A struggle but I added 5 tops to the CS bag, which had 2 very large books, so not alot but dropped it off so that I can start a new one as that's abit of a motivation, had noted that I'd packaged and posted an item, returned an item and 2 notebooks recycled so 646. Mainly been binge watching a k drama and been to the cinema, going to tidy tomorrow as have diy person helping Monday!
Hugs to those in need, and delivering some cakes and treats to the TLC carriage18 -
Hi all, good decluttering day today, I got 3 loads of washing on the line, 2 dried but 1 now on the maiden as it started to rain. I was watching the football on tv but I was so stressed by it I kept going out of the room to find something to distract me
. Bathroom bin, bedroom recycling, kitchen bin emptied. 2 bags and a box from the conservatory sorted. 1 box full of OH's stuff brought into the lr and OH has actually sorted it out so we have gone from a largish box to 2 files, an a-z and a framed photograph of OH's Dad
. The rest was put in the recycling or a big rubbish bag that OH is continuing to fill with other carp. It will be put in the wheelie bin tomorrow rather than being left in the lr
. I am claiming it though as I brought it in and asked for it to be sorted
I have put a dressing gown in the cs bag, too small and another in the cs rag bag as it has a plaster stain that I can't shift and for some reason I seem to have spare dressing gowns so not needed
. After the football finished a set of old car mats OH was keeping for justin have been binned and 6 rose cuttings have been sorted for OH to take to the niece on Monday. I would rather have left them a bit longer but OH wanted to take them and I do have another 10 plus they seem quite easy to grow. Bag of compost uu and bag binned
. I will try to get a picture tomorrow but it was raining and I was getting quite wet by the time I had finished
@weenancyinamerica sorry to hear about Di, hoping for a speedy recovery. I think I would be cooling off in the pool when it gets warmer if I were you
@Mrs SD I have been contemplating a basketweave baby blanket as wellbut I need to get some yarn first
@TC77 try putting like with like as this might give you a starting point in the bedroom. Do you have any boxes yet? It might be easier if you pack a few things after you have sorted, just keeping a bare minimum for use until you move and declutter as you go. Hugs. Thanks for the cakes in the tlc carriage, I will pop in and give them a try, purely for research purposes of course and absolutely nothing to do with my love of cakes
@Vulpix hugs for the Ukranian lady. I am sure she will be grateful to get anything from you or your Mum. It does make you think doesn't it. I have a friend who escaped out of Kuwait during the war there. She travelled overland to Jordan with her Palestinian hubby and his Mum. As they travelled they had all their possesions "confiscated" by various border guards and arrived in the UK with just the clothes they were wearing. Luckily she is from the UK and had family who could help them until they got sorted out.
I don't think you have to worry too much about your clothes, you are so good at decluttering now you will sort them as and when you need to
@Florenceem sorry you are suffering as well, hugs. Hoping Mr F picks up a bit, maybe he is just being careful with himself after the falls. I should think it would seriously knock your confidence having that happen.
@Fizz2015, sorry you are suffering as well, I'm not even sure now if it hasn't morphed into a hayfever type of thing but like you I have tried all sorts but no solution yet. Good luck with getting some help for your DD hugs.
Right off to bed now, hoping I can continue to sort tomorrow but OH has come home with a massive bag of shopping which has been left on the kitchen floor so I think some cooking will be happening so the kitchen will be like a bomb site again. Hugs to everyone who would like one

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Timer was set for another hour. Raining again - started about 16:30 & continued through to 20:00 DH attached his heart monitor at 18:00 which he needs to keep on for 48 hours. Just after 19:00 DH & I started prepping dinner - used an HF card for spaghetti with meatballs with rocket drizzled in balsamic glaze. DH & I thought it was delicious 🤤 although for some reason DSis didn’t enjoy it as much as when we made it last year 😒 DSis & I are watching BGT - a couple of great acts 🙂 Wudupa. The weather has been appalling as it has been raining heavily on & off since about 16:00 - although it has felt a bit warmer than of late 🙂
665 - 668 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, cardboard packaging, plastic jar - recycled
669 Kitchen detritus binned
nannywindow, please take care 🙏You are in the wars at the moment so I am ‘wagging my finger’ & firmly requesting that you take yourself to the TLC Carriage 🙏 I have to disagree that you haven’t done much decluttering - you have done a great deal especially as you have been feeling so rough 👏
Wednesday2000, very pleased to hear that you aren’t in pain 😊 Good luck with your planned decluttering 🍀
vulpix, all I can think is that they have all the work done under general anaesthetic 😉 Poor woman 😔 hopefully this is the start of a better life & it is wonderful that there are so many kind people around to help out 😊 Just wondering what you are knitting? I hope you haven’t forgotten how curious I am 😉
TC77, no you should not be a ‘Justin’ for your daughters 😉 Agree completely with daisy_1571 👏
Wooly_Mammoth, reorganising can be just as effective as decluttering - both actions can create space 👏 Wow no wonder your cat is a diva as I googled & 17 cat years = approximately 84 human years 🤩
TC77, good luck with the clothes decluttering 🍀
florianatwobob you definitely have green fingers 😊 Pleased to hear that you enjoyed the sunshine on Friday 😊
Excellent decluttering Pennypincin 👏 Good luck with your more “intentional”shopping 🍀
ilovetea, still excellent decluttering regardless of the mistyping 👏
Excellent decluttering of physical items, digital & tasks oceanspirit 👏
Excellent & eclectic decluttering wishus 👏
Sorry to hear about the earache Liverpool_Anne 😔 Keeping everything crossed that the sinus issue is resolved soon 🤞Some great decluttering 👏 & good luck solving the storage issue for your planned renovations & decorating 🍀
TC77, sometimes it is so difficult to get started but just one thing decluttered will be a win 😊 I am willing you on 🍀
A lovely post retiredinfrance 😊 I am so pleased to hear that you are both taking care of & treating yourself 👏 Your new total is 78/366. More cwtches coming across the channel for both you & Mr rif 🤗
Lovely to see you diminua 👋 Very healthy looking tomato plants 😊 Hopefully once you have decluttered the clothes & books you will start to see more going out than coming in 🤞
vulpix, so pleased that you managed to get some sleep 😊 & felt ready to tackle the world on Saturday 😉 Great work on Friday with the kitchen cupboards 👏- 10 minutes to go through ALL your kitchen cupboards is amazing 🤩 Re the new stone seat, I am not too sure that Geoff Capes would be much use - he is 74 now 😉 Tom Stoltman would probably be better or maybe even Luke Stoltman 😂 Hope you had a good day at your Mum’s & managed to get more items bagged for the Ukrainian lady 😊 Also keeping my fingers crossed that the weather stays dry for curtain drying 🤞
machasraven, it might be a tiny room but you still have a dedicated library 😊 Sounds like a great way to spend a Friday evening 😉 although I don’t envy your hangover 😂
Wow you have been super busy Florenceem 🤩👏 I popped over to the Bust my Stash thread & am very impressed with all your makes - especially the shelf curtains 👏
London_1, sounds like your DD had an absolutely marvellous time in NYC 😊 & to see her granddaughter walking is such a special memory 😊 Your grandson Danny must be doing really well to afford to live so near to Central Park - you must be so proud 🥹 So very sorry to hear about your ex sister-in-law 😔 Very well done to your great niece for completing the London Marathon & in such a good time 🥳 & a great amount of money raised for such a worthy charity 👏
Florenceem, 14 years of wear for a set of curtains is really good going 🤩 Sorry to hear that MrF needs to see the doctor 😔 Hopefully you can get an early appointment so that whatever is causing the issue can be resolved speedily 🙏 I am also keeping my fingers crossed that the rough sleeper will get temporary accommodation soon. Bad enough walking around in the rain without having to find somewhere to sleep 😔 Well done to your sister for her decluttering efforts 👏
florianatwobob, nice that you & your cousins have so much in common 😊
A lovely supportive post Florenceem 😊 Sorry to hear that you also have an earache 😔
peewhyeff, thanks for the information 👏 - I was thinking that the 3rd plant might also be a tomato as all 3 had hairy stems but was confused by the leaf shape.
Excellent decluttering Deni_debt-free_dreamer 👏 Congratulations to your colleague on her retirement 😊 Sounds like you are really enjoying your crochet class 😊 I am hoping you will post a photo of your first make 🙏
ionafan, thanks for the extra information about tomato plants 👏
weenancy, pleased to hear that Di is home & hopefully her medication will start working quickly 🙏 Great to hear that listing three things to do each day is proving so successful 👏 Excellent decluttering & hopefully you will be able to drop all the books & puzzles at the library tomorrow 🤞However, please be careful as that trunk sounds as is if it is very heavy 🙏 A library that is open seven days a week - a testament to a great librarian 🥹 and so wonderful that her work is being recognised both nationally & internationally 🥳 I see that you are extremely busy again although I am hoping that you are finding time to rest & relax & see your family 🙏 Thank goodness that your weather is finally coming good 😌 Just hoping that we finally get some consistently dry weather as we are all getting rather fed up with the rain & cold 😔 No wonder the description was changed from Global Warming to Climate Change 😉 I was just wondering if you have managed to visit the husky & also if your feral cat is still visiting ? Sending cwtches to you & Di 🤗
More excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 & very well done on your mini challenge 👏 Three days to go & 5 items to find - wishing you every success 😊
Fizz2015, so sorry to hear that you have been suffering for so long with sinus issues & earache 😔 Sending gentle cwtches 🤗 Pleased to hear that your new job is going well & hopefully with a bit more time your new team will thaw out 😉 Fingers crossed that the support for your family & your DD will be forthcoming in very quick time 🤞
Excellent decluttering TC77 👏 I knew you could do it 😊 so I hope you are feeling proud of yourself 🥹
Wow what a busy Saturday Liverpool_Anne 🤩 Such a lot of decluttering & I quite agree that you should count OH’s decluttering in your numbers as without your encouragement he would probably keep everything 😂 Some lovely cheerleading 😊 are you absolutely positive that you wouldn’t like to be joint cheerleader-in-chief 😂 Now the only thing left is for you to train OH to clear up after himself when he is batch cooking 🤞 I wish you luck 🍀
And now I can breathe as I am all caught up again 😮💨 By the way - it is still raining 😔

Bella the husky has been to visit us several times in the last couple of months. She has been glad to see us, but has been ready to go to her new home when time to leave which is just great. Her new person has been sending us pictures of her on a regular basis via FaceBook. Feral cat Mitt is still coming - he is about 10 or 11 years old now. But he lives here most of the time - even though he seems to check around for other places to eat occasionally. He was born here. At one time we had 23 feral cats thanks to neighbor who had been feeding them and then trained them to come here when she was getting ready to move as my father loved cats also. If you get feral cats fixed, after awhile you run out of feral cats. I miss them sometimes.18

Mrs SD thank you for.positove words and your cheerleading which helps me catch up with everyone's journeys. Sorry to hear about many people struggling.
My oldest friend ( went to nursery school) lost her house and belongings in a californian fire and I think of how I agonise over passing on a few things and the stories of those leaving war torn countries is both heart breaking and inspiring of human residence.
@Liverpool_Anne I still have to find somewhere to move to! I am spoilt where I am, close to station, shops, walk to the heath and my road closed off to traffic!
A few years ago I got rid of some.fantasy me stuff , make up I never wore..I struggle with things that the charity shops couldn't sell for example.too many clothes relegated to bedhead or painting etc but too good for rags and I should get through them, and vintage stuff that can't go to cs etc.
Found a jumper I hadn't worn for years and it's lovely and cosy polo that goes under jumpers so do find making myself wear something is good. If I don't feel good/ comfy then out. Giving myself the summer to fit in some clothes or have to go even though I like them.17 -
Friday was a busy day as I was getting the bric a brac sorted for Saturday's table top sale. I did have very willing males to do the heavy carrying.
Our food bank was busy and we ran out of some items. I popped to the nearby Asd. and did a trolley of shopping for food bank and got a chap to push it to SA for me. I am Blessed to be able to afford to do this.
Mr F had been to the charity shop with stuff. I don't want to stop him doing this as it is his exercise and something to do.
Yesterday I was at SA from 6.50 until 3 - it was our monthly table top sale - we raised £654.97 which was surprising as we were not busy. We Blessed people with new clothes and shoes for £2 - took a good amount on the clothing tables.
My eldest Dd and Dsil popped in to see us - down for the weekend.
Very tired when we got home but offered to take in the food delivery at 7 to give C a rest.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Thanks Mrs SD for your comforting post and you too, Florenceem . Yes, we have top up insurance so nothing to pay . It’s not like America here,. A friend with no top up had to pay only 200 euros for an operation that would have been 6000 plus privately in the UK . Things are fairer here. Florenceem, it has been just like what happened to MrF . MrR refused everything on Wednesday after settling well, then the hallucinations until Thursday when after a visit from the Geriatric specialist they sedated him and he slept until Saturday morning when they started very light sedation in the drip and when I came in on Saturday afternoon he said straight away that he had been having psychotic episodes and was very calm and lucid. No UTI but lots more blood etc taken and a lumber puncture while he was sedated. He dozed on and off and was more like himself. I’m sorry to go on but I don’t want to tell the children or other family and my best friend in the U k recently lost her DH .
Glad to hear Di is back home. WeeNancy , I have a friend here who feeds 18 feral cats . She thinks they have a network as even though treated there always seems to be 18. They shelter in the barn.Florenceem , you take care.On the decluttering front ,
2 tea towels out for rags
1 book for CS
1 book for French library sale,
total 78+4=82/366
Today is our annual village Brocante fair but I’m not going as no point in bringing more clutter in and I’ve plenty of pretty tat already.
That is one of the secrets to maintainance. Thanks ,hugs and cwtches for you all, chums.
PS, in case anyone wonders about the top up insurance it is nothing like what it would be in the UK and we pay the same here for all our insurances as we did in the UK19 -
DD landed safe and sound, if sad to leave her son and DIL and granddaughter behind. also nice weather and coming home to our rain she will feel like she's not been away.Beautiful weather in NYC blooming awful in UK
but back home again at least

My younger brother struggled with the fact my parents didn't tell him exactly how poorly my dad was the weekend before he died, so brother went back to uni & was away when dad died on the Tuesday evening.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thankyou MrsSD I am back in the TLC carriage today as per your instruction but I did buy some cherry cake to take with me. Anyone want a slice, sorry it's not hm though.
Retiredinfrance I would tell the children so they are in the loop, but then that's our family and you must make your own decision. I told my DD, who in turn told my DGC 12&14 that I now have cancer too ( as does DH) and what is going on. My DD would rather know than be kept in the dark and my DGC wondering why they can't come up Nanny and Bumpy's every week for their tea. Sadly some days we're just not up to it, they're not daft and would know something was up.
I decluttered a scan yesterday and was in and out before my appointment time as the hospital was deserted, it looked like the Marie Celeste, very eerie. Afterwards we went to the hospital restaurant and had a meal, lamb hotpot for me and a cheese pasty and chips for DH, very good quality and value for money too. Tomorrow I have an MRI at noon but I have to wait for 3/4 hrs and then go back for part 2, think we'll go and have another meal in the hospital restaurant to pass some of the time. If we lived nearer I'd go every day, the food is so good.
Take care all, hugs to those in need.
