Soontobeoap said:We moved to Cowes in 2014.London 1 your posts remind me of exactly how we felt when we came over. So much more laid back. I worked in a school for a whileand straight after school staff would head straight for the beach with their familys after school on warm days.
A much better work /life balance. As you say the neighbours are great and would do anything for you. When we were veiwing someone told us that we would never be short of visitors if we moved here and they were right. We have the best of both worlds. So very lucky.
Well his ashes have, and will come with me when I eventually shuffle off, not for awhile yet though.Far too much to do.
I go to the Family history place in Northwood on a Saturday morning, and they have lots of things on apart from the weekly Saturday coffee morning.
Mrs SD even Ryde Boots have a recycling bin for empty tablet blister packs, where I think if you return 15 empty packs you gain rewards point (every little helps and better than putting them into landfill)
I took a nice bus ride (no point using the car during the summer holidays ) to go into Newport yesterday, where there is a fabulous butchers (There is also a branch in Cowes High Street) not cheap but do the best Barnsley chops.
Had them for dinner tonight absolutely gorgeous.
This afternoon the builder rang and said hopefully he will start towards the end of September with the renovation work, so my own sitting room will become a reality and I can get all my treasures around me,
My DD and I are travelling up to Faversham for a couple of days in three weeks time, so DD can see her two granddaughters (my two gt granddaughters) before they go off to Florida with their parents for their much looked forward to and saved for trip to Disneyland.
I shall also hopefully get to see my other sis-in-law Val in Bromley, as she is not at all well and has just finished extra chemo bless her.
I will also see my eldest DD fingers crossed, it will be a bit of a rush around couple of days as my youngest DD has snaffled a couple of days leave from her job .
Even though she only started a week after we moved, her boss said she has 10.5 days to use up before the end of the year, so she will probably have half term off so the teaching sons can come down to visit us.
I know Ben is definitely coming, he only went back yesterday and I'm missing him already as he had been down for since the end go July.
Right, well enough waffling ,hope all is well and folk don't have too much of the forecast stormy weather
Night night God Bless all here

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
The rain held off until 02:00 Sunday morning 😉 Dinner was linguine bolognaise (no spaghetti in the cupboard ☹️) A single person portion of the sauce is now in the freezer & the rest has had peas added to it & will be topped with mash for tomorrow night’s dinner. Wudupa.

Crazycatlady2, a new toy 😊 You had a very busy Saturday 👏 so I hope you did give yourself permission to rest after cutting down the apple tree 😊
vulpix, nice to hear that your DD is not cutting ties with Shetland & that she will be living quite close to you 😊 My brain does work oddly as the first thing I noticed was that the 1st 3 letters & last letter of each place were the same 🤣
London_1, what a lovely Saturday 😊 Thank you for sharing your memories of your husband 😊 Does this mean that you are an islander by marriage 🤔 Fingers crossed that the builder can start next month 🤞 You will definitely be very busy when you are back on the mainland 🤩 Hopefully you will be able to fit everyone in 🙏
Sleep tight everyone 😴

Morning, can't believe it's September already, had a lovely day yesterday DH drove to Glastonbury, (2 hours from here.)
I took about 40 books, or 2 heavy bags hoping the second hand book shop there would buy them. These were books I have gone through, passed to me from my sister. I stored them under the stairs, some have been there over 2 years, patiently waiting for me to take them to this shop! It's a mind, body and spiritual bookshop and these all fitted that bill! Very happy that they paid me for them all and then had a delicious lunch from my favourite cafe and then purchased a couple of pendants with my cash! (amber and citrine)
So today, I hope to remove the rest of the stuff under the stairs and work out a plan to get it out of the house!
Take a load of garden waste to the tip and dig over a bit of reclaimed garden that DS2 cleared yesterday. I also need to put in a work order for suppliesI will endeavour to report back if this has been achieved!ooh and thank you MRS SD for my gold star xx♥️ ♥️ ♥️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸Decluttering 2025 So far 403 / 2025

So, we got an email with feedback from the EA. No room for a table. Well actually there is but some people can't imagine the space being different from how it is presented. The woman who turned up 2 hours early said the same thing. ( I discounted her as she was as mad as a bucket of frogs.) So, there will be a table next time anyone views.I am on the case. A table and 2 chairs will appear, as if by magic!
I never made the connection with Shetland and Sheffield Mrs SD.

@Brie , we used to call really big knickers polo neck knickers! My.mum had large cotton ones I remember pegging up:)
Been absent but life v hectic. Hired a car as decided for time being not to replace mine and waiting in the returns queue! Just found someone to take the spare set of car mats so out with some packaging, 5 bags of books to cs and some plates. Dd2 away now for a week and I have a 3/4 painted room with some spills around the place and her belongings scattered. As my belongings are also scattered ( spent half an hour looking for hire car keys) so have 5 days to aetan example ( good one hopefully) !17 -
Hi all, the last 3 days have been a mix of sorting things, decluttering and a bit of tidying. I have also had to go to the sm 3 times to get stuff. We have been sorting a few favours for the wedding. We bought small bottles, about 25ml I think and have filled them with whiskey and vodka. They have labels with the bride and grooms name on
. One of the sm trips was to get the whiskey
. OH already had the vodka as sometimes when pupils pass it is gifted so that has helped clear a space in the cupboard
. We will be seeing the mother of the groom tomorrow so they will be leaving the house then. OH now just has to finish decorating the cake and I still need to sort an outfit
I have sorted 4 LDFPA, decluttered some hair so I no longer look like a burst couch, accidentally decluttered a mug and a Pyrex casserole dish that threw themselves off the worktop
, some more body lotion found and passed to ln, the kitchen bin and bathroom bin emptied 100 emails deleted and 2 big cardboard boxes emptied and recycled and a big bag of garden waste which has now filled the green bin. I have also sorted through my underwear draw and 3 pairs of knicks have been put into the rag bag
I have been working my way through these since pre pandemic and still have loads so I obviously had far too many
and I have been trying to sort out bits in the conservatory. OH has taken to leaving clothes in there and I am slowly moving them with each load of washing sorted I have been picking up a few from the pile and taking them upstairs for OH to deal with. I have watched quite a lot of the para Olympics
.
Today I am on a mission to finish sorting out my garden pots. They are spread all over the place, I have uncovered a pile from under the ivy, and need to be gathered together so I can see what is useable and what will be reduced to crocks, passed on or recycled smiley: and then there is footy on the tv
@QueenJess I noticed you mentioned work, have you got a new job? So glad you seem to have got to a place where you are feeling you are on top of everything and enjoying spending time with your children, you have worked so hard and are an inspiration to me. I just need to focus more
@London_1 lovely to see how happy you are in your new home
@Vulpix I think you are right, some people just don't have the ability to imagine what they can do with a space. When I bought my house it had been empty for several months and was completely empty but the ea said it had put people off because along with the very dated decor people couldn't visualise how it would look with furniture. I thought it was easier being empty than when viewing full housesI have sent you a pm
Right off to sort pots. Hugs to everyone who would like one

Friday = 2 bags to CS, 1 bag of soft plastic to supermarket (breakfast out & a walk about with DSis which was just short of 4km - her longest walk to date!)
Saturday = under bed excavations and another bag for charity started
Sunday = early morning walk for DSis and me. Today’s decluttering has mostly been the limescale in the bath. With my ‘aggressively hard water’ I should buy shares in Viakal…….

Afternoon all and happy September!
I realise I haven't checked in for a wee while - possibly 6 weeks?so I'm here to confirm to myself, as much as anyone else, that progress has been made... counting everything is a useful reminder that Stuff Has Left The Flat!
2278-2438: 160 GB data deleted.
2439-2455: 850 emails deleted
2456-2666: rubbish out
2667-2817: items to recycling.
2818: printer cartridges returned to the company for recycling
2819-2821: leaflets to recycling and mail returned to sender from communal hallway
2822-2831: 9 carriers to delivery driver for cash kerching!
2832-2863: books sold and packaging to send them off, kerching!
2864-2908: items to charity shop (clothes, books, blu rays)
2909-2920: bags of rubbish and recycling to the downstairs bins
2921: all plants repotted.
and the total of old stuff is now 480 - a few frogs have been eaten and deferred decisions have been made.
Here's to a new month!
And congratulations on reaching page 502.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

hello all
mid way through my five days in a row and approaching halfway point with the work reconcilation trial. Has not been well recieved generally and after feedback from myself and my colleague today(!!); I really hope they dont roll this out long term! We did not finish what would usually have been done daily - there is some overspill that will have to be completed tomorrow morning from Saturdays input - and then we can start on Sundays input. LOL its gonna be a fun one. (she says with no sarcasm whatsoever!)
A little decluttering as two more of my items have sold on ebay so they are packaged up ready for Royal Mail to collect tomorrow. Pleased with that, a little more money in the coffers!
Due to have lightning or bad weather and is VERY humid here in London at the moment. Yuk!

Hello declutterati chums. When I was last here MrRif was still in hospital with his “severe sepsis “. Looking after him and myself since then has left me tired and rather aimless. Well he was in another three weeks and came home very washed out and weak. After three weeks at home he was in hospital again - sepsis again , a different organism and this time as we recognized the early signs he was back home after two weeks, but still weak. During his first stay I had my routine mammogram and lightning struck us again and I was then dealing with the investigations etc , but the biopsies were great news- nothing bad . So ,all I could manage was to look after MrRif and me for a long time. I’ve been following along, though. Well we had daily visits from the nurse and I put my foot down with MrRif and said that he would recover in the spare spare bedroom where there’s lots of space for the Nurse and so his cardboard box collection on one of the twin beds would have to go and here’s what was decluttered.
4 bags of polystyrene
5 cardboard boxes
5 tatty underpants
1 pair trousers
5 pairs socks
2 T shirts
1 pile random “things” , eg a bit of wire!
total 23
to which I added
48 books sold
10 magazines
1 dress
1 pair reading glasses
1 bag mixed yarn
1 bag ( 1 kilo of wool for a jumper I’m never going to crochet)
1 fleece
1 pair trousers
1 bag of plastic plant pots
1 pair leaky boots
2 towels to rags
1 pile docs composted
1 chipped bowl
total 23+70 = 93 + the71 I have cleared already =164/366
We are now both doing well and so grateful to be through all that. When I came home from visiting all I was fit for was a glass of wine and lots of chocolate biscuits and reading about you decluttering journeys, lows and highs.
I must add that those of you who added “ hugs for all those who need them,” - their hugs were really appreciated by me on the low days and you do a great deal of good with these virtual hugs . So, hoping to post more often,
and hugs from me for all those of us who might need them.18
