It's the most wonderful time of the year! Not Xmas, but the day before the bins and recycling go after a 2 week wait! Lots of sorting to do, but I will be so glad to see the back of it!
Also today, visit to family, and the dreaded MOT. Mr Fs new job now starts tomorrow instead, so he will be home unexpectedly. I'm not great at last minute changes, but I think he's planning to organise van hire to do tip runs this weekend, so that's good!Married 40y.o. mum of an autistic 11y.o. Carer/SAHM.

Back home and decluttering starts anew. I managed to declutter to my youngest DGS Mikey an old video camera thats not been used in yonks . He is a second year film and photography student at Essex Uni and was more than happy to relieve me of it
I told him if he can use it or sell it he's welcome to it as it was only cluttering up a space in my ex -computer room, thats now been returned to a bedroom state as the desk top and desk were decluttered before Christmas.
He also took my hairdryer as I rarely used it. I keep my hair quite short now as I find difficulty in my right arm because of lymphodema and a torn rotor cuff in my shoulder that can't be repaired, and my right arm doesn't want to raise very high .So young Mikey was happy to take that as well as he has longer hair, owing to being a broke student and haircuts are a bit down his list of essentials and definitely below eating
One of the other boys took my Airfryer as when we move as I will be moving in with DD and son-in-law we won't need two and to be honest it was an impulse buy that hadn't really had much use as I tended to use my remoska more.
So another gadget out of the kitchen I am trying to be as minimal as I can, and this morning I did a small declutter on one of the 'junk' drawers in my kitchen as the bin men are coming tomorrow, so a bag of total tat is already for them Some bits I'm not even sure what they are for, but as they have been in the drawer for god knows how long they obviously weren't vital so they have gone.
I'm becoming quite ruthless now about clutter and if its not been used in the past 3 months its going to go.
I just keep thinking of how much I would have to pack when we move, I am certainly not moving junk from one house to the next .
Happy New Year decluttering chums, as the weather is grotty its a good way to be useful indoors, far too wet to go walking around the park as I do on dry days anyway

Phew, after running down the platform I've just managed to jump on the train!
I'd love to join the challenge please. I want to get rid of extra stuff in the house so my home can be calm and uncluttered.
Not sure about having a target and how to arrive at one.
Want to save money as I have previously bought things and then found that I already have one.
Have got the lurgy but am going to start putting stuff in a charity bag as a start.
Will also be decluttering weight as I am attempting to improve my health and run a half marathon in September22 -
Hello everyone! Hopping back aboard the EDT for 2024 full of enthusiasm and thanks to @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
for keeping us all on track to have less cluttered and more organised lives this year.
My goal for the year is the same as last year - to remove one item for every day of the year (at least) and to systematically declutter and organise the house. But this year I really need to do it as we're hoping to move at the end of the year / beginning of next year and I want to make that process as easy as possible. I'm still haunted by memories of moving into this house where I was just throwing things into boxes the day before we moved because DH hadn't packed a thing despite taking a few days off work and there was SO MUCH STUFF.
This also means I need to work on reducing the amount of things coming into the house which I'm also tracking. Food is something which doesn't count but I also need to start working through the stores and the cupboards too, again in the spirit of being "move ready".
I also want to keep on top of the house management side of things like cleaning etc. properly this year. So have started back on the TOMM / Flylady wagon where each day has a dedicated room. Being Tuesday, we're on bedrooms so have already stripped the bed and had a little tidy of my bedside table - don't even get me started on DH's side...And in fact the main bedroom needs to be decluttered asap as we're finally having the carpet installed in there in 3 weeks 🥳 It was a goal of mine for last year to have it completed and we finally managed to find a bargain on the 30th December! So that will be my weekend task while DH is out helping his dad clear his grandma's garage.

Can I join please?
This year my life will change as I go down to working 2 days a week so I finally will have time to sort out my life! Decluttering is the first major task, 3 adults in a (crammed) 4 bed house. We all have hobbies - which is lethal - and the house is permanently untidy with clutter.
Most of it will be charity shopped so may be a daily declutter and a weekly disposal. I'd never thought about logging how much I will dispose of - that is a good incentive.
Good luck everyone.23 -

Can I join too please?I did a fairly major declutter during 2020 and the house felt so much better for it. However, I've been rubbish at maintaining so the clutter is creeping back in.I have no idea what's a realistic target so I'm starting January with the minimalist game e.g. get rid of one item on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd etc. We'll see how it goesMFW 2024 £27500/7500 Mortgage £129,500 Jan 22 Final payment June 38 Now £68489.08 FP May 36 Emergency Fund £20,000 100% Added to ISA 24 £8,060 Save 12k in 24 #31 £20,034.76/20,000 Debt Free 31.07.1421

OK so after a boys room declutter, I've another 58 items leaving the house.
Have a small pile to put on vinted. I didn't have to buy any more trousers as I thought I might and only ended up with 1 load of washing 😀
That didn't take as long as I thought! I might have enough time to do another decluttering job before we go to our appointment.
So i picked another job from the decluttering jar.... bundle up yarn to sell on ebay!
Does anyone know any other places to sell yarn? 🤔January 2025 GC 🥕 £144.61 / £400

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed

Hello
I signed up for the 2023 things in 2023 thread a year ago, when I was very poorly in bed. I started small and recorded everything I decluttered, then work and life got in the way of the recording, but I ploughed on and let go of waaaay more than 2023 items.
I'd like to join again this year if I may- not sure how I'll do with the counting bit, but I am still committed to decluttering, as I feel so much better for it19
