Morning all. House descending into ever more chaos around me as DS2 moves out - he has more stuff here than will ever fit in new place. They have gone to sign off inventory early this morning. I swopped my bed as the best of the King sized ones as I was intending to buy a new higher bed at my new house. The one I am using is a small double which is about the right height but very strange to be in such a small bed.
1009 King sized bed left for DS2s
1010 Presentation case for some sold jewellery binned
1011 Bag full of egg boxes dropped off at farm shop
1012 Used cartridge to recycling
1013 Old glasses to recycling
1014 Small tree (dead) to recycling
I have some frogs to do today and will do a bit more packing up of my stuff.2025 Decluttering Campaign 635/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Have finally caught up with everyones news. Loving all of the island talk. We moved to Cowes in 2014.London 1 your posts remind me of exactly how we felt when we came over. So much more laid back. I worked in a school for a whileand straight after school staff would head straight for the beach with their familys after school on warm days.
A much better work /life balance. As you say the neighbours are great and would do anything for you. When we were veiwing someone told us that we would never be short of visitors if we moved here and they were right. We have the best of both worlds. So very lucky.
This week DH has kicked back into action. He has been dealing with Bull frogs as he calls them! 🤣. As he has been so ill over the last 6 months we have really let things slide and apparantly they have been weighing on his mind as well as mine.
1.New tyres on car
2. Service and MOT
3.changed car insurance company after exhorbitant qoute from usual one. We went to a broker in the end as our non fsult accident 2 years ago didnt fit any of tbe online boxes! 🤯
4. Tidied up front garden shifting all of the weeds out of gravel and wall. (that was a biggy)
I have been making outfits for fancy dress next week on bowls tour so not done much. I did post a parcel back to DD with grandsons Sweatshirts, and toys that they had left behind. Also cleared a lot of children's craft materials from the house after community clubs summer hols craft groups.
I have saved some trousers and shorts that DH had got bleach on by fabric painting the bleached area before dying them black in the washing machine. No decluttering tbere but quite glad that they have lived to fight another day.

Did a bit more in the shed yesterday - 3 bottles part used cleaning products now indoors to be used plus one large very nearly empty bottle which will be finished this week in time to go in recycling bin. It is looking so much better in there.
Having a quiet day today as v tired from the past week. Plan to crack on with things again tomorrow.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅16 -
Gave the sizeable garden ornament to a neighbour who has made a garden on a public footpath near our homes.( she only has a yard) I have decided to give her a wooden bench once/if the house sells.
Going out now to enjoy the last gasps of Summer.

Wondering if anyone in my art class would want frames that I don't want. They are a bit weathered but someone in a charity shop might buy them. I could drop them off today or wait until after Monday's art class.....I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Well my 10 things a day suddenly got very easy. DD was struggling to get to her stash of stickers as she had so much paperwork in her basket. So we decided to sort it out and she decided to get rid of almost all of it! From tomorrow my 10 things a day will include digital stuff as I do need to get back to decluttering that.Yesterday was a great lesson in decluttering for DH. I was playing with DD and in getting something out of the cupboard I picked one of DD's toys up and said "shall we get rid of this?", DD says "Yes, get rid of it". DH was them umming and ahhhing about it and saying he wasn't sure. This was also the response a few months ago and so I agreed to see if she plays with it in that time (which she hadn't). DD then says: "No daddy, get rid of it because I never play with it". There you go, a lesson from a 3 year old
Later DH says "I think the kids are better are getting rid of things than I am.". Yep. Maybe that's his light bulb moment!
I am currently sorting out my library incredibly slowly. I've been doing the odd thing when I need a break from work and currently have cleaned and sorted out 2 shelves and lots more to go. Trying to think about it before I move books around as that takes ages.Digital:

6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Forgot to mention that my DB phoned & had a long chat with my DH. Saturday is overcast although still quite warm with temperatures set to rise to 22°C, however it is very breezy ☹️ The recycling wheelie bin has been emptied this morning - only 2 days late. I have already dealt with today’s mail & am enjoying my first cuppa 🙂 DH is watching MotoGP qualifying & DSis is up & about. So straight into cheerleading 😉 (DH tried to repair the small garden fountain (the type that goes in a water bowl) but with no success so that has been added to the Tip bag = number 1447. He has also filled the bird feeders & is now pootling about in the garage 😊)
vulpix, sounds like a delicious meal made all the more special by bit_by_bit’s contribution of green beans 🥹 Are DD1 & her BF going to be moving nearby to your current place? Just wondering if they will miss the Shetland Islands 🤔 Fingers crossed that the move goes well & that the crossing is smooth in both directions 🤞 A cruise in November sounds great especially as you have been refining your wardrobe & are all set to dine at the Captains table 😉 Are you sure MrV is retiring New Years Eve, after all there is still Burns Night & Valentines Day 🤭 Good luck with your sales 🍀 Perhaps the stone patio could be used at your new home? That early bird viewer sounds like a bit of a nightmare so I hope that the EA has warned other agencies about her 😔 Fingers crossed yesterday’s viewing went well & that they have already made an offer 🤞
London_1, it might have taken time to make the move to the Isle of Wight but it sounds like the wait was worth it 🥹 The perfect place for your DGSs to visit & recharge their batteries with Ben in particular making the most of it 😊 Like GrannyKate I have never visited the IoW but your love of the island shines through each time you post 🥹 Perhaps you should get a job with the Tourist Board 😉 Are you sure you have only been there 7 weeks 😉 you are so immersed in island life that it almost seems like you have lived there all your life 🤩 Fingers crossed that your son-in-law can get the builders sorted out soon 🤞It is gratifying to hear that the island is so eco conscious & shows what can be done if the will is there 👏
GrannyKate, that does sound chaotic 😥 Sorry to hear that you are still in limbo with your house move ☹️ Hopefully things will be clearer & more progressed by the time you head off to France so that you can enjoy yourself & recharge your batteries ready for the move 🙏 What an excellent result re the jewellery 👏 I have everything crossed that your IT is now fully functional 🤞
~FlowerPot~ excellent work in the garden 👏 Hopefully the weather will stay dry whilst you tackle the rest of the bindweed 🤞Excellent indoor decluttering as well especially the books & furniture 👏 I wish you continued success in your endeavours to reduce your book collection 😊 As you have done so well I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ Good luck with the decorating 🍀
ruby_eskimo, congratulations on being in your new home 🥳 What a lovely thing to do by your DH 😊 I bet that earned him a few or should that be a lot of Brownie points 🤭 as well as a medal 🏅 from me 🙂 Well done on your choice of movers 👏 How awful that the previous owners left the house in such an awful state 😡 From memory if they had done that in France, they would have been made to pay for cleaners + pay to have the rest of the contents removed unless previously agreed with the new owners. I am also awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ for all the work you have done so far 😊
Crazycatlady2, sounds absolutely exhausting 😩 Well done on getting so much done already 👏 I had to smile at the mention of ‘grumpy teen daughter’ finding something she likes doing 😂 Sending lots of cwtches your way at such a sad time 🤗
suzeesu2000, just wondering if living on the IoW for 24 years now makes you an islander 🤔 It sounds marvellous 🤩 Always wonderful when you have such good neighbours 😊
Excellent work GrannyKate 👏 Well done on passing the halfway mark to your target 👏 One Gold Star ⭐️ is winging its way to you as I type 😊 Good luck dealing with frogs today 🍀
Soontobeoap, all this talk of how content & happy everyone is living on the Isle of Wight is such a joy 🥹 With so many of you living there it might be rather pleasant for you to have a meet-up & put faces to names 😊 Sorry to hear that your DH has been so ill 😔 I hope that now he is feeling a bit better he is not overdoing it 🙏 Great work by both of you dealing with so many Bullfrogs 👏 I am awarding you Each a Gold Star ⭐️ ⭐️ as your counting as 5 nowhere near tells the story of how much effort has been involved 😉 I am hoping that you will post some pictures of the fancy dress outfits even if it is on the ‘No Craft Spending Thread’ 🙏 as I saw your post about the remedial work on the bleach marks. Hopefully your concerted effort to get the clothes back to a good state will be rewarded 🤞
More excellent work in the shed oceanspirit 👏
vulpix, fingers crossed that you get to gift a garden bench to your neighbour 🤞
Brie, my two pennies worth is that you should give your Arts class members first dibs on the frames 😅
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 I see you have passed the 15,000 mark (with a lot of help from your DD 😊) so I am awarding you a Gold Star ⭐️ Now to your DD - I am so impressed - 3 years old & already putting in a bid to join the Swedish Death Cleaning team as both a declutterer & a psychologist 🥹 What a star she is & so I am very pleased to award her a Gold Star ⭐️ Hopefully her comment to her dad will be his light bulb moment & he will get around to tackling his clothes 🙏😉 - you never know he might earn his own gold star 😂
Lovely to see you Mrs_Money_Penny 👋 Excellent work with the digital decluttering & I see you are now on 7,000+ 👏 As I was awarding you a gold star for each 1,000 I am now sending you Two Gold Stars ⭐️ ⭐️ to add to the 5 you already have 😉 Good luck with the conservatory tidying 🍀
Yippee, all caught up 🥳 It has suddenly got very dark even though the forecast makes no mention of rain - fingers crossed the forecast is correct 🤞DSis has just popped out to sm as she has run out of crisps 😉 Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday 🙂

Today I used my new lawn mower.....I'm sure the neighbours had a laugh at me 🤣 also a bathroom came out into skip and cleared more in garden.....ivy was strangling everything down one side of the garden. The bath that was a pond can also be removed and go in skip now it's empty and apple tree will now longer be dropping apples everywhere cos we cut it down....can I have a rest yet?
Eldest bought me a Lego bonsai tree fir my birthday....not sure when I'll have time to build that but I've identified a spot in new house to display it 😍17 -
Hello, what a busy bunch you are.
I miss the days of lots to sort and rehome. It certainly is addictive. No offer on the house. One will come.Mrs SD, DD1 and BF will miss The Shetland Islands so much. So will we. Life there is like where I live now when I was a kid and it was a village. DD says it would be too easy to stay there but she is ambitious. There aren’t any career advancement opportunities for her there. They have loved every minute of it and been accepted into the community and participated in everything on offer. DD will be still doing some remote work for them so they are not cutting ties. They have made many good friends they will keep in touch with. DD has a house in Sheffield which is about 25 miles from me. It will be nice to see more of them.I haven’t had time to finish tidying the garden yet. Tbh I would rather get out and about when I can.Vx:16
