Hi. I would like to join we need to declutter our house as we would like to sell and move area.  I made a start today I filled 3 bin bags with clothes I was keeping in sizes that I do not fit in anymore.  I also have sorted out about 20 pairs of jeans which I am going to pass on onto a friends daughter plus a fleece jacket I think she would like. I still has lots to sort  I have lots of clothes in my size now that I don’t wear so they go when I sort them.  Then I will go through my books I have 2large bookcases which is full and some in boxes.   So tomorrow afternoon has I am free to get going on the rest.  I also have a large box which I keep shoes in that I need to go through.

Have the whle house to clear in perhaps only a few months so I am not setting targets or goals.  Just have to be brutal.

Good work 👍 This is definitely the way. I am still working on DH with this as I suspect he’ll find the shoes he keeps storing will have fallen apart before he wears them. Also the same thought behind how long you need to store “spares” before they get used.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m 
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed

I have spent the afternoon clearing down programmes from the TV Planner, knitting & transposing data from scraps of paper into a notebook + slowly logging the names & targets of the 2024 Declutterati 🙂 Dinner was pork steaks, mash, cabbage & cauliflower 😋 Wudupa.

1 - 3 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, old calendar - recycled 

4 Kitchen detritus binned

GrannyKate, pleased to hear that you are feeling better today 😊 That is a major commitment having your GCs with you 50% of the time 🤩 They are very lucky to have a room each 🍀 I love the idea of ‘abandoned things’ laying around waiting to be found & re-homed 😊 Well done on getting so much accomplished today especially sorting out your accounts 👏I do believe that targets were not failed but are merely ‘postponed successes’ 😉

charlies_tribe, re the tins if they are not blown or dented then they should be OK 🤞 Although you should still do the sniff & taste tests when you open them 😉

So much for getting to bed early 😉 It seems our trainee driver has been replaced by the original driver so I am trying to play catch up with the cheerleading 😂

Wow! Everyone is doing so well! 

I'm back to work this week, so I did my cosmetics area yesterday. Some items I have had since I lived in Oxford in  a previous relationship. A bottle of toner I remember buying in my lunch break the first day of my new job in Oxford very vividly. It's a half full bottle of toner from 2011.  Is anyone else as bad as that?? It's gone now!

Another 6kgs gone. 34kg / 2024kg

I can't believe how much everyone has done already! Great job guys! 👏 

So from my decluttering jar today I picked out decluttering the boys clothes. With 3ds that's going to be one of my bigger jobs..... and quite frankly I'm knackered already after yesterday's efforts. 
So my plan is to get them to bring all clothes downstairs and I'll sort them all from my sofa with a cuppa... I expect I'll have multiple loads of washing as well as stuff to keep and stuff to declutter. 🙄😂 3 boys sharing a room is no joke.  It will also mean I have to spend some money as I know pretty much all of them need new trousers. We might be fine with everything else but trouser legs are just getting shorter and shorter. 😆

So that's my plan for this morning, with a hospital appointment this afternoon to see if my eldest ds eye op has been a success, we get the results today 🙏🙏

Can I ask how the stars and medals work? Do we just give ourselves one? What for? I maybe missed a post, can't find it. ❤️

Happy New Year to everyone

I'm sliding back onto the thread after disappearing in about April last year as life got to much with one thing and another

We did have a new patio completed (and then it rained all of the summer) and completely overhauled a bedroom, (everything is new and matching) and a new garage door

This lead to a few tip runs and a bulky waste collection by the council, which is free

Different tactic to last year instead of spaces going to for categories as this stuff is not all in one place so hard to see what we have

Books

CD's

DVD's

Towels

Bedding

And then also there are 3 kitchen cupboards that are annoying me, I read that if you don't put things away its because its hard to do so

I hope I haven’t scuppered my luck already with a quick run around with the vacuum cleaner. Otherwise, a relaxing day yesterday and I have nearly finished my Christmas craft projects. Much as I would love to pack them away and start a new one- old me begone 😂 All the recycling is out as the boxes were packed to bursting.

Yep MRS SD is the real star on this thread, she is always there to support and cheer us on. I would like to award @MrsSalad_Dodger with the first medal 🎖️of the year for being so lovely and organised and making botes of everyones targets ~ which in itself is a big job with so many of us aboard the speeding train!
