime Video to start showing ads unless you pay an extra monthly fee

  • Not Prime, but watching an old NOWTV eight episode series, the same adverts (two) are broadcast at every ad break.  It drives me mad.  Not so much the adverts but having to watch the same advert over and over.  I now hate them with a passion and even if I was slightly tempted to buy the products I won't now.

The 3 advert with the stupid woman staring at her phone on numerous occasions all the time saying "Aaaah" is the worst one.  It is everything I hate about mobile phones.  The other one is the Cadburys Creme Egg which is at least slightly amusing but now worn off.
Watched the last episode of the NOWTV series last night.  The ads were different!  LOL.  Maybe NOWTV have an AI checking forums.  Creepy!

I hardly watch anything on Prime Video anymore, I think it's only 1 film this year. Because of this, the ads plus removing Dolby Atmos and Vision from their ads tier made me decide to set my Prime account not to renew. If it was still £79 then the charge for ads maybe I'd pay it, but it went up to £95 last year anyway. Also my daughters often order from Amazon and get next day free delivery without having Prime,I'm always telling them get me to order on my account and pay me, they say there's no point. It doesn't end until November so I can watch The Boys and I'll probably get a free trial later in the year. It may be I decide I can't do without it and sign up again but with rising costs everywhere I've realised there is so much TV and films on fta catch up services, also Netflix is worth us having as a household so we'll keep that (unless it goes up by too much again). I can always pay monthly for Prime for the months they have a lot for us to watch/order and then cancel again.
  • I google "good films on Prime" and find recommendations -  some gems that aren't prominently advertised.  Amazon Prime factor in the "free delivery" into the price of items.  It is convenient though to receive items the next day.  I have now watched everything decent on NowTV so in April when the offer ends will stop it.  Netflix - well.  Same old, same old.
