MrsSD awake and up and decluttering at 7.00 this morning .My bookshelves in that ex computer/study/bedroom are 6ft x4ft and there are 6 shelves to each of the two book cases.
This morning managed to harvest another 4 bags to go to the CS. Plus another black bag to go to the tip ..So much junk collected over the years .
In fact not long after we moved in here my late husband bought me a sign to go on the outside of the door to it saying 'Jackie's room enter at your peril'It contained not only books, but all my paperwork from Adult Ed and Uni and goodness knows where else. I found a whole stack of guarantees in one of the filing drawers for gadgets I don't even own anymore that I had got rid of when we downsized to here in 1995 !!!
Its absurd the amount of stuff one puts away and forgets about I even found a couple of prize winning books my youngest DD was awarded at school in 1978 they will be going to her house later today then she can decide what she wants to do with them. Sadly when her and her ex-husband separated back in the 1990s she left him with her daughter in one hand, and a Christmas cactus I had given her in the other
Today the daughter is grown up and a married Mum herself but DD still has her cactus which the children called Cyril for some reasonand its moved everywhere she went and still flowers very well .All her other belonging her ex spitefully burned on a bonfire he was very abusive and controlling and she finally had enough bless her.
She then met and remarried her lovely OH who worships the ground she walks on, and they had four gorgeous sons together. He is a lovely man and the total opposite of her ex thank goodness. I was very glad when she 'decluttered her ex thats for sure
Decluttering is very cathartic I think, and I'm really looking forward to our new life this year after so many ups and downs of last year. We shall be going down to the Iow in March and doing some serious house hunting by then.I have a decorator coming this afternoon to give me a quote for my little room I've just cleared It just want a bit of a spruce up and the walls and paintwork painted so hopefully he can fit me in to do it this month then my house will be ready to market. The agent said not to bother, but I want it to look nice for who ever buys it and a little bit of paint won't break the bank.
Right off to do some more now I've drunk my cuppa
have a good day chums

Just checking in to say hi. I have been reading all the posts and catching up. Welcome to all the new members and rejoiners. I have gone backwards a bit with all the real life challenges of the last two years and the change from living on my own to having DS2 and grandchildren here (50% of time). Went out all day yesterday to York and various places nearby. Luckily shops are full of things I neither need nor want. DS2 bought clothes but has promised a CS bag of stuff today. I only bought Betty's loose decaf tea for my daughter - I usually get some at Christmas but didn't get the chance. Her back is improving slowly. Apart for the odd sniffle and cough the lurgy seems to have left the house. BIL in US has been really poorly with Covid whilst they were enjoying short break in Nashville - on the mend now. They are back at their daughter's home in WV now and luckily their SIL and GD are both doctors. They should now be able to get back to their own house after nearly 4 weeks away.
56 On line meeting decluttered along with papers. Small frog added to my to do list.
Staying in today and intending to do some jobs. DS2 will be around tomorrow so he can take children to school.2025 Decluttering Campaign 648/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

I think it's the TLC carriage for me today. One item due to be collected, but aside from that I think it's a sofa day. This damned cough is still persisting, not massively worse or better, but I'm at the point where I just don't want to do anything but read and chill on the sofaMarried 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Thanks for the compliments on my tidied up corner. I think fresh flowers make such a difference. I'm going to buy some every week this year. Those tulips were quite cheap from Tesco, but they have lasted well. I'm going to try and keep that corner like that from now on.
I think I will declutter and tidy my glass/cup cupboard today. I did want to look for a Pyrex dish to do pasta bakes at home. I did have one, but I donated it before I moved house, but I miss having one now. I will look in a chazzer next week. I did manage to have a NSD yesterday!
I am going to catch up on YouTube as quite a few people bring out their new videos on Sunday morning. Luke Catleugh and Iwan (Mr Carrington) from Sort Your Life Out bring new videos out today. I'm going to tackle the glass cupboard and then watch a video and then tackle the tins of food cupboard and watch another video.2025 GOALS

Big hugs @CoffeeSonata. Many of us know that feeling. Just do one thing be it clear a corner or tidy a draw. Just start. Don't worry about counting or measuring. Remember its a marathon not a sprint and that elephant can only be eaten one mouthful at a time etc. Keep coming and reading or just jump in if there are too many posts.
A note for the Christmas ddecoration declutterers. Most charity shops do not have storage for all the Christmas items they have donated at this time of year. If you can, put them into storage with a calender note to donate at the beginning of November or offer them on local selling/freebie sites. Obviously you can't always keep things but just a thought.
Beef I think @Mrs_Salad_Dodger When my appetite improves for proper food. Nibbling a lot just now.
Stepped out of the TLC carriage yesterday. Didn't get started until 3pm but DD is on her way home from Cnada and needed her room back. I finished clearing the fabric stash in the spare wardrobe in her room and refilled it with the fabrics I am keeping and also several boxes of stuff she wanted to sell online. Selling clothing is not my thing..
As a result of the clearout a bag of rubbish in the bin, a bag of recycling in the reycling bin and a bag of fabric for the cs rags in the car ready to go.
A load of other stuff has also gone into my bedroom which now will need sorting. Many are empty boxes which I want to load with stuff to donate.

What's your idea of a fun Friday night?
Well, me and OH, mostly OH, spent the night sorting coins from our broken demijohn saving bottle into money bags. Yes, you can just take them to the supermarket but if you take them to the bank you get ALL the money. So, the first ten bags have gone in. Yay!! 10 added to the signature! And £50 in the bank.Keep reading books!
